If you’re waiting for marriage, how should you approach the conversation?

What if you’re waiting for marriage?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/04/22 06:28 PM

Some of the most sociopathic men I’ve ever met were high performers in the professional world. Vet very carefully.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/04/22 04:37 AM
110

That too. He will probably dump her, be unsuccessful at dating on the apps, then try to weasel his way back into her life in a year+. I’ve read post after post on the break up subs where the script plays out exactly like that.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/04/22 10:22 PM
87

He sounds like he has an avoidant attachment style.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/04/22 10:17 PM

Please tell me the comments on the original post weren’t supporting that garbage man.

And while doing so, they dragged along a poor woman or two without marrying them, or thought they could be fboys forever. Guess bad decisions have bad consequences!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/04/22 12:56 AM
67

I’m willing to bet they just appear so nowadays.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/04/22 11:28 PM

This is the truth, this right here.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/04/22 11:27 PM
2

Unfortunately he will dump and discard the next person too. He sounds like a total narcissist.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/22 05:08 AM
5

As if he could get a girl in his early 20s 😂No one will want his LV self
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/22 04:51 AM
21

Very well said. Personally I would never date a man outside of my cultural background. I did it once and there was too much of a difference and I always felt like something was missing, like there was just something he couldn’t understand about me. I would only marry a man of my cultural background. Dating is more challenging because my options are more limited, but I’d rather end up with a man I know will get that part of me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/03/22 11:36 PM
110

I don’t totally agree with this take. Cheap, ungenerous men are like that by their nature. It’s just who they are. I once dated someone with TONS of money who, for instance, split hairs about whether buying a bike would be cheaper for him or taking the bus. I wish I was joking. He’ll be stingy with other women, too.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/03/22 08:42 PM
13

Wait is the woman in the first set of photos (the smaller text) the same as the one in the article?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/03/22 12:28 AM
50

Do you have any links to that research?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/03/22 06:40 PM

Thank you so much for this comment! What about vetting for asexuality and a low libido without having sex?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 11:12 PM
35

Also I’m waiting for marriage to have sex for personal reasons and know it’s the right choice for me. But it’s not necessarily going to be for everyone.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 01:01 AM
10

If you don’t mind me asking, are you now waiting until marriage to have sex?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 12:55 AM
9

I’m waiting for marriage for personal reasons and it’s what works best for me. Everyone has to do what works best for them. There are risks either way but I’ve found ways to vet for many of those risks without sleeping with men. For example, the micro penis thing, I just ask to see it lol
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 12:44 AM
3

I hear you! I think there are ways to vet for the risks you mentioned at the end without having sex, but again it’s all about what works for the individual person.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 12:40 AM
11

Very well-said. Cocky guys can also be masking low esteem, as another user pointed out. That cockiness = overcompensating for something
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/22 12:34 AM
22

I see where you’re coming from but I think there are other ways to check for those red flags you mentioned. It comes down to what works best for the individual person.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/22 05:20 PM
50

What are some signs a guy has low self esteem?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/22 05:00 PM
69

I commented below as well but I think this is one reason why not giving wife benefits until you’re married works. Things like not moving in, not having sex, etc until you’re married will reveal his true intentions faster. He can only fake it so long if he can’t string you along for sex, a portion of rent getting paid, etc.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/22 04:59 PM
79

I think this is another reason why waiting for marriage to have sex, and do “wife” things, work in many cases. True colors of the man will show faster.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/22 04:56 PM
187

“So hypothetically assuming I am not a sociopath…” aww, he’s almost self-aware. He is sociopathic to the core.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/22 04:52 PM
12

By chatting do you mean on Reddit?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/03/22 06:52 PM
73

And a lot of times there is no “perfect woman” because nothing can satisfy these types of men.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/03/22 01:24 PM

Exactly he is too bold right now.

