Indeed, karma is a bitch! Firmly believe that. Got to see my dad at least, not a total waste of a day.

Ex is currently keeping me from seeing my daughter for the usual made-up reasons. I’m fighting it through the proper legal channels but today is really hard. Been looking back at old pics and videos and thinking of better days ahead. Hug those kiddos for me fellow dads, happy Father’s Day!

Simple. Sell it, and the bank gets paid off before you get any money. Anything left over after the bank gets paid is split according to whatever is decided in your divorce. People sell houses they’re still paying the mortgage on every day, it’s not an issue.

Worked, no worrying about writing a fake gushy social media post, hung out with my daughter for a few hours which was great, now I’m watching old episodes of Top Gear on YouTube and relaxing. Best Valentine’s Day I’ve had in years!

She wants to be friends. I’m willing to be friend-ly for the sake of our daughter, but the shit she pulled when I told her I wanted a divorce makes actual friendship impossible.

Peace, a better relationship with my daughter, and I got myself back.

You can do it brother. I dealt and am dealing with the same shit. 4 year old daughter, abusive ex wife that tried to get me locked up and kept from my little girl. I’m broke as hell, but I fucking won. You know your truth and don’t you dare stop fighting for it. The court system is trash but you can get to the other side and keep your relationship with your kids intact and healthy. Don’t let the bitch win, just keep telling yourself that.

Yoda the sex therapist is a great idea. “Pregnancy…alimony…trauma…the ways of the dark side are they. To professional you must go, yes. Complete your training!”

Lol I’d award this comment if that was still a thing. I’ve actually considered taking up martial arts for the workout aspect, some days it’s hard to go to the gym just to lift

She kept saying over and over again “You don’t mean that, stop it.” Not once did she say she didn’t want me to leave her or that she loved me or anything, just “you don’t mean that”. When she realized I did mean it, she lied to anyone that would listen and got me in a bunch of trouble. Tried to take my kid away from me, etc. The standard playbook unfortunately. (It didn’t work btw, I have a good lawyer)

You’ll probably get to keep the car, but you might have to buy her out of any portion that was paid towards the loan while you were married. You said you paid it together for 2 years, so legally she could ask you to pay her back for half the amount of 2/5 of the car’s depreciated value or some complicated shit like that. If you bought it before you were together and her name isn’t on the title, you shouldn’t have to give up the car though.

I genuinely don’t care. Any mutual friends were my friends first that she absorbed into her life, and she doesn’t talk to them. She tried telling one of my friends (of 20 years) some nonsense about me, but the friend didn’t believe her. She actually told me later that it was like my ex was delusional, kind of like she was trying to pass off something she saw on TV as something that happened to her but the story didn’t make sense. Short version, anyone she’d tell things about me to isn’t someone …

It depends on your state, this is really a question for a lawyer. I know where I live, my lawyer told me it didn’t matter who filed first. And it didn’t end up mattering, she made all sorts of wild accusations in her filing that added up to a big pile of nothing.
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/23 04:07 AM

Yup, did exactly that. She’s got a job and makes roughly the same as I do, no reason she should have access to my whole paycheck when hers never even went to the joint account in the first place. Found out after we separated that she actually makes quite a bit more money than she had led me to believe, surprise surprise 🤔

That’s what mine did, and succeeded. I still own the house with her and will get my money out of it, but it creates all sorts of additional/expensive headaches. Honestly though I’m better off living in my own place instead of staying in the house and trying to keep a peaceful home for our daughter while we go through the divorce process.

Not at all, it’s been brutally hard and expensive but I’d do it again in a second. Just with a little better planning before I dropped the bomb.

This is exactly what I’m dealing with right now. She’s digging her own grave though, has no idea that we’ve already caught her lying in writing. The GAL confirmed it on her own, and I’m planning to file for full custody.

Fuck her green card man, take it from a guy who didn’t leave right away when the abuse turned physical. It’ll only get worse. I’m also like a foot taller than my ex, and very much look like the biker I am. I hear you. But if you’ve got proof and you call? She’s done.

