A lady asked that question on reddit about 3 years ago. It's a very interesting read.
/r/MensRights14/05/17 04:02 AM

Being introverted is fine; it means you can recharge by being alone. Being shy sucks (I'm also shy). It is quite possible to do the life-of-the-party thing, have kickass social skills and still be an introvert.
/r/TheRedPill07/04/17 09:11 AM

Oh for fuck's sake stop tearing the guy down because he had the balls to go out and do something. Even if the OP gets ghosted by this girl, he pulled his finger out, went out into the world and sharpened his conversational sword.
/r/TheRedPill05/04/17 09:36 PM

Sounds right to me. Someone who has memorised everything to do with pokemon (say) might have value in a very limited context, but the vast majority of the population won't care. I don't know if I'm going into the weeds here, but things only have value if they're valued. You can only give and receive value if the other person actually wants what you're offering.
/r/TheRedPill04/04/17 10:30 AM

Simple. You create and consume value on a number of axes. If those axes aren't important to people, they're going to be indifferent to you.
/r/TheRedPill04/04/17 09:44 AM

People only care about the value you create. They don't care about you. And sometimes not even that.
/r/TheRedPill04/04/17 09:33 AM

Do you give value, or receive it? Background: I used to dance quite often, and I was starting to get pretty good at it. After a certain point, I became good enough that I was getting asked to dance instead of the other way around. Instead of consuming value that other people brought to the space, I'd started to throw off value that other people wanted to consume. By the time I quit, I'd got to the point where I could lock eyes with a girl, walk across the floor, take her hand and start dancing, …

Or while you're taking the time to decide that yes, you need a divorce: make sure you have your own private supply of condoms that you're using and you know are not tampered with. Because your wife has proven herself incapable of taking medication on a regular schedule.

I question the premise: you'll shut yourself out of a lot of interesting stuff if you only consume RP-approved media. That said, if you're sick of listening to some simpering man-baby with a guitar and no vocal strength, I don't blame you. Try looking for some good old-fashioned heavy metal?

That poor guy's probably not ready to listen, but at least the girl was honest. I once had a girl tell me that I'd make an excellent second husband, for when she'd had her fun and was used up. One of the kindest things anyone's ever done for me, though it took a few years to really understand it.

Feminism, by design, comes with a 3-pronged attack on masculinity. I split the attack into 3 parts: Steal the "virtuous masculinity": The parts of masculinity that both make people look up to men, and women can (or think they can) do: Stuff like "leading", "assertiveness", "head of his household", "dealing with dangerous shit" and so on. This is made gender-neutral, and in doing so it tries to cap the amount of value men can derive from their masculine virtues. Note that virtuous femininity has …

She's as bland as a brick, but because she's a g-g-g-girl!, women frequently love the character. I note one of the reasons the Twilight series was so successful: the main character was so bland that the reader could easily self-insert.

More than that, they're nerd storage units. Behold HN, in one of its rare moments of insight: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11295453 This is a more efficient cog storage unit that happens to provide additional features, like filtering out older workers and people who want lives outside of work. I know that IT has been as transformational as the first industrial revolution, but did we really need to copy one of its worst features?

Not sure what you're asking. The tech industry in general? Yes, yes and probably. Me personally? Yes, yes and yes. The first two I don't see any real reason to change and as for the third, I've had more sexual female attention since discovering TRP than I had across the rest of my life put together, so there's that.

Nothing to hide You might find yourself having "something to hide", even though it was the world that changed, not you. In the Netherlands, some bright spark in the mid 1800s had the idea of putting religious affiliation in the census. Jews didn't think that was something to hide. Until the late 1930s arrived and the Nazis rolled in, and suddenly a Jew was no longer a person with "nothing to hide". This community is already smeared as a group of misogynists, and I think the current political cli…

META: what OP did (and what most of the responses did not do) is lay out why each book was important to him. Personally, I'm not a fan of Psycho-Cybernetics. I haven't read it for a few years, but I do recall the author citing "his scientologist friend" as though that was evidence for anything. Stocism and the Art of Happiness by Donald Robertson I found it really worthwhile learning about Stoicism properly, instead of just the emotionless caricature you sometimes see on this sub. I found the post you're talking about and I think you're right. People on other subreddits whine about the two-step process (1. be attractive, 2. don't be unattractive). If you think about it in terms of sales, #1 is about generating leads and #2 is about closing. The reformed incel in the sidebar became much more effective at closing after his mindset shift. Fixing wardrobes and lifting are going to improve #1 more than #2. Improving game is going to help #2 more than #1.

