As someone majoring in cyber security this is very true especially in the tech industry. Things are changing rapidly and you need to learn about it and stay informed or else you won’t advance.

I think it’s important as women to lift each other up. There’s nothing wrong with working women or SAHM. I see so many “tradwives” put working women down and have this notion that working women are “masculine” or “bad mothers”. Lots of times, these working women have to work to make ends meet, or maybe their husband can’t work if he’s on disability. I think learning a skill is super important because if something happens to your husband and he can’t provide anymore, you have to step up and take …

I live in Massachusetts, which is a very expensive state to live in. My mom is from Italy and never attended college so when she came here she got a job at a retail store. She worked until she had my brother because she ended up having heart issues earlier. My dad, owns an IT business so he makes enough to support the family. My mom is on disability so she does get money from the government but it’s really for her use. I feel like stories like my mom’s are more rare. She wanted to go back to wor…

I wish someone would’ve told me that early on. I was so insecure of my curls and never thought i would find someone because no man likes curly hair! Now I have an amazing boyfriend who loves it.

Honestly leave him Just like the others said he has a porn addiction. He is Using what he sees in anime porn as the perfect body and he puts that on you. Lots of the bodies in anime and manga he’s seeing aren’t realistic anyways.

My opinion is this: She used the pandemic as an excuse to break up with him. If someone truly loves you they would’ve held on even if they couldn’t see you for awhile. The pandemic is temporary and lockdowns are starting to be lifted (at least in my state of MA) She seems like she was looking for excuses

I agree with everyone on here, it sounds super sketchy. Even if its a close family friend it still sketches me out because he is going to be with her for 3-4 months. You deserve WAY better than him.

That’s what I don’t like. Women with no background in infosec getting an infosec role. They haven’t even worked hard for it like I am right now. Also this push puts women who truly deserve their positions to shame because people will assume she’s in her position for being a woman. It damages both men and women.

I don’t see the discrimination either. I have never faced such treatment for being a woman in my studies. I even held a position as a club officer for the cyber security club on campus. I was always the only girl at the meeting and I was fine.

I can relate as a female. I suck at math too. When I try to write code I try to make it look as pretty as possible. I don’t really code these days since I’m Done with comp sci as my core concentration.

As someone studying Cybersecurity, I’m sick of these feminists and their rally to get more women in STEM. I’m a female also. This example right here is the reason why. Pushing the men away so women can get what they want. Part of me also thinks these same feminists would drop out of med school cause “it’s too hard and oppressive!!!” What’s wrong If STEM is made dominated? Where’s the fuss that some fields are female dominated?

You’re still young and trying to find what works best for you and that’s okay. I wouldn’t listen too much what your friends think. Sometimes the old fashioned ways are better than the new ways and vice versa. They really have no say on how you present yourself.

I was in a similar position After my ex left me I started Tinder. I met some guys who just wanted sex, some guys looking to date and some guys just wanting to see where things go. A few were looking for an actual relationship. What I did was that I tried to get to know the guys I really wanted to get to know. If things didn’t work out, I just left it at there. There was also a few cases where things were going rough in the Guy’s I was talking to lives so we remained friends, and to this day we s…

I lost my virginity to my ex and I regret it A LOT. I wish I never lost my virginity to him. At the time we were so excited that we just went straight into sex and I regret it. I’m a junior in college and I do think colleges push for that hookup culture. I don’t see anything wrong with hooking up in general as long consent is given and people practice safe sex. The probelm is that hookup culture has made hooking up constantly as the norm and those who are virgins are shunned. I don’t have the en…

I’m a cyber security major at school so I’m surrounded by lots of guys. My interest in technology may be considered masculine but I’m okay with that because if it makes me happy, I’ll pursue it! I also have feminine hobbies as well. I am very creative! I love to draw and I love doing makeup as well too. I like to also garden when the time comes around. Last summer I grew a lot of plants! When I tell people I major in Cybersecurity, they are surprised. Most would think this is an offense but I se…

It’s a trial and error sort of thing that happens over time. Try new hobbies, find a new style to dress in, open up to new music, open up to new people. With time, you’ll find the person you’re meant to be. You got this ❤️

Well when it comes to yoga pants it depends where you wear them. If it’s at home then yeah it’s okay. But out in public depending where you are not a good idea. If the yoga pants aren’t see through I don’t think there’s an issue.

