Hey guys - not divorced myself, but want to be there for a friend who is in the midst of his. With small-children at home, there's a potential custody battle looming and I want to be there to listen, and so that my friend knows he's not alone, but I'm fearful that I'll 1) reach out too much and become a burden during an already difficult time and/or 2) say the wrong thing at a time when he's already dealing with a lot of what-if's and stressful scenarios playing out in his head.

We talk often and are pretty open with one another, but I get the sense that as much as I know about the situation, that it's much more stressful than what he relays. I know it's not universal for everyone, but did you mind if close friends checked in on how things were going after a hearing/mediation? I try to leave the door open that I'm here if he wants to talk, but that there's no pressure to do so.

Was there anything that a friend did for you that was particularly helpful? Any advice you can share with someone on the outside of this situation would be appreciated. He's been a great friend to me and I want to make sure that I step up to the plate, appreciate any and all perspective and advice you can give.