I found this post very interesting: https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/7/24/142 One of the other women on the kernel mailing list tears Sarah to pieces: Sarah justifies pissing in the Linux sandbox because Intel 'pays her' to develop kernel drivers. Have you heard the phrase "extinction burst"? It describes this phenomenon perfectly: http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/07/07/extinction-burst/ The burst is a temporary increase in a behavior that usually precedes a reward, a plea from the recesses of your psyche as soon as the conditioned response is no longer yielding results.

In addition to the fear of looking too nerdy, you're possibly feeling off because your self-image involves a face without glasses and you're now presenting a face with glasses. Stoicism is raised quite often around here, and the stoics taught that anger is when reality and your expectations differ. That's a bloody hard ideal to live up to, but if your expectations match reality then you don't have to be surprised or angry. That doesn't mean you have to stop progressing.

This is the whole "TRP is amoral" thing. You can learn to see when a woman is considering you as a branch swing, but what you do with that information is up to you. Very good post, but I think there's a little more to it than that. It is very hard for people to mentally model others who think differently from themselves. Consider the religious person who mentally models the atheist as (someone like themselves) + (god shaped hole), or the liberal who models the conservative as (someone like themselves) - (caring for others). Now apply that to the way outsiders see TRP.

It's gotta really suck to wake up one day and discover that you've faded out into invisibility: https://archive.is/feJMH Luckily for us, we can hit the gym and fade back in from that invisibility.

They call it "horseshoe theory" over on KiA, but I think the term predates them. The nutcases on the left started demanding the same sort of censorship and other nonsense that we were used to seeing from the crazies on the right.

If no, you better hit the iron hard tomorrow. Respectfully disagree, OP. I'm off to hit the iron today. UPDATE: Iron has been hit.

His other article, Why Hackers Must Eject the SJWs appears much more grounded in reality. Still has the mythologising of the Hacker but less of the conspiracy theories, which makes it easier for people to absorb.

"Crazy uncle" is probably the best way to put it. He's certainly well known and his words have some weight, but he's overly fond of mythologising Hacker Culture and pumping himself up. He's a bit of a loon and I remember reading something where he decided he was the reincarnation of the god Pan.

I know the feeling. In my case, it was a general sense that people weren't really interested in my deeper thoughts or even my hobbies. So I stopped telling people things, even people I just met, and that has made me come off as opinionless, hobbyless and boring. After digging through a zillion buzzfeed-style reblogs of crap ("try these 36 questions to make you fall in love!"), I found the original paper. As with a lot of psychology research, it was done on a class of psychology students, and tha…

I think there's an additional dimension. Shared experience is one part, people sharing themselves is another. You may have seen the experiment going around a few months back where participants were paired off and asked each other 36 increasingly personal questions and it rapidly built intimacy. I think it's one of those strange loops in the human mind - if you've trusted someone with really personal information, you tend to feel closer to them. (If you weren't close to them, you would not have t…

The actual post on flairs (on TRP sidebar) says this: If your question is personally related, please remove your post and resubmit to /r/asktrp. If it's theory related, use this flair and keep it here. For instance, this question would fit: Has anybody noticed that the west coast is receptive to different game than the east coast usa? This question would need to be moved to /r/asktrp: I went on a date last night, but don't know how to proceed, please help? I'm just a recent subscriber, but here'…

From the outside, the Marines appeared to have had a woman in place who was actually trying to fix these things, but she got the boot: http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/story/military/2015/07/07/kate-germano-fired-marine-corps-female-recruit-unit-commander/29763371/ Germano singled out Marines who couldn't perform three pullups or complete a physical fitness test's 3-mile run in less than 23 minutes. Making these Marines stand, she told them they wouldn't be able to lead their male counterparts in…

It's quite a well-tuned program. The first run on a new music track feels really hard, the second passable and the third almost easy. I've had several restarts due to laziness and sickness, but I'm finally getting to hear new music and I'm excited to finish it off.

There's something to that, but I'm not sure if it's that high SMV men are allowed to do that, or that being sweaty and dirty that the right way raises your SMV. I remember one day where I got up before dawn, cycled a long way to work a ship all day and then went out dancing straight after. One of the girls I was dancing with said something like "you stink of tar, sunscreen and sweat, but sunscreen never smelled so good". I am not (yet) a high SMV man; I'm a recovering incel.

They don't make them like that anymore. But we can make ourselves like that, and maybe those of us who roll the dice on LTRs and kids will pass the knowledge on so it's not totally lost. When I'm gone, I want people (maybe a grandson who doesn't exist yet) to say things like that. I have a lot of work to do before that can happen.

