Haha that is a funny compliment, because someone would only make that comment if they thought my results were desirable. I don't see this as some tremendous success, just practice. So I accept their praise, but don't respond to it, because they're clearly not interested in learning from me. It's like when a girl tells you she's not interested - what do you really gain by continuing to try? She's made up her mind.

Forget traditional. Do what you can, man. That feeling of productivity, of contribution to the world, does a lot. If you can code, you will be compensated handsomely. Definitely follow that path if it is available to you. Money might not be everything, but it most definitely moves the needle on your happiness if you have a disability.

That is most likely the case. But I don't like to leave any room for doubt, so I would say "nope, I'd like to take you out :)" I would rather take the short term rejection than the long term wondering "what if?" Also, even if she is not interested, I find that she will respect me more for being honest about my intentions. The awkwardness is worth it.
