This puts it perfectly! Everyone has a right to have standards of what they personally value in another person.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. A man is high value because he acts high value. A man can be super attractive and still be low value. Something about the hate towards this sub reeks of when scrotes pander to ‘equality’ as a manipulation tactic. LVM doesn’t come close to the more damaging terms I’ve heard some men level at women.

I believe it’s partly the terms that make people think this is a hate sub. E.g. “low value man” could be seen as assigning worth to a man in the sense that he’s a commodity/object. To me, it’s a tongue-in-cheek way to refer to a shitty guy, but people outside might be more sensitive to such language.

This is so true. I have experienced this optimism bias, because the man had a good reputation and was intelligent. After it was over between us, I was surprised when he contacted me again after a few months offering a frankly disrespectful proposition considering our history. I thought, surely I must be mistaken, he is better than this? Evidently not. Thank you for this post. It is the affirmation I needed.

Seconding the “high value” thing. Take that bit out and your advice magically sounds perfectly reasonable. I like this sub, but there is a stigma attached to it, and because not everyone can agree with all of FDS, specific ideas are more palatable when served without the association.

A cake is significantly more effort, and so can claim the guise of a good-natured jab more than a cut-out which is ‘petty’. The intention is to drive home the point but stay on his good side. The irony is that he’s probably going to be just as triggered about the cake, which is going to hurt more because it is something that still took her time and energy.

Apparently he earns a bit more than her too. The audacity. I’m glad all the comments are on her side.

Oftentimes this ‘who hurt you’ is also a roundabout way to say ‘it’s your fault you got hurt’.

I can't imagine the mental gymnastics to deem this comment homophobic, though I'd be amused if they tried. Some people in straight relationships tolerate homophobia from their SO's. Just because it isn't directed at them, doesn't excuse it from being low-value behaviour.

When a dude is homophobic that is an automatic turn-off, I don't care how well he treats women. Besides it being an indicator of a shitty person, something in me can't help but wonder ‘oh so if I was a guy who hit on you, you’d threaten to gut me too’. And that just sends shivers down my spine.

Block and go. People who go out of their way to bother strangers on the internet, who are only participating in their own spaces, are just sad. Another case of taking preferences too personally.

Oh you can absolutely tell who the LVMs are by the type of memes they like. Most decent people with a reputation to keep up would avoid associating their name with such things. I know a LVM who went around on a deleting/unliking spree after hearing that some employers stalk social media. Progress?

I always thought they saw verbalising it as ‘indoctrinating’ other women and thus lowering their options available for minimal effort. But like, this implies we’re incapable of making decisions for ourselves. That, and they take a woman’s preferences too personally.

I used to be like that. I actually found this sub after I “changed”. So it was a lot like affirming what I already believed. It took seeing and experiencing relationship dynamics, through friends and my own situations. It’s also just very fascinating and piques an academic sort of interest in me. I changed in these ways: less tolerance for bullshit, less making excuses, less time/energy wasted, greater awareness of manipulation & greater appreciation for my gender. I realised FDS is not man-hati…

Ha, glad you rejected him and he exposed himself. I love it when the theory proves itself (and no girls get hurt). Even when you’re mid-twenties it’s not insignificant. I know someone who’s dating a guy five years older. They’re both working, but during the pandemic when loads of people lost jobs, he was hired much quicker than her, and she admitted it made her feel weak and she felt patronised by him. It’s impossible to generalise the perfect age gap, because it depends, but there are plenty of…

Definitely. It’s not even just with 40 plus men either. My ex was 23 and the girl he cheated with was 18. A lot of people might say it’s not a big gap, because ”they’re both adults”. (Nvm that it’s even creepier that he’s known her since she was way younger) But, there’s the fact that he’s got a degree and she’s not even graduated high school. Two very different universes. These men are made from their youth—the women grow up but they never do.