I received a variation of a fake proposal. It was a narcissistic prank he did to try taking me down a notch.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/03/22 02:08 PM
10

What about if she’d gone about the no sex before marriage stance from the start?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 11:08 PM
7

These men just have audacity. Smh
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:21 PM
10

He had the audacity to come crawling out of the woodwork after what he did?! Good on you for ghosting him for life.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:20 PM
1

I’m curious, with those exes, if you don’t mind me asking, who broke up with who?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:19 PM
5

He had the audacity to come back years later?!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:16 PM
23

100% on point
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:11 PM
21

This.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:11 PM
119

How do people think what she doing manipulative? She’s basically telling him to shit or get off the pot.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:10 PM
15

“It’s obviously inadvisable for a woman to leverage sex for a ring” really curious about your expanded thoughts on this, if you’re open to sharing!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:09 PM
43

It’s simple. If he loves her so much, why won’t he marry her? She’s not saying no more sex forever. She’s saying no more sex until marriage. By her saying no more sex until marriage, she’s gotten him to show his true intentions, which are to string her along without real commitment - which in our times is marriage - for as long as possible. He wants wife benefits on boyfriend prices.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 09:07 PM
118

This is why no sex before marriage works. Weeds them out because they show their true intentions faster.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 06:58 PM
43

Let me guess - all the men in the comments are encouraging him to dump her. Good on her for sticking to her decision.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/22 06:56 PM

I had someone I didn’t even formally date come back after 1.5 years, close to 2 years, out of nowhere. He’d abruptly deleted me from social media before and I thought I’d never hear from him again. It’s really true that they pop up again. I read his rambly message and laughed. I didn’t respond, too little too late from him.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy11/03/22 11:15 PM
13

And then they chastise us for not settling down.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/03/22 10:08 PM
6

This.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/03/22 10:07 PM
97

What an absolute psychopath.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/03/22 01:59 AM
15

True, I’m also looking for someone of my own cultural background which makes it tougher
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 10:38 PM
33

I felt chemistry last time I was on the apps, but this round, I’ve been on date after date (with different people) and feel absolutely nothing, no attraction, no butterflies.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 10:15 PM
22

What if you have the ick for everyone?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 10:14 PM
24

True, and she’ll go on to live her best life. Leaving OR going NC if you’re dumped are the only two ways to go.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 02:33 AM
93

He’s not capable of loving anyone. He’s a total POS
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 02:16 AM
8

Waiting until marriage can be a good way to see how serious they are.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/03/22 02:28 PM
10

This is why I think waiting for marriage to have sex works (I understand it may not be for everyone, though). It weeds out the non-marriage-minded quickly. And there are other ways to test for sexual compatibility. Sure, there’s a risk that there will be some bedroom incompatibility. But there also risks that not waiting brings, like getting pregnant as a forever gf, STDs, etc.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/03/22 02:27 PM
251

“Men who are cheap with money are cheap with love, too.” This right here is the truth. We need to shout it from the rooftops.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/03/22 05:54 PM
212

“We are not legally married” Smh
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/03/22 03:23 PM
21

I really dislike Ted
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/03/22 02:30 PM
61

I think the Uber story is a different woman.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/03/22 01:56 PM
9

Why did he feel the need to say he doesn’t have feelings for her? What’s he trying to prove? Who ended that relationship? Some questions to think about.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/03/22 07:33 PM
13

11 relationships at 28? 🚩
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/03/22 07:32 PM
4

Out of curiosity, did he break up with you, or did you break up with him?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/03/22 08:43 PM
12

Even if they say they want a relationship, it could be a lie smh, some men are just saying what they think women want to hear
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/02/22 07:44 PM
11

Also adding, badmouthing women of his own race can show he has serious issues with his mother.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/02/22 05:48 PM
59

Also another reason to he wary: a lot of times men who say this mean: “I don’t want to date a woman of my own culture right now, but once it’s time for me to settle down I will drop you like a hot potato and marry someone my family and I approve of.”
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/02/22 03:16 AM
96

A red flag that shows he’s misogynistic. Trust me, if he badmouths women of his own race, run and don’t look back.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/02/22 03:14 AM
15

It wasn’t even passionate love, it was limerance + a trauma bond

Interesting, may you please expand on this? I got dumped for my waiting until marriage stance - after he dangled marriage over my head like a carrot for months
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/02/22 12:22 AM
1

Even waiting until marriage?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/02/22 12:21 AM
2

Why is that the case?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/02/22 05:31 AM

Your intuition knows before you know. With my ex, sometimes my intuition screamed that something was off but I kept pushing it down.

