Umm, no, you were right dumping her.

This is the reality of 21 century, man, which we found ourselves in. Many, many, many women. (Almost) no women worth staying with for long. I think, this is how it's going to be from now on. Marriage as an institution is dead, and so are long term, 20 y +, relationships. We are unfortunately in no position to change the reality. So we have to adjust or get extinct. I think, black guys got it right 10-15 years before us, with the culture of baby daddies and stuff like that.

You are right, it's very inappropriate. She does not think about kids, she is being selfish, thinking only about herself and her well-being/validation, as short term it is going to be. My ex did the same. 6 months to a year is a rule of thumb. Not much you can do about it unfortunately.

Well played, dude. Re: credit, collections and all that, you'll bounce back, now, that you are single. Under no circumstances give her anything not outlined in the MSA. If you give her something out of the goodness of your heart, she'll come again for seconds. Noone forced her to sign that MSA. And she does not concern herself about thinking in categories of fairness, don't worry about it. What would happen if your roles were reversed, do you think? Don't worry much about the lawsuit either (but…

Yes, words can certainly point towards a possibility of cheating. "She has this itch she needs to scratch", and she luckily showed you she has it well before you settled for her. In this case, perhaps, seeking attention of a guy that she finds attractive? I am thinking: one day she will be explaining to you that she was extremely drunk and does not remember how she ended up in a hotel with him. Believe your gut, IMO. As a side note, we are all very untrusting and careful people here for sure, bu…

Many, peobably all of us, have been there, man. The way I thought about these oscillations was as follows. The jumps in the mood are your hormones playing with you. Testosterone is the hormone of winning. You hit the gym really well, you got your testosterone depleted a bit, while prolactin/estrogen maybe went up a bit. Hence you are feeling down. High prolactin means that you want to take care of your x. But she is unavailable, so naturally you are feeling down. Testosterone is also a social st…

You lost me at "we both cheated in the beginning". Trying to reconcile after infidelity - the pressure on you, external vs internal, is so high this life quickly begins to look like circus, with elephants and clowns and orchestra playing loony tune. Women arguably handle it (reconciliation after infidelity) worse than men, either go off the rack or become shells of their former selves. She suddenly decided that she is a lesbian after 4 kids, well, wait when she joins a swingers club or starts ge…

Pal. Adjustment of alimony because my income went up 5 years after divorce has absolutely nothing 'whatever you built together' in it. To have access to ex's future income, multiple former wives in this country cohabitate with their APs without marrying them, for years. It's a travesty of the law.

Sure, absolutely, but there was that facet of reality as well. She did define me solid and well for a good part of 17 years we were together. My mistake for sure that I let her do that. As for a bunch of women post divorce, I guess I started enjoying it after a while.

One reason for me was that my ex convinced me I am just a bad lover, generally so, and there is nothing i can do about it (I am just a lesser man). Lo and behold, as it turns out, dozens of other women did not share her opinion. I did jump into the dating pool 6 months after divorce though.

My friend, think of it as follows. You are a king. Your so called queen lost her fkn mind and cheated on you with a local milk delivery man. Would you even bother giving her and the milk man a single thought after that? Throw her shit on the curbside and be done! Talking to her about it or about anything at all really, you are validating her and putting yourself down at the same time. Don't. Other people including her will make a conscious effort to put you down, there is no point doing it yours…

The fckn committee is always a big deal nowadays. Once it's starts assembling, the end is neah. The qualities in a woman which would make her exactly suitable for a life long marriage are being frowned upon by other women.

Dude, I would ask you why but you already gave your answer yourself: "I was weak". Yes, you were. But you stood up, got yourself together like a man should, like a man you are. When my ex approached for reconciliation, here was my thinking. So, all you just wanted was to take a break and fuck around, "test your woken up sexuality"? And the grass was not all that greener out there, I guess, was it You fucked up financial state of our family and, more importantly, emotional state of our kids, and …

What about child support? 50/50 is typically a good deal. 70/30, when you pay a ton of CS and she does not really spend time with kids is a much worse deal. Truck - I would gladly give it up as long as CS is low.

'Attention, attention, can I get some more attention please, me, me, me, me'. I'll spell it out for you since you pretend you don't understand. Your husband is telling you to FO, in my opinion, rightly so. Some men in this sub including myself are telling you the same, most definitely, righly so. Try to get attention somewhere else.

You had a fling during separation? GTFO here. In my book, would I be you husband, you would be done, with 0% chance to come back. As a side note, A. Cheaters always try to crawl back. Your fling dumped you, right? B. I just don't get why women want to invade every little space they have access to, for whatever reason that suits them, mostly attention. The sub is called 'DivorceMEN', what's unclear about the title is beyond me.