I’ve noticed this too. As a 21 year old, I personally wouldn’t trust any much older man who wants to date me. This is coming from someone whose parents have a large age gap and whose first boyfriend at college two-timed me and a girl who was still in high-school. In my experience it opens up a power imbalance. I think it is really dangerous to get close to these more experienced manipulators. Any man who goes after a much younger girl is looking for easy prey. We’re not at the same stage of life…

Yeah. I’ve had my fair share of pickmes telling me how wonderful and fulfilling it is to spoil their man as well. Thing is, most relationships are temporary anyway. Even with HVM. So what is the point in trying so hard to make a 50/50 one last, which we know deep down is less satisfying than being with a man who takes care of us.

Sometimes I wonder how there are men who don’t find pleasure in being able to provide. I’ve seen very poor men insist to pay for everything, because it’s a pride thing. Then, I’ve also seen well-to-do guys who will split popcorn at the movies. I think it is a very good indicator of how a man sees you. The former sees you as a woman he wants to take seriously. He doesn’t want his dream girl to think he can’t take care of her. The latter can’t see you as anything more than a girl he wants to bang.

Reminds me of a scrote I once knew, who really said, “I hope this remains the worst that anyone hurts you.” I think that sums it up. These guys KNOW they did wrong, and are downplaying it by pretending they’re abiding by etiquette (“asking nicely”, “I’m within rights to date someone else”, well wishes). They will do everything they can to follow these social rules to the letter, but with the spirit of hurting you. It’s a screwed up kind of malicious compliance. I saw that you said you will never…

My friend’s boyfriend once paid for dinner when the three of us met up. He also volunteered to help me look for a job without my friend prompting him to. They I think were the first healthy relationship I witnessed firsthand.

Right? As if men don’t fetishise womens’ physical traits. God forbid people have preferences. The difference is that too many women put these things aside. Meanwhile, loads of men will only settle for their ideal, and any woman who deviates from this is for playing games.

‘men are deserving of so much more credit than they get and are the best’ Are the best? Sis sounds like a child explaining why Mr Whiskers is the bestest pet kitty ever. Who’s emotionally immature here?

Yep. It’s a completely selfish act I derive no physical enjoyment from. I have to do all the work while the man lays back and puts no effort, and after men orgasm they get too lazy to do anything more. Unless he has good hygiene and gives more than receives, I’m saying no.

She’s right that it’s not about the ring, it’s about how much you love and respect your girl to not embarrass her like this.

I cringe because this is so real. I’m glad she was like ‘no’ though. Guys use this tactic all the time to avoid effort. If you can’t even call it a ‘date’ what are you doing? They love breaking out the thesaurus for less committing words. Don’t fall for the way men manipulate you with language. They are just as aware of the nuances as you are. Don’t even respond when he cancels. You wouldn’t condone this if this was business, so why would you in your personal life?

She’s going to be carrying the baby for the next nine months, not him. She’s the one risking her life and body. He lied to her about wanting a baby. He’s clearly not ready to be a father. He felt suffocated and that’s why he ran away. He probably said he was ready just to hook her. If he’s bailing now, what’s to say he won’t do it again when it gets harder? The fact that he’s so woefully unprepared shows he hasn’t done any research or prep, so he’s an unreliable man. Ladies, if your man isn’t ex…

Alcoholic, needs support, age gap, is the 4 year old theirs? (and he hasn’t married her yet), ‘We’ decided, inconsiderate when she’s in pain, cheating, cheating with a relative child, is called ‘daddy’, is a literal an adult man behaving like a frat boy, ‘I’m quiet’, ‘I packed all his shit’. I counted 12, which is 12 too many. The only good part is when she kicked him out.

I wonder when these ladies will realise being a sugar mama or house-elf to a man is not actually the empowering, woke shit it’s cracked up to be. Anything you do for the benefit of a man will be held in contempt. I know a guy who was pathetic around his crush, getting her a limo for prom, gifts on her birthday, cringy compliments, and they weren’t even together and she had an on-off boyfriend the whole time. She was mean and nasty to him, and we all asked him what he liked in her, he said she wa…