You don’t need to get the government involved to commit yourself to a woman you love. If I met the right one, I’d happily spend the rest of my life with another woman, sharing everything, living together, etc. I’m even open to having more kids if it happens before I’m 40. But I will never get married again, divorce is a fucking nightmare.

Unless it’s in your court docs from the divorce, don’t bother with what she thinks about it. If you’re both serious about the relationship and feel like it’s time for her to meet your kids, the ex shouldn’t have a say in that at all.

Gym. I was already going a few times a week, but after we separated and she started up with the BS child abuse accusations, I started going six days a week and lifting the heaviest goddamn weights I could lift. Pretty much stopped doing cardio. And it’s helped keep me sane. Plus I can see and feel the results which has the added benefit of Jack black voice making me more attractive…to the ladies. Also been working on and riding my motorcycle a lot more. And therapy helped a lot.

Guarantee she’s talked to a lawyer and is plotting to screw you somehow. Get one of your own, if it’s actually this easy then it won’t cost you very much in the big picture. But if she’s secretly working a plan to bleed you dry? You’ll wish you had hired a lawyer from the start. Lawyer up my man.

I would think so, yeah. Considering she initiated it, I’d actually be shocked if she didn’t ask our mutual friend about me first. Mutual friend’s boyfriend is one of the guys I ride with and he’s known we’re separated for awhile now. Bottom line is everyone says I should be up front about it, and I was leaning that way anyways. So that’s what I’m gonna do, and if it scares her off then so be it. Someone said in the comments that it’s her choice if she wants to date a guy that’s still legally mar…

Makes sense. Marriage is just the legal entanglement of a committed relationship, so it’s messier to dissolve.

This checks out, especially because she’s close with quite a few of my friends.

This has crossed my mind too. I’m not ready for dating yet, we’re only 2 months into the process and the idea of opening myself up to another woman makes me queasy right now anyways. But when I said I wanted a divorce she made a bunch of false DV claims, said I was abusing our daughter, and had me arrested. None of it is true, so there’s no proof at all. But when you Google my name, guess what pops up? I’ve always been leery of online dating anyways, but I’m guessing I’ll probably have better lu…

Don’t spend the money trying to prove anything you don’t have to. I feel your pain and went through the exact same thing, but all you have to prove is that you’re a good dad and a safe person for your kid(s) to be around. anything else just costs money and makes the lawyers rich.

This is a lot of how I’m feeling as well. I don’t miss her. I miss what I thought I had, but it was never real and over the last couple years I realized that until I finally asked for a divorce. I was already grieving the relationship before it officially ended, so my head is very clear now. Focusing on bettering myself and taking care of myself, so I can be the best dad to my daughter. She’s the most important thing in the world and none of her mom’s lies will get a reaction from me anymore, I …

When I told my wife I wanted a divorce, she kept saying “you don’t really mean that” and “but that would be awful you’ll never see your kid and you won’t know what’s going on in her life” and “well you can file but I won’t sign the papers”. Fast forward and she’s filed a BS restraining order alleging all kinds of abuse against her and my kiddo that never happened. And then she filed for divorce before I had a chance to lol. My lawyer is great though, she reminded me it doesn’t matter who files f…

Run far away from her my friend. My STBX did this exact same shit to me TWICE. I didn’t learn the first time, we separated for almost a year and then got back together and bought a house. Fast forward to present day 3 years later, and she calls the cops after we calmed down an argument and I had stepped outside. Told them I hit her and threatened to kill her, all kinds of lies. Spent the night in county jail because of her lies. I don’t care about her anymore, and she can have the house if she w…

My STBX is the same way. No matter what you say or do, they take it personally even if there’s literally nothing accusatory or aggressive in your words. The last fight we had was started by her over the amount of syrup each of us puts in chocolate milk! At the end of the day, you need to do what’s best for you and for your daughter. You aren’t responsible for your wife’s actions. Don’t let her gaslight you into thinking it’s your fault. Your daughter is the same age as mine, they’re smart and pe…
