Alright we are just going in circles at this point and I have lost interest. Point is, circumcision grief is not a choice for those that have it, arguing you can choose not to have it because you personally don’t just shows that you don’t have it. We both think circumcision of infants is bad, let’s do all we can to stop it.

Yea I mean you could...but you have the choice not to which is awesome and I am jealous. But also, that’s not the whole picture nor is that a choice for everyone to make still. I feel like I keep making the same point and im not trying to be argumentative, but you have somehow ignored it because you personally haven’t experienced it. Just because you don’t have circumcision grief you assume other people have a choice to somehow have superhuman control to rewire how their brain works. Just becaus…

I am not trying to say grief and depression are the same, but rather telling someone "just get over it" for circumcision grief has correlations to the latter. Circumcision grief is just the term used to describe something, but it isn't as simple as boiling down one type of grief, such as losing a loved one, is the same as another type. Nor would I argue it is necessarily the best term to even use. That is the one that has been adopted and widespread and it will suffice for the purposes it serves…

There are enough things you can know that lead to circumcision grief though. It’s not just about not knowing the difference personally. Let me try another analogy. I feel like the way your viewing this is like someone who doesn’t have depression telling a person with depression why they should just not have it. “just be happy, it’s not like anything bad is happening to you Right now, you have nothing to be depressed about” It’s not a simple thing to explain, so I don’t really know how to describ…

Circumcision grief isn’t a choice though. Imagine if a girl is raped and she suffers psychologically afterwards, she isn’t choosing to suffer from the psychological fallout that comes from a physical act, it just happens.

For adults is important because adult males have access to forms of pain mediation that infants do not. Many if not most infants are not given adequate pain relief during the procedure, and none are given anything during the recovery period.

I am pretty certain every culture that cuts women also cuts men. In those scenarios it's not like the women are held down and cut with a dirty knife, and the men are taken to a first rate sanitized hospital. Comparing ritual female circumcision to medicalized male circumcision is not a fair comparison. The only way to compare the two is medicalized male circumcision vs. medicalized female circumcision and ritual male circumcision vs. ritual female circumcision. When compared in this regard, ther…

Circumcision definitely does not protect against HIV the way some make it out to. I’m just trying to say it’s more complicated than just higher circumcision is equivalent to higher HIV. There are confounding factors that need to be considered for anyone claiming either side. Edit: dirty needles is an example of one factor and used to be a prevalent way people contracted HIV. Nowadays they have disposable needles so it’s not as much of an issue but it was in the past. The first article under the …

HIV rates in America are not necessarily related to circumcision status. Dirty needles account for much more of the infections then unprotected sex, so it is not accurate to crossover the data to show circumcision increases HIV just as it is disingenuous to use that data to show Circumcision will decrease HIV. Also, the HIV propaganda used to promote circumcision is from female to male transmission data. American HIV rates from intercourse have a lot of male to male transmission, which no study …

I think the biggest proponents of continuing it are new fathers who were cut at birth and in denial of the harm. For someone to go against circumcising their child they have to admit to themself that being intact is better than being cut, and they can’t rationalize it. There are obviously other reasons such as religion but the majority in my experience (in the U.S.) is not religious. The new moms tend to allow the father to make the final say, and their confirmation bias blinds them to the ethic…

It depends on the state, my state was 4 years after 18, which was worthless because I was 23 when I learned about it. Furthermore, if your parents signed the consent form which is the the majority of the cases, you are pretty much completely out of luck, so let's not get people's hopes up.

The issue with believing any American institution is they cannot be relied upon to be unbiased. Whether the AAP was biased, (see link) and then the CDC just adapted the AAP's decision, and then the Mayo clinic maybe took the AAP's position as well (not sure just speculation). Well the AAP position expired but if that led to the CDC position which isn't expired yet but based on the same conclusion from the 8 people who were biased then why would it be any more reliable? Almost every other pediatr…

Do you hate your parents for it(not /s)? My parents believed the doctor when he told them it should be done to prevent penile cancer. We now know this, and every other medical reason has been a fabrication of propaganda and disproven. They thought what they were doing was in my best interest, as almost all parents probably think. Do I hate them? No. Will I ever forgive them? No. It was a different time and they did not have access to accurate information that may have made them realize the docto…

