It's a lot cheaper than having to help pay for paid childcare(speaking from a US perspective, maybe it's not as expensive there). Plus a lot more beneficiary for the kid to be spending that time with a parent than some stranger. I have known some women that did the math, and it was cheaper to just quit the job and stay home. If they worked and did daycare, daycare would have cost more per year than they made.

Each gender is allowed to get 2.5 years off when a kid is born, paid, they cannot take it at the same time though. This takes care of the years before they are enrolled in school, and eliminates the need to pay for child care. I think that is an excellent system to have.

In canada it has done extremely well actually. Beer and alcohol is literally twice the price of what it is in the US due to taxes, only the government can sell alcohol. Can you cite your sources? I am having a hard time tracking down anything that says that you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in someone else's home. The only thing I have found is wiretapping laws that some states have reguarding audio. 39 states it is legal with one person's consent. Also, I am in canada now, and so far the laws seem to be very similar here. Illegal to record anywhere you have an expectation of privacy, such as public bathrooms.

I do not like communal showers like that at all either to be honest. I do not like seeing other dudes naked. I have never taken a shower in one. Something as simple as a curtain setup is not something that even needs an architect. On a side note, in jr. high and highschool, we had communal showers in the locker rooms, and literally no one used them after gym class.
