I'd say that before the advent of agriculture, debt, and capital women were much more equal. I think the norms in tribal or nomadic societies treated women more respectfully, as demonstrated by the greater number of goddesses in mythology and before with animism. Then the Abrahamic religions began to take over during the agricultural revolution and those goddesses became symbols of which craft. Audiobooks are great, I have a long commute and go thru most of my books on the road or during flights. I highly recommend them if you feel you have trouble finding time to read. They are just as informative as sitting down and reading, as long as you give it your attention. If your mind wanders of from time to time, just hit the 30sec rewind, just like rereading a paragraph you skimmed. However listening to audiobooks while working out may be too tough to focus.