Bloating could be the issue here. It happens to me often. I know it gets worse around our periods too! Try To eat foods with less salt. Having too much salt can make you bloated.

I might get downvoted for this but I’m kind of worried of the messages she’s sending to her younger audience. I agree with many of Mrs.Midwest’s points even as a girl going for a career in cyber security. However I do find that she puts on an act. The way she talks, her body language all seem like an act.

Hmm I’m not too sure as that’s never been an issue for me. I would try using those blackhead masks or strips, those can work wonders!

Aside from being a cyber security major I have feminine hobbies! I’m a self taught tap dancer, I always wanted to learn so I learnt from YouTube I also love to draw! I love to garden and take care of plants. Photography is fun too. Going to the gym makes me feel more connected to my body. I also love doing makeup. I consider it a hobby of mine :)

Feminity is different for everyone. It’s not the same for everyone. What’s considered feminine to one person may be different to someone else! Here are my suggestions, and you don’t necessarily have to do them, this is just what I do 1.) I put more effort in my appearnece, I dress femininely, wear skirts, dresses. I like to wear lots Of different colors. Also, I take time to do makeup, even if it’s not a lot of makeup 2.) skin care, I like using an apricot scrub, it keeps my skin smooth and clea…

My mom used to work in retail, she’s from Italy and growing up her parents actually didn’t want her to go to HS since back in the day you had to pay and her parents weren’t rich at all. She worked in retail until she had my brother and has heart issues so she can’t work. My dad owns a business so he keeps the family afloat. He is just starting up another one too. My mom also is on disability so she gets money from the government. If it was totally different where my dad wasn’t making enough.

I’m a cyber security major, and I can get what you’re saying. My advice to you is keep being you, and follow what your heart tells you. You can be techy, and be able to cook up a nice meal. I love dressing femininely, wearing makeup and being creative since those foster my feminity even more. We may be in a male dominated field, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be feminine. I see so many girls start to lose themselves on the field in hopes of fitting in, but all that does is make them more miserab…

True story Back last spring, I was talking to a guy who I met on tinder. Im currently in college going for my BS in cyber security. The guy i was talking to holds a GED, but Im not shitty to the point I won't date someone for that reason. Anyways, we met up, had sex and by the time it was late summer, he started to get less flirty and wouldn't message me back for a few days. He told me he had started a truck driving job and because of that he couldn't respond because of it. I give second chances…

You clearly don't know me, what I go through and the ins and outs of what happened between me and him. I stood up for myself when he came back asking for another chance, I told him no and he had to work on his anxiety issue given he had blamed what he did on his anxiety. I have diagnosed anxiety and depression so part of me did understand what was going through his mind but in no way was I going to excuse his actions. I even told him that I had a hard time trusting me. He was the one who brought…

I wasn’t emotional at all actually and he was never my boyfriend. we were just talking with each other and saw each other once. Like I said I’ll stay out of it. If she doesn’t wanna listen to me then fine that’s not my issue. I’m only 20 so I don’t have maybe as much life experience as you do. I’ll make mistakes and that’s okay.

My issue is that he keeps on getting away with it for too long and can’t own up to any responsibility. He’s caused me pain, hurt and trust issues and I wouldn’t want the other girl going through that mess. The rest I’ll stay out of, but it’s not my fault if he wants to act like this. I can’t change him or control him, but i believe he needs karma to bite his butt.

