No, the statement is that men as a whole are dominant compared to women as a whole. It's like how this whole sub likes to act like privilege doesn't exist because "lol homeless white men exist". you're completely missing the point if that's your reaction.

i literally laughed out loud. i thought it was really good satire, but you're serious, aren't you. literally using the "president is black" thing to act like racism isn't still deeply rooted in us society. it's 2015, read a fucking book, dude.

Lmao dude you just really don't like women, do you? All women see relationships as a transaction rabble rabble. All men are romantics rabble rabble

You're confusing "ending gender norms" with "Masculinity should be for women and femininity for men. ".

feminist presumptions like masculinity is bad for men but good for women and femininity is good for men and bad for women ??????????!??!!?????

The race example is different, and the answer to why Black people don't buy homes has to do with the very real structural racism still deeply engrained in our society. As for "what you do". It's simple. We need to stop socializing all people in our society to believe these ridiculous essentialist gender norms that equate men with bread winning and women with staying at home raising children. I really want you to focus on this graph from Barney Bent. It's the answer to your question, really. A lo…

This is all bullshit gender essentialism and you should feel terrible about yourself. How can you say you care about men's rights and spout all this bullshit? Your post literally exemplifies the very problem in question.

Just say it. "No one is gonna lose sleep over some dumb bitches getting raped. As long as we focus 100% of our efforts on making sure no man is ever falsely accused"

So, the intersectional prediction would be that white on black rape would be far more common than black on white rape lmao. How the fuck did you make that leap? I'm laughing so hard. I'm sure you felt so smug coming up with those two little examples. You sure proved those darn sjws wrong didn't you Pro tip: if you're going to "debunk" something maybe actually try to understand the concept in question first.
/r/MensRights14/07/15 05:54 AM

this is exactly what "sjws" think too. Literally wveryone, including feminists, think it's ridiculous to withdraw consent AFTER the fact. The whole idea of taking it back the next morning after you regret the night before is some ridiculous straw man that you guys have created. Of corse that's nonsensical. I've had someone call me a slur in the middle of sex and you damn well better believe I withdrew consent at that point, and that's ok. What you said was totally reasonable though.

you are putting so many words in the authors mouth, it's ridiculous. And you guys say feminists have a victim complex?!

I honestly don't even know what you're trying to say here. I don't want to have a whole other discussion about racism in the U.S., but are you denying that structural racism exists throughout he US. Just up and moving to another state won't change that, and that's a pretty shitty suggestion to give someone. Not everyone is privileged enough or has the means to simply relocate to avoid dealing with a systematic oppression they will face in their new home anyway.

You seem to not be thinking to critically. Black men do commit certain violent crimes at higher rates, but that's not the end of the story. WHY do you think they commit crimes at higher rates? Might that possibly have anything to do with a few centuries of racism codified into law followed by a century of systematic entrenched racism affecting them?

But do you not see the issue in discussing "men's rights" when you're really only discussing White men's rights? What's the point of having a movement for men if it isn't inclusive of all men? Also, to be fair, I would say that you WOULD discuss gay rigjts on a racism board, or vice versa. That's sort of the point. By saying what you just did, you fall into the trap where you act like gay black men don't exist, for example. That's exactly the issue here.

I mean, racism is one. Black men and other men of color in the U.S. Face racism in their daily lives. White USian men don't. That's one huge problem. And it very directly affects the way men are treated within the criminal justice system. It's been empirically proven that black men are policed and arrested at disproportionally high rates, and it's known that black men face longer and harsher sentences than white men for the same crimes. One example is drug use; black and white men buy, sell, and…

true, access and language are super important factors. but do you think it's important to include other viewpoints? I'm focusing more on the "straight white men" part as opposed to the "eurocentric" part, to be honest. Even in MY post I'm focusing on issues facing US men, if you read the op. So I'm definitely falling prey to the same problem of eurocentrism.

