I remember taking Affirmative Action training in the 1980's and coming away thinking, "How is this not discrimination?" At least then it was quota based, which is bad enough. This on the other hand has a 100% quota. No debate needed whether that is discrimination.

It isn't that we "love" them too much so much as they are too valuable, isn't it. If we convince a person (whatever their gender or demographic) that their achievement and contribution is the basis on their value, they will continue to achieve and contribute, lessing the burden on the beneficiary.

I think your only choice to keep it from becoming a patriarch bashing session is to make it about suicide. Clearly suicide is a masculine issue from the statistical data. I would explore how our current perception of masculinity translates into the despair leading to suicide. The slippery slope here will be to avoid the argument that it is the result of patriarchal guilt.

For every 10 women that die of heart disease in the USA, 16 men die of heart disease. For every 10 women that die of breast cancer, 13 men die of prostrate cancer. I could go on and on. Some how there are so many campaigns to help women, but few for men. I, for one, do not understand why.