They do.

When they dump you and try their luck on the dating apps and realize they aren’t having success, they love you too
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy16/02/22 12:01 AM
67

They come back with hurt egos even if they did the dumping - provided that you go NC and move on with your life. Exhibit A: https://www.reddit.com/r/FemaleDatingStrategy/comments/st6zp7/the_red_flags_the_entitlement_the_audacity Exhibit B: this dude I didn’t even formally date who blocked me on social media after I didn’t respond positively to his phone call contacted me today after a year and a half. A year and a half.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/02/22 11:59 PM

Men need to stop saying “the one that got away” and actually be honest and say “the one I let get away.”

Absolutely

Your last paragraph about her rejecting him for a lifetime is chef’s kiss material.

100% this
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/02/22 06:47 PM

It always works like this, doesn’t it Dumper or dumped, men regret it after they make their rounds on the dating apps
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/02/22 06:47 PM

Disgusting move by him and great move by you! They don’t deserve to know what they did wrong

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/02/22 04:59 AM

This is 100% true, most men don’t marry the woman they love(d) the most. Case in point: had a guy tell me that one of his exes from a few years ago was the one he “loved the most.”

I’m curious how you have seen these post-breakup behaviors play out if the man was the dumper
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/02/22 11:31 PM

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/02/22 04:02 AM

What if the man dumps but the woman goes NC? Does he still have those feelings of wanting control and ego?

A great book on BC is “This Is Your Brain on Birth Control.” It can literally change who you’re attracted to. Some women were on BC when they met their SOs and found they lost all attraction once they got off it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 09:56 PM
34

This is true to an extent, except I don’t think their “plenty of fish in the sea” worldview is accurate. Yes, they have it, but it’s not true that it’s real. Look up stats on the reality of online dating for men - low match rates and the number of men vastly outnumbers the number of women.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 07:18 PM
9

This is great insight! My ex at first said he’d “already had his fun” and was ok with w waiting when I first told him, but let’s just say his actions proved otherwise and he eventually dumped me over it
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 05:44 PM

They can pine even if they dump and cut contact - there are tons of posts in the break up subreddits that show this bizarre phenomenon
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 03:10 PM

They tend to pine even when they dump! Because the dating scene is extremely terrible for men.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 03:08 PM

Men tend to have a one that got away more than woman for various reasons, one of them being that for the majority of men, finding a “replacement” on the ex’s level (regardless of who dumped who) is a Herculean goal which they usually don’t accomplish.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 03:05 PM

I’m waiting for non religious reasons and I don’t care if the man is a virgin or not, as long as he’s willing to wait. I’m also not seeking a religious man which makes it harder. Are you waiting too?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 12:39 AM

What if I’m not religious? I’m waiting for personal reasons
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/22 12:39 AM

So is the solution to see if a man who is already had sex will wait? Even if they weren’t waiting before?

He also complained that he just saw me on the weekends, that it would take a while before we’d be ready for marriage, and asked me to move in with him. He then shot down every alternative I gave for seeing each other more - and dumped me the next night over the phone.

I agree with this, but I think in the past my ex thought I wasn’t into him because we didn’t see each other more than during the weekends. However you’re 100% right, it’s a good way to evaluate where you stand.

Unfortunately - and I say this because I’ve seen this happen - some men from South Asia and MENA (or of those backgrounds) will string along American women for months and years, only to marry a woman from their own background later. They view American women as “fun” material and women from their own background as “serious” material. It’s messed up. I’m sorry he wasted so much of your time.