Ok, that's interesting. Ignoring the label intersectionality, do you think it's worth it to include race in your analyses? Would you agree that the problems facing USian Black men are different than those facing USian white men, for example? Or gay men vs straight men? Or do you approach misandry with a one size fits all analyses?

No, I said it's not good for determining an individual film's worth re: women's representations, but that it IS good for examining women's representations on a macro level. It's a simple concept.
/r/MensRights12/07/15 02:42 PM

You're actually wrong. Look up the Bechdel test. It's just a simple metric for generalizing women's representations in film as a whole. It's not a good way of saying "this movie is feminist" or "this movie is sexist" because tons of feminist movies wouldn't pass the test, and some pretty sexist movies DO pass the test. The point is, the vast majority of films produced don't pass the test, and that's something that definitely needs to be examined. I'm considering making a post here about represen…

Can you please give me an example of "MRM networks being destroyed by feminist activism." I'm genuinely asking. I would absolutely concede those three points, and I don't think any feminist wouldn't. But you have to hold yourself to the same standards. You can't have this movement claiming to be for gender equality while simultaneously shitting on every and all things feminist.

I mean, I can do the same thing you did. There aren't "subsets" of feminism that discuss this. Any social science, or gender studies text discusses these things. A sociology 101 class will discuss gender roles and how they're constructed and policed by men and women. Feminist texts for decades have been including masculinity in their analyses because it's ridiculous to NOT include it when you're discussing gender. It's also ridiculous that you would say that feminists are the hateful bigots. Whi…

Thanks for the reply. I'm genuinely heartened to see trans men brought up in such a way. Having just gone through several topics about gay and trans men on this board, I was feeling pretty bummed out. To be honest, I actually meant to reply to MyAfricanChild's post about grip strenth, though I think I replied to you because there were a few things I didn't agree with. It's extremely obvious to any man that most of the problematic masculine behaviors are engaged in in order to cater to dysfunctio…

Thank you for saying this! For a board that's purportedly about supporting men, it seems incredibly insincere to be using this man's tragic story as a "gotcha" against feminists.

for some reason i highly doubt she said anything remotely like those things. but nice try. edit: I read her piece in the guardian. She sounds pretty terrible, and should feel bad about herself. It was a ridiculous article with absolutely 0 sympathy for victims of suicide and their families. BUT that's still a far cry from saying "men are all villians and he deserved to die" and all those other things. On one hand, she totally didn't care about suicide victims and their families. On the other, I …

Do you actually think it's feminists making those posts as opposed to straight white college aged men (spoilers: reddit's largest demographic) Edit: Jesus Christ, people in THIS topic are saying it isn't rape. But you guys care about men, right?

Dude, it has long been understood in social science that individual human judgments, preferences, tastes, intentions, choices, and so on are the direct products of the way individuals are socialized. (Citation: Louis Althusser, Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses. There are literally tons and tons of references for this, if you want more. Althusser was one of the first to talk about ideology structuring individual preferences, etc)

that's bullshit and you know it. the linked studies, like the one by singh, only show that men tend to prefer women with those proportions. I'm not denying that. I'm denying the root cause of that. The articles don't say anything about this being an inherent or natural human preference. I'm saying that it isn't, that ideology and society play a far more important role than pure human biology. you're full of shit. adding retroactive motivations like men seeking out women with "child bearing hips"…

Do you guys actually think that heterosexual men are inherently or innately attracted to certain (Ie skinny or not-fat) women? like op says, men aren't and will never be. you do realize that human preferences and desires and aesthetics are very much a creation of human culture and society, and have nothing to do with any innate or inherent human biology. like, that's literally sociology 101. yall need a fucking social science class in this board.

so do you guys actually care about male rape victims or do you just like to trot them out to prove how little feminists care? because I'm a man who was drugged and raped by a man. and the posts on this sub seem to care very little about me as a victim outside of using me as a point against feminists, but there's hardly any actual discussion or rhetoric surrounding male rape victims outside that. forgive me if you don't seem genuine whatsoever. edit: thought I was on MensRights but my point still…