You didn't answer my first question so I will ask again. Why do you think parents rights should supercede human rights? So it should be illegal to tie someone down and cut them at 10 days old? What exactly is the difference between a 9 day old and 11 day old that makes it seem like there is less moral implication at play? What if I want to cut my 12 year old? The law upholds that I have parental rights so I should be able to do that right? Are we creating some new category of human age where inf…

So why do you think parents rights should supercede human rights? So a child is not an adult, therefore they don't deserve their rights to be upheld until they are 18? At what age exactly should it be illegal to tie someone down and forcibly remove parts of their genitals? Should you be able to do that to a 17 year old? What if you went to your parents house and woke up to find they had you sedated and removed part of your penis? What age exactly is that ok or not ok? 21? 18? 15? 12? 9?

Your joke makes no sense if you understand the anatomy of a penis though. All of the sensitive parts are on the inside and the foreskin protects them so there is no rubbing against your underwear.

Why the desire for a rebuttal? I wasn’t really trying to argue over semantics. “...surpasses personal regret over a clear understanding of harm caused or wrong doing.” “...or even the realisation it causes harm” Wouldn’t these statements contradict your original claim of they know what they did? This gives me the impression they really don’t understand what they did. Based on your use of the word nappies I am going to assume you are not American, but correct me if I’m wrong. While you may have experienced a mother’s regret, I don’t believe it’s the norm by any means. The cultural context plays a role in how people think (cultural cognition) and living in an area with an 80%+ circumcision rate would destroy your perceptions rather quickly. If your argument held water you would see mothers opting not to circumcise their later children because they learned thei…

Merriam-Webster also has a biased definition of circumcision. The definition of Circumcision on Merriam-Webster: 1: the act of circumcising a:: the cutting off of the foreskin of males that is practiced as a religious rite by Jews and Muslims and by others as a social custom or for potential health benefits (as improved hygiene) b: FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION The definition of FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION: : a procedure performed especially as a cultural rite that typically includes the total or pa…

I completely agree and have myself hypothesized this theory. Some experts criticize the studies claiming circumcision is a cure-all for HIV and STDS using this as one of the reasons. Lack of sex education and promotion of propaganda in Africa that circumcision will prevent the men from getting HIV may have devastating long term outcomes if they believe they are protected from HIV, and find they can no longer wear a condom because they feel nothing.

So a UTI is at the fault of the caregiver, not the status of circumcision? Awesome job proving my point! That means you agree that it is not circumcision that prevents UTI, but other confounding variables. Preventive medical procedures need more and stricter justification than do therapeut…

Already answered your question on religion, again using a deflection fallacy to talk about religion again when it had nothing to do with previous statement. You are the one pushing something on someone else. I am literally arguing that you should not commit forced body modifications of infants, and you are arguing that it is ok. That is the basis of the argument. The hypocritical statement of you "not pushing something on someone" yet arguing for pushing circumcision on a baby that can't consent…

The logic behind your arguments for circumcision is best done when they are newborns is seriously flawed and unscientific if you think it has anything to do with "bodies uncorrupted by junk crap food and other garbage." Cultural Bias in the AAP's 2012 Technical Report "The conclusions of the AAP Technical Report and Policy Statement are far from those reached by physicians in most other Western countries. It comes across as anti Semitic to the people who want to make that claim. It’s not but that’s just the reality of the situation. It needs to be literally any other country first. That’s why they backpedaled on their decision from 2012 because it’s bad PR for Germany to come across as anti Semitic.

Better start cutting out the breasts of children because treating their cancer as adults is more costly than cutting it out of them as a child. If the lack of logic and methodology that was used in this article was used the rest of medicine and brought to the extreme we would be slaughtering every baby being born because it is more cost efficient than a human that could get sick.

Finished restorers report a huge increase in sensation and it is almost nonexistent that people regret doing it. Time will pass whether you restore or choose not to. There is nothing pathetic about taking things into your own hands (pun intended) and working towards the best solution we have at the moment. Follow it up by looking into foreskin reconstruction (you don't have to even want to do it...just contact companies and get more information... I would look into foreskin restoration before reconstruction. Some people who have had reconstruction done wish they had restored instead. There is another surgery in order to attach the skin which can cause more nerve damage and the skin used is not actually inner mucosa or shaft skin so the sensation can vary.