What about the reverse? I posted this in AskFDS but in case the post isn’t approved I’m curious if I did the right thing: Guy on OLD who lives in a town close to me was going to be in town, and we decided on a time to meet. He said we could meet somewhere close to me. He then goes “text me the address of where to meet” and gave me his number. For some reason this gave me the “ick” because it showed a lack of effort. This story teaches us a few lessons: a man can show abusive tendencies much later and mask his true self for a long time sometimes their true colors show after the marriage papers have been signed a man who crosses your boundaries once will do it again leave at the first sign of him crossing your boundaries/abusing you in any form do not give him the benefit of the doubt. Of course the family and friends will defend him, but is your health and life at stake You can and should leave at the first …

Good find! I guess the thing is I have to find a man who is genuinely willing to wait, and not just say he is while trying to change my mind/hoping I change my mind. My ex said he was ok with waiting and the relationship went on for months before he bailed. He was trying to slowly change my mind and saw it wasn’t happening.

Sometimes I worry I’ll never find anyone bc I’m not religious and I have this outlook for myself. My ex once said, towards the end of the relationship, that he didn’t know why I was still waiting, because he “was already here.” He had talked about marriage for months. This is why when men neg women that they hit “a wall” past 30, it’s projection. Women are always more desired and have more options at every age. Society lied to men that they can wait until like 33+ to find a wife. The most desperate men I’ve encountered on the dating apps are 33+. And I’m willing to bet they strung along a woman or two earlier in life. Those women are probably now married and the men can swipe left and right in their misery.

There was a comment I saw on another sub that summed it up perfectly: for thousands of years, women were forced to be with men they didn’t want to be with. Now, at least in the US and some other countries, that’s not the case anymore. Men aren’t “guaranteed” a wife anymore and can’t get away with LV behaviors.

I would be careful about this. I’m not an expert - but in his book, “The Gift of Fear,” Gavin de Becker talks about how restraining orders/public shame can sometimes be a bad idea, because that humiliation causes the stalker to retaliate even worse. Some women get killed the day they win their case for a restraining order, for example. He says with stalkers sometimes the best thing to do is completely disengage/go no contact. But again, this is highly dependent on the situation, and de Becker ma…

Originally he said we could get married in 2 years from what I remember. Omg “personal food cop.” My ex: criticized people buying junk food at the grocery store wanted to me stop eating a snack, implying I’d gain weight (I told him if he didn’t like me eating the snack he could go to another room and not watch) Said “it’s too late to eat” when I was super hungry and looking at things to order one night

Here’s an example of a major red flag. 28 yo on OLD openly admits he wants a woman with daddy issues. Even if he’s just saying so “in jest” this is code for: “I want a woman who will be (co)dependent on me, and who I can manipulate, use, and emotionally abuse using her fear of abandonment to my advantage.” If a man says or implies he wants a woman with daddy issues, even as a “joke,” run and do not look back. This is a man who wants control and is poorly disguising it as something else.

What about if you were dumped, and he did the dumping? Got dumped because I didn’t want to have premarital sex, something he said he was ok with when I was upfront with him before we became official. Then after months of marriage talk initiated by him he left, the day after I said no to moving in before marriage. I know it’s not HV thinking but I keep questioning if sticking to my values was worth it.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. My NVX once told me he thought some of his former flings were “sluts” but said when he dumped me that because I didn’t want premarital sex, I was ultimately “too proper” for where he was in life at the moment

My NVX left me in part to play the field. He might end up like his boss, who was a playboy into his 40s (I think he briefly found someone but she probably realized he’s an asshole who at 40+ won’t change and left him)

This is so true. My NVX would take “no” to doing something in the moment, then try again. I told him I didn’t feel heard. He was so used to getting sex whenever he wanted that “no” was a challenge to him. At one point regarding doing something (not PIV) he said: “Just try it once, if you don’t like it, you don’t have to do it again.” I now realize how manipulative and gross that was of him.

