I'm not super sure if or where you are or are not being sarcastic, but the wage gap is not dismissed based on the assumption that women's choices account for it. Nor is "gender differences are due to individual choices" a general principle by which we make unfounded reasoning. There is a lot of evidence to support the claim that the great majority of the wage gap, at least in America, is accounted for by individual choice, and not by discrimination.

I think of rape as penetrating somebody else's body without consent. If they stuck things in him, it's rape. I suppose that if they forced him to stick things inside himself, then it's effectively rape, but, I don't think that, say, forcing him to have sex with an animal (which is the only thing the article implies happened) is rape. I believe there are statistics to that effect, which they're referring to - for instance, women are more likely to be murdered than men in domestic violence cases - but I'm not aware of any other quantitative stats. I'm just trying to say that they aren't really assuming women are weaker.