Man, 50% of first marriages end up with a divorce. 80% of those divorces are initiated by women. This means that roughly 0.8*0.5 = 40% of all women are in the class you described. You will have here in this class large and small ones, fat and thin, PhDs and high school dropouts, religious and godless ateists, hot and not so much, you name it. One big hit is pre-menopause and menopause. Hormonal changes associated with it screw with their brains like there is no tomorrow, and of course they blame…

So, in principle, you expose yourself to a risk of 'no fault' divorce being transformed into an 'at fault' divorce, with penalty in awarded assets etc. But first, realistically, this is Australia where noone in courts gives a fuck about adultery and second, given that it was you who filed and if your STBX does not want to go scorched earth against you, you are free to do whatever you want. Still, I think, your lawyer would advice you to hold your horses for a bit.

Dude, 17 years here as well and divorce after cheating. I felt and feel everything across the spectrum that you felt. Well, maybe with the exception of "I'd like to fuck her" (my sex life without her is waaay better than with her - and so will be yours, trust me, once you move on). The secret souce, I think, is to minimize all contact and gray fucking rock. It's not for her, it's for you - to heal faster. What you do with your kids is for them, for your kids - not for her. No, you do not give her another shot 😆 enjoy the best part of your life, brother. Off topic: interestingly, statistics of marriages among lesbians (in countries where such statistics exists) shows that the probability of divorce for them is about twice is high as for a heterosexual couple. My take is that insufferable women cannot really suffer each other either.

Man. 50% chance to lose half of your shit at every single time and then support her and her AP for many years to come on top of that. 75% chance at every single moment of time if you marry again. Only, only for the kids, otherwise totally brainless. Having kids born was a total blessing though, about the only time I was truly happy in my life.
/r/Divorce_Men10/02/24 03:44 AM

Gonna be very hard to charge her without any damages or unless you recorded the whole event, which I doubt you did. "He said, she said". But you need to address this situation somehow or at will be "third time is the charm". I would advice you to keep away from her at all times and develop a system so that you pick up kids without her being present. Also, start wearing a body cam when her presence is unavoidable.
/r/Divorce_Men10/02/24 01:52 AM

There are also many freshly divorced, in a situation similar to OP's. The key here, it seems to me, is to be generally attractive, so that all of them notice you and keep you on the backs of their minds as potential plan B. I am def strongly, very much so against breaking anyone's marriage/relationship. But don't you worry, a modern woman will do all the breaking herself.

If you are full prof, I guess, you are making about 150k a year. This makes you quite a catch, still young, established, respected and with high status in life. Women love high status, nowadays the whole dating game is about it (whether they can flex on their girlfriends showing you up). Then, just be out more starting with going to the gym on a daily basis. Don't tell me you cannot bang someone at a conference. If you can't, you need to work on your game, that is the bottleneck for you then.

Ehh guys, IMO it's better that way than when she is suddenly all smiles, sweet and caring. At least, being cold with you, she is just being genuine and true to her nature. Ultimately, her coldness hurts because you are not over her. Otherwise, you would simply not care.

So last time I checked, MIT, Yale etc. were hiring young women for a tenure track assistant prof left and right, at about 1:2 ratio for men:women.

Related depts, i.e, if physics, then chemistry, if history, then languages or economics etc. etc. If you want a much younger lover, this is going to be difficult. Academia is a very heart and source of liberal worldview, rampant feminism, cancel culture etc, so you know the risks of dating students well (can forget your tenure track).
/r/Divorce_Men30/01/24 04:23 PM

You don't have any divorced women in your department? An obvious choice. They would be familiar with all your struggles and career pressures for example. There is a reason why there are so many marriages inside academia. P.S. I understand that students and postdocs are a 'no-no'.

Dude, I will tell you something now which might expand your horizons. The true success of the evolutionary game is the number of kids you fathered. How much did you propagate your genes down the history. Rather than the number of women you slept with. The latter is just a proxy, and a bad proxy at that after invention of the magical pill. For example, Sean Connery, James Bond who fucked pretty much every cutie in Hollywood at the time, had just 1 (one) biological child. Your average Mormon beats…

/r/Divorce_Men25/01/24 07:50 PM

Sadly, true. Moreover, my starfish cheated on me. But all and all, we were together for 17 years. So long term. Definitely not 'forever', 'rich or poor'. My guess is that exactly zero women are capable for 'forever' nowadays.