You don’t know the reality of their relationships. Here’s an anecdote. Recently someone in my social circle got back with her LVM ex after he dumped her. They’re getting married in a few months. At first I was jealous because she got her ex back, he came back to her, and they’re getting married - and my NVX didn’t do any of those things. But recently I heard about the reality of their relationship. Let me put it this way: she’s not a happy bride-to-be and has serious doubts about him. His promis…

I personally only want to date someone from my own cultural background. I’ve gone on dates with people outside of my background and my first relationship was with someone outside of my cultural background, and in those situations I felt like there just a gap in our connection. True story: a few weeks ago I turned down a desperate 40 year old on OLD and literally just said he was too old for me and he goes, “older is much better, I promise.” Nope, I want someone I can grow old with, not watch grow old. Go find someone your own age, maybe you should have thought of this when you were screwing around in your 20s and 30s
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/11/21 04:35 AM

Lmao delusional. If this were true men in their 40s, 50s, and beyond wouldn’t be desperately sending women in their 20s and 30s messages on OLD. Willing to bet that 99% of those men ditched a serious gf or 2 to “play the field” and now they are 50 and “want kids someday”

100%. My NVX backed out of a planned trip a week before it was supposed to happen, I said I’d go alone, and he dumped me the night before my vacation. I personally wear the clothes and makeup I love the most in relationships and adjust based on where we are going. For dates, I wear what I feel best in if I think there’s potential, if it’s a “research/get to know men better date” I experiment more with colors etc.

I don’t know the details of your relationship beyond what you’ve described, so make of this what you will, but a 12 year age gap is too big imo. When you turn 50, he’ll be 62. When you’re 70, he’ll be 82. He may not want to do the things you want to do etc as he gets older
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/10/21 08:32 PM

He turned out to be a manipulative person with little to no empathy and character

“I don’t deserve you” “I hate that I keep doing this to you” And the kicker, said about a week before he (NVX) dumped me on the phone the night before my vacation: “I’ll never make you cry again”

“If she’s not putting out she’s USING YOU” I think this is how my NVX felt. When I said no to moving in before marriage, and combined with my no sex before marriage stance, he said he “felt like the biggest idiot.” Implying that I was using him and he was getting nothing in return 😡

I’m curious about this too. I’m friends with my first ex (see earlier comment), but it’s a loose friendship and we live in different states. Break up was mutual and he wasn’t an asshole. Edit: we also never had sex so that changes the dynamic I feel
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/10/21 08:33 PM

I’m friends with only one ex (college and some post college bf) and that breakup was 100% mutual due to him deciding he didn’t want children. By the end of it he felt more like a brother to me than an SO. We keep in loose contact and live in different states. However, I feel like this is the exception and not the rule. Edit: I’ve never had sex so that also changes the dynamic of that friendship with that ex

So true. I remember one time my NVX said he’d refuse to read a parenting book on why corporal punishment harms kids because he didn’t need someone else telling him how to raise his kids. He said he’d give these future kids three chances and then use corporal punishment if they didn’t get in line. He also said he’d dictate his future kids’ career choices and only let them enter certain careers, for instance he wouldn’t let them become a teacher because “those who can’t, teach.” 🤢

This is a case where a man turns on his wife after she gives birth. Perhaps one way to vet for this is to see how he treats younger family members like nieces and nephews, but until a baby of his own is born, there’s not a 100% way to know… curious what vetting strategies can be used here

I felt like this with my ex. He called some of the girls he’d slept with in the past “sluts” and “broken.” I was clear I didn’t want to have sex before marriage from the start so I got placed in the “Madonna” category with time and he bailed.

I agree with this, but with one caveat - some LVM say “relationships aren’t supposed to be hard” as code for “relationships shouldn’t take effort and sacrifice”. Meaning, they expect to coast through it without putting in effort.

I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that. Your story sent a shiver down my spine because I realized had I married my NVX, my life and my future kids’ lives would have played out similarly. This is a great point. I’m curious what your thoughts are on men who say they don’t want a SAHM. My NVX said he disagreed with the notion of SAHM because it made women gossipy and lazy, and said he wants a partnership where both people contribute outside the home. He claimed he didn’t care about the money but said he’d “have to understand” how much I’d want to reduce my work hours by after having kids. Was that a red flag?