Idk what kind of people would say not to tell the girl. I’m sorry but should a jerk like him be allowed to continue going around and hurting other girls? He clearly needs to learn and stop giving lame excuses. The rest I’ll stay out of. If they wanna continue being together, not my fault when the girl gets upset cause he cheated on her. Even let’s say they got back together today, he still was talking to me. Either way he clearly wasn’t thinking of her and prioritizing her like he should’ve been…

I just told her and sent her screenshots. This guy has issues and I’m not suffering anymore. Only reason i gave him a third chance was because he did mention he had a better work schedule and I was hoping maybe it would’ve worked out better then. But looks like it didn’t.

You are both very young and as other said marriage is a commitment. Perhaps postponing the marriage may be for the best as you two will have more time to figure time out. Most marriages at that age usually end up in divorce. My family is from Italy and typically many people don’t get married till their late 20s till mid thirties in my experience. So don’t rush it!

I’m so so sorry this happened to you. This guy sounds like he has some deep rooted issues. Not worth your time anymore. That’s beyond cruel he would do such a thing to you. It’s not your fault, Please know that. You deserve better than him!

Thats what more women in STEM have to hear. Not that they should downplay their femininity, that’s toxic.

I have no issue with LGBT people at all. Yes I agree that lesbians do face similar issues because they’re expected to look more masculine so if a feminine woman was to say she’s lesbian, she wouldn’t be taken seriously. People should be respected for their work ethic and knowledge, that’s what it should be. There may be people who will take me less seriously, but what helps me is knowing that those people only make up a small portion of the tech industry and that they were close minded to begin …

I felt isolated for being the only one who embraced their femininity. It felt weird being the only girl being feminine. Not that anyone has confided in me but I have heard stories in articles, social media, etc..

Life experiences can definitely be a cause of that And I agree 100 percent with you, but it shouldn’t be a life sentence of the women downplaying her femininity. If a woman wants to present as more Masculine because that’s what makes her happy, I’m all for it. I don’t think it’s fair for women to feel like they must tone down their femininity because of something that happened to them. It’s understandable but they shouldn’t have to stop being themselves. And whoever those mentors are shouldn’t h…

I think he just wanted to feel like he was getting some action so it makes sense why he wanted to see me almost every week. I don’t have a whole lot of confidence sometimes, and sometimes i do. But at the same time i struggle with confidence. I hate everything about my looks sometimes. Most people wouldn’t say I’m fat but i think I’m fat. Weight loss has been a battle for me and it’s made my depression worse. I don’t have the best relationship with food or with myself if I’m being honest. I’ve b…

Exactly. It’s just materialistic to want a man who makes more than you for that reason. I’m not like that. I’m not materialistic. I believe in taking care Of your husband/boyfriend so they feel wanted and loved. I am one of the more outgoing and feminine girls in my field which helps a lot. Not bragging but I think there’s a reason why I match with so many men in my field.

I match on tinder with a lot of dudes in my field. I wanna go for men in similar fields to avoid this mess. I would be open to date a guy in a less similar filed as long he respects what I do and doesn't make a big fuss that I make more than him.

The issue I see is that so many females in tech get caught up in this gender gap issue to the point they become unhappy. It makes me wonder if they’re comfortable in their own gender or in their own line of work as I said earlier. I appreciate hearing input from someone older than me that’s only been in a male dominated feild. I agree with what you’re saying about if women are being singled out it’s mainly because she’s shitty at her job. I don’t understand the movement to get more women in STEM fields, because there’s no movement to get men into female dominated fields. If we really want equality we would be doing same to both sides.

Keep in mind I was only 14 when this happened to me. Shit like this fucks with your mind but at the same time I’m grateful for it as it made me a better person and a wiser one as well. It feels lonely being an anti-feminist female in tech. It seems like because of identity politics every female in tech, or the majority of them Subscribes to some sort of feminism. The reason why there’s so much tension in the industry is because what the media has done and what feminism has done by labeling it as…