When I'm feeling down, I think similar thoughts to thepythonist, but I completely agree with you. Despite all that feminism has done to try and neuter men, despite all the hate that comes from the blue-hair brigade, despite everything else that has been done to try and make masculinity some kind of defect to be engineered out of society, the male gender role is still awesome. We are allowed to be strong without bound. We can turn our SMV around with nutrition, exercise and practice. We are able …

https://archive.is/X8qVa - Here's an interesting piece from The Atlantic (hence the archive link) that shows that the affirmative consent approach doesn't work in real life. Choice quote: On our second night together, one of my first partners threw up her hands in disgust. “How am I supposed to get turned on when you keep asking for permission for everything like a little boy?” She said. “Just take me and fuck me already.”

Feminist organisations defuse Law 38 by never really allowing men full membership. At best, you can be an "ally" but if you ever disagree with things you get kicked to the kerb. Why do you think Jon McIntosh set up Anita Sarkeesian as his puppet? Nobody gave a shit about what he had to say until he found a woman to use as his mouthpiece.

I don't know BDSM at all, but I'm very familiar with the "words are the only way" MO these people use. The dance I do is lead/follow and can have some great moments of closeness. But there is so much variation in the close distance that you cannot cover it with words, and you can't have a sit-down discussion while the music is playing. So of course some "progressive" suggests that everyone should ask their partner "do you want to dance close?" before every song, even though: there are mechanisms…

the BDSM attitude and scene: it's often artificial and sugar coated, and thoroughly based around feminist notions of "consent ueber alles" I got to watch my favourite dance scene (not swing, but closely related) get thoroughly SJWified and found this article interesting reading. It draws parallels between the way the original swing scene ("once poor, black, and visceral [...] its every nook and cranny was permeated by sex and drugs") was sanitised and how a similar effect happened to the BDSM co…

Litany of Gendlin: What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it.

I'm not going to pretend it's easy, because it's not. I was tested (not shit tested, but tested by the world) at a party last weekend and found wanting. I'd been reading about Stoicism for a while, had the presence of mind to call on it and still couldn't completely apply it in the heat of the moment.
/r/TheRedPill05/10/15 09:52 PM

Look to the old Stoics for advice. The world makes things happen to you, but as a man you can and should choose how you react to them. Look up Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale, who applied the Stoic disciplines to great effect from inside a POW camp in Vietnam. He writes about his time there: You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.

On the "talk it out" point: /u/fit_to_fight is right. In the past, I've had to just disappear from bad situations because I knew that the people involved were so good at verbal judo that I'd be talked back into staying if I didn't. Not proud of it and I'm making myself stronger now, but sometimes it's necessary. There's a reason the old-school reddit advice was 1. dump her, 2. lawyer up, 3. hit the gym.

Even if true, why wait that long? If I'm only good enough to be someone's "settling down", then I need to get better. 10 years ago would have been a good time to start, but right now will have to do.

The old hackers were like that, back before they were overrun by twitter hipsters. Responding with RTFM or STFW was good for everyone: it taught the people asking questions to use their brain and grow, and let the veterans focus their attention on the interesting questions instead of hand-holding for the 100th time.

Read this post and learn how to craft a good thread. The thread title is nondescriptive (and therefore bad), but the content is good. The poster sets up background, and describes his situation in detail including the texting before and his thoughts during. This enables people to give good answers. I have no idea what you're actually asking. How are you getting women through your front door if you haven't yet approached them?
/r/askTRP

Phrased like that it makes total sense. I'm just not a fan of rewarding bad behaviour.

First time- rearrange. Second time - rearrange after 2 days. Third time - rearrange after a week. With ignores in between. Wow, you're a lot more generous than me. For a girl I've just met, she gets one chance to rearrange unless there's a really good reason. If she flakes a second time then I delete her number and move on. Too harsh?

Mate, she's pulled you into her orbit. You dance so readily to her tune that I reckon she doesn't see you as a sexual being any more. It's probably a lost cause at this point, and you don't want to oneitis yourself anyway. Let's pick this apart. You: You're free on Thursday night right? Let's go to bars Her: That would be really fun! It's after my exam so I may be beat, but if I don't decide to go to bed early like a bum, that sounds fun Her: [2 days later on Thursday] Hey! I've danced a few styles over the years including swing and pnt9 is absolutely correct. You will get kino opportunities, yes; but actual IOI's are way harder to read because the signal is so noisy. I would be especially careful about when and how you try to pull: the reputation as the thirsty guy who took up dancing just to pull can be really hard to shake. I've seen it happen to people in my scene. It can be a hell of a lot of fun, but rein in your expectations. There's very little time to talk…
