Sounds like you might be skinny fat. If so, just one bulk or cut cycle isn’t going to get you where you want to be. You’ll have to do more than one of each at least. I agree with the other suggestion about adding sets if it’s hypertrophy you’re after

What’s your top priority? Strength, hypertrophy, or fat loss? Is your body weight fairly consistent? Are you increasing intensity or volume on a weekly basis in your U/L program?

It can also be a good time to switch it up. You can lower rep ranges and try to train techniques on compounds or focus on building strength . You can incorporate new exercises that you’ll use in future mesocycles too. Most important for me was doing shit I liked, so I didn’t get burnt out with the deficit

So, from your post seems hypertrophy is your goal. If that’s true, I’d ask when is not eating food ever anabolic?

Sounds like impingement to me. I’ve had similar problems. Dead hangs all the fucking time were ultimately the best cure for me. Search for vids about “bulletproof shoulders” to help rehab/prehab. Basically, I had to reconsider my whole approach to upper body training. Made sure to balance push and pull volume, do rear delt work every workout, and stopped doing certain exercises. Good luck!

The truth is you’re never going to shake that feeling. There are world class bodybuilders with top 1% physiques that feel that same way. Probably 90%+ of guys here are like this too, if they were to be honest. All you can do is use it to fuel you. The more you do, the better you’ll look, and your feelings of insecurity about your body will diminish. And everyone is right. Just lift. That’s the boiled down response to your search for acceptance. It’s more complicated than that, but what do you ex…

Why don’t you prove what you’re saying then? You can’t. He’s not wrong. The answers are here already. Metabolic adaptation dictates less cals to maintain or increase desired deficit