Here’s a husband building resentment for his pregnant wife for a move he knows is the wrong timing - his poor wife and kid, and the unborn one too, will take the likely oncoming emotional abuse that will stem from this. What’s one way to vet for this? Get an idea early on about what his relationship to money and his job is. Does he prioritize them above all else? Bc if so, you’ll never come first. My NVX for example, openly admitted he was greedy and materialistic. His job came first, and once i…

Here’s a LVM who quickly showed himself for who he is, exhibiting a major red flag when he went berserk and mansplained why considering pets as your children shouldn’t be a thing. This is why blocking and deleting is a must! And the scary thing is he lives in her apartment complex. I fear for her safety.

Yes! There were times with my NVX when my intuition was screaming that something was wrong with him, but I kept pushing it down. Like when he pointed and yelled “homeless person!” Making a spectacle out of a homeless man, I was so uncomfortable and disgusted but excused his behavior with “oh he’s just immature.” But my gut knew I was dealing with someone with little to no empathy. Listen to your gut.

I’m waiting for marriage to have sex for cultural and personal reasons. It makes dating harder and I was dumped by my NVX because of it after 8 months of him dangling the promise of marriage in front of me like a carrot; he once even asked “didn’t you want to experience personal growth?” When I told him I made my decision in college (as if having sex is the only thing that equates to personal growth). But, with that choice, I’ve been able to avoid STDs, babies, unnecessary emotional engagements,…

My NVX was an aggressive asshole type and my whole perception of what’s appropriate and what’s a good middle ground between the types is skewed. How do you find a balance?

The whole “you should be grateful to date me” mentality LVM have pisses me off. One time my NVX said “you’re the one I picked” as if I should be honored and also said “we come from different social circles so my going with your no sex before marriage boundary should tell you something about my level of commitment” 🤢

This is so true. I’m friends with my first bf (we never had sex and broke up mutually due to a difference in life goals) and I did mention it early on to my recent NVX to make sure I didn’t cross any boundaries. But what these guys do is totally different

Sure, but this is different. HVM won’t hold a torch for their former flames and won’t dump them to play the field, thinking they can get someone (edit: in their belief, “upgrade”) well into old age. Hence the whole “starter gf/wife” thing you see with some high-powered men

Guess I set the standard for my NVX then… I was his first serious gf. He’d been with around 40 women on a casual (including ONS) basis before

My NVX was once mad at his female colleague at work, and insulted her by saying “she’s 30 and still single.” Well at least she’s not tied to an asshole…

100%. Recently came across a 52 YO who’s never been married or had kids but who wants kids… you just KNOW he probably decided to play the field in his 20s and 30s and believed the lie that “men get better with age” and “younger women will line up” for the chance to have his babies

This is the type of mindset that I see all the time on OLD. Men have bought into the lie that they get better with age, while we “hit a wall.” They think that young women will line up to be with them, when the reality is they probably can’t get a woman their own age because no woman their age wants them, so they turn to more impressionable young women. This is a particularly gross case because he thinks he’s entitled to a young woman who is a virgin, and at 51, wants more kids! He’s not even thi…

Yes with my NVX sometimes my intuition screamed at me that something was off about him but I kept pushing it down. In the end I learned to trust my intuition

My NVX told me on date 2 that he didn’t like the fact that he has low empathy. Early on in our relationship he texted me, “I don’t deserve you.” He told on himself and I didn’t listen. Now I know better!

This is why it’s so important to write a list of red flags after every relationship so you don’t ever risk going back. I’m in the process of finishing my list with NVX and I’m disgusted with myself for what I put up with… and am remembering that yes it was real, I’m not imagining the stuff he did.

They way he reacted when I told him about my acquaintance with cancer. My acquaintance with cancer had posted on social media that they were dying because the chemo hadn’t worked, and were entering hospice, so anyone with last words for them should reach out. I told my NVX this while waiting to be seated for dinner. Seeing that news had messed me up and I wanted to talk to someone about it. He instantly got this disgusted look on his face, said that my acquaintance was “just looking for clout, j…

This is so true. My NVX had previously on had casual things going on with 40 women, I was his first serious relationship, and he made it seem like he was some sort of prize that “chose” me. But his sexual past was indicative of attachment issues and a history of objectifying women. I should have left him early on but he ended up dumping me.