If she is great at sex, she had a lot of practice, with different guys. If she had a lot of practice, she cannot stop comparing you with dudes in her past (always coming back in her thoughts to that alpha Chad who pumped and dumped her). If she cannot stop comparing, she is never yours, it is just your turn. Financial responsibility goes rarely hand in hand with addiction to dopamine kicks from finding a new guy. YOLO of a sort. So yeah, you ultimately you need to learn how to genuinely love you…

Cult - no, at least not instantaneously. But there is a lot of flexibility in reshaping your personality, especially around events involving psychological trauma. Frankly, if personality/behavior cannot be improved, it's a whole other problem, not related to the problem of height.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 02:43 PM

Napoleon was 5'6". Stalin was between 5'4" and 5'5". One way to look at this problem is to 'weaponize' it. There is such thing as Napoleon complex which should be there somewhere in your psyche 🙂 win them over by your explosive personality and insane temperament.

My answer to that is apps. They log in everyday to Tinder, see a 1000 matches and believe that they are golden and entitled to be treated like queens. She can behave like shit, and if her guy says a word against it, she can always swipe right on the next one. What they don't seem to quite grasp though is that this 1000 men will happily pump and dump her but none of them will let her in their lives and commit to her. I think this will bring on a demographic restructuring of astronomic proportions…

Ok, if gym is not for you for some reason, other things I came up with are skydiving, sailing, paintball and yes, fucking everything that moves. Generally, IMO, this is about controlling T levels vs. prolactin. Higher T levels are 'oh, this girl left? Good for me, nnnext'. Higher prolactin levels are 'oh my God, she was the only one, I am unworthy, how can I live with this shame'. Gym does boost T levels, but what boosts those levels really, really well is winning. You need lots and lots of wins…

You are betrayed and manipulated. You are still trying because you are a good man plus of course because it's hard to take a leap into unknown. If you keep trying, you will pay dearly down the road. In my experience, unfortunately, yes. She will love you if she respects you, and a rare woman would respect her husband if she vastly outearns him. Besides that, there is always hypergamy at play - she will have possibilities for husband upgrade and, again, a rare woman can resist those. Correct approach to this challenge is to always work on outearning your girl 😆

I passed through this stage early in the divorce process. Since then, after the mind fog cleared, it was only downhill. Now, I minimize all contacts with her. I cannot cut it completely as we are coparenting but I will once kids emansipate.

How long have you been married for? For me, 17 years, 30% of my life, longer than any other phase of life. A kind of hard to wipe out from memory completely because of that. But yes, much better memories with better women, just fewer of them so far.

She also mentioned she'd help with college bills. I'm not sure I can trust her to hold up that end of the deal though I want to. Mention this in a separation agreement hahaha. If you are insistent on staying, I think, not a bad idea is to have a lawyer to draft a separation agreement stating that you or her will depart the marital house in 2025, and outline all other terms.

How will she react to the news that quasi-mom #3 is cheating/checked out from marriage/looking for her way out? Won't she think that quasi-mom checks out on her, too? Which she does. Useless based on my personal experience. If not straight away harmful. 'Get in touch with your feelings', 'it's ok to be weak', yadayada. A mommy. For a 45 y old man. Dude, its not a delusion, it's a facade. She is pedaling hard to prove to herself and everyone else that she made the right choice. The very fact that she wants to prove it tells it all. It will pass. Give it about a year or two for her to try to get back together with you. Don't you dare taking her back 😆

A really good team of lawyers (not a single lawyer). Your readiness to play a long game and spend money. A counterclaim for her every claim. Weaponize everything including, yes, her cheating. In the end, this is all cost-benefit analysis.

Man, frankly, I would hate discussing with my x her prospects on the dating market, who she will be with, etc. Not my wife, not my fkn problem. And the 'not my wife' state is de facto realized when divorce is discussed, not when divorce decree is signed by the judge. It is realized when she checks out from marriage. I would advice to go gray rock

I just did not think about myself much, mostly her and the kids. Worked 2 jobs 7 days a week, etc. I started hitting the gym after I moved out. The current physical state is such that I have never been stronger in my life, not even when I was 18.

Yes, it's coming. Start to take active care of yourself: gym etc. - prepare the field for life of a single man. There will be a lot of sex, don't worry about it. Travel and sex shows: let her do that. Document everything, collect evidence. Go gray rock before filing (no attention, yes and no answers to any of her questions), file for divorce proactively yourself and then go full nuclear war during divorce.

If your incomes drastically change, each side can file request for modifying your separation agreement. Thinking that she will keep paying you support after you start again outearning her is a mistake

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
