That's why you need to approach things holistically. While looks do fade character does not. Men aren't animals. They are visual for sure but they also appreciate other qualities. Developing a good personality, well rounded interests, and healthy habits are just as important as taking care of yourself physically. I don't think they miss this but they certainly emphasize looks more than anything else which I don't think is necessarily beneficial, a lot of women only focus on their looks and have …

There’s a few ways. I live in an upper class area with my parents near one of the biggest cities in America. Theres HVM all over. I’m lucky I guess, but also not lucky because theres gorgeous women all over too. Sometimes I meet them on dating apps (Hinge), other times through friends, and others through my family. I’ve had the most luck with dating apps honestly. I can really pick and choose on them and I’ve met a lot of really amazing guys off them. I would try dating apps if you dont live in …

I feel like if I have a connection with someone and I could see it turning into a serious relationship its fair for me to look at it from every angle. Aging and having kids is apart of that.

Something I will have to bring up. Thats one thing that makes me nervous, I know not all older men who pursue younger women are just in it for the fun of having an unestablished partner but that is definitely a discussion that should be had. Thank you!!

Oohhhh I didn’t even think about the grandchildren aspect. I think if we got serious and he really wanted children and we were married then I would consider it but I just want to enjoy my 20s without children. That and I want to be as stable as possible (mentally and otherwise) to give my children the best possible shot of developing a healthy mindset/coping mechanisms/all the other stuff that goes along with that. Something to definitely think about though. Thank you!

Thank you! We’re moving slowly so we can actually get to know each other. I’ll keep the baggage thing in mind.

I mentioned superficial things because weight and looks are inherently superficial and that was the topic of conversation. I am in the beginning stages in a career in advertising, I have been told I have a good sense of humor, I read books and journal everyday, I enjoy running, I’m a talented painter, I’m currently in the process of writing a book and am training for a marathon. I also come from a good family and was put in etiquette classes as a child so I know how to act in public and handle c…

I don’t have empathy for people who endorse racist rhetoric.

I’m unfollowing her, not starting a hate campaign. I could get into the difference between celebrating your heritage vs. celebrating just being white but I don’t think it would be useful. You seem to have your mind made up. Have a nice day.

I don’t agree with you. I think you need to educate yourself more on racism and white supremacy and the normalization of it all through people like her and maybe start to question the people you support. There are plenty of influencers who aren’t racists who give good beauty & cleaning tips.

You’re missing the part where she follows racist accounts on Instagram and let’s these accounts post pictures of her. Sure, she’s not in the KKK (as far as we’re aware), however she clearly supports racist rhetoric and that is where racism stems from. We can’t normalize this stuff and we can’t support people who are even just casually racist. It’s a moral thing, if all this stuff is ok for you then that’s on you. I can’t tell you how to live. But to me it’s morally wrong. I’m a white woman in a …

Just because you follow woc on social media and pin them on your beauty boards doesn’t mean you’re not racist. This is the same thing as being like “but I have a insert race here friend, I can’t be racist” like...that’s not how that works. She follows accounts that posts pictures with only white people with quotes about our “ancestors not mixing races so we shouldn’t either” and approving them to use her pictures...there’s absolutely no excuse for that. I don’t think the conversation was about f…

Can we just not assume what other peoples relationships are like based on your own assumptions and cynicism ?? I promise you my boyfriend does not look at me like a “hole” as you so eloquently put it and dating comes before marriage, it’s just what happens, no way around it. Don’t come on this sub if all you’re gonna do is spread bad faith. It’s weird.

I’m 21 and have been w my (24 y/o) boyfriend for eight months so take what I’m about to say w a grain of salt, aka if somebody older who has been in a long term relationship/marriage offers you different advice, go with theirs, BUT I think you should just drop this one and move on. You’re 22, prime age to find a HVM who has clear intentions and isn’t going to waste a year of your life going back and forth. In my opinion, online relationships aren’t worth anything. I don’t mean to be harsh when I…

A high value man to me is someone who is well educated, dependable, compassionate, and can take care of me in ways that women naturally want to be taken care of. I don't *need* to be provided for but I want to have the security of knowing my partner can and will if something were to happen. I also want the security in knowing he is stable enough to do so for our children. I also think setting goals and being able to achieve them is a huge part of success and being able to rethink things if thing…

Yes! I forgot about churches! I’m not super religious myself but I do know those are great ways to meet people. I would avoid the mega churches though. I haven’t heard very man good things about those. I would try to go to a small town one...one of my friends actually met her boyfriend because she sat next to his great aunt during service and I guess she was charmed enough by her to want to introduce her to him lol.

Hey girl! I’m 21 as well lol, I actually grew up in the Indiana and moved to Chicago a couple years ago (so went from a hardcore red state to a hardcore blue state lol )...all I have to say is most small towns in red states, which is where these more traditional guys would be, are very close knit meaning if you move there as a newcomer without having any ties there first it might be difficult for you to break into a social circle. I grew up in a small town in Indiana from 8-19 and I had a diffic…

THANK YOU for taking the time to type this out. This is what I was thinking the entire time. I’m not playing house. We’re not playing house. We’re merging into a team. I have more to offer than just sex and some fun on a Friday night. I’m there to cook dinner after a stressful day at work and I know he’d do the same for me in a heartbeat. I was looking for married women’s advice, not whatever this person (who doesn’t sound like somebody who has ever been in a serious relationship considering how…

I...don’t think you & I have similar values. Thanks for your advice but my boyfriend and I are very happy. He does plenty of things for me that me helping him out chores wise isn’t that big of a deal and I know he appreciates it. To me, relationships of any kind are about making each others lives easier in whatever way you see fit. He pays for my food/drinks when we go out because he knows I can’t afford it while I’m in school. I do his laundry when I see notice that his basket is full. It doesn…

hmmm...I definitely do listen to him about some things but others I don’t. I’m not building my future around him just yet but I do take his feelings and whatnot into consideration. I did not say I live with him. I don’t. I live at my parents while i go to school. We limit seeing each other to two or three times a week. Also, he doesn’t look at me as an object that he can get things from just like I don’t look at him as a bank machine or a place to stay when I don’t want to be at my parents. He views me as a person he’s in love with who shares similar values as him and vice versa. We’re not moving any further in our relationship until I graduate from school, get a job, and …

yooo he is very appreciative of the things I do for him...I definitely didn’t say anything about that. His mother was a housewife and he deeply respects her. I was just seeing where other people have drawn the line or even if they did at all.

We both want children...he knows I will not have his kids if there is not a ring on my finger. We also discuss our childhoods and how we were raised and talk about what we would change to raise kids. Just this morning he made a comment about him being my husband in the future. I’m really not worried about his ability to commit.

He definitely does know how to do things and while his cleaning isn’t exactly up to my standards it’s not a disgusting pig sty (ex. I dust as part of my cleaning routine, he doesn’t even think about it, that sorta thing). I really like how you explained it. The nice gestures vs. expected. That’s a really good rule of thumb and an easy thing to keep an eye out for although I haven’t had problems yet. Cheers!!

I really do not agree with you but I guess we’re all allowed to have our own opinions. I’m not sure how old you are but dating apps are the primary way to meet potential partners for gen z/younger millennials. Not to mention we’re in a pandemic, it’s basically our only choice. The dating game has changed and online dating is no longer just for losers who don’t know how to talk in real life. It’s more about efficiency and doing things with intention than anything for me. I don’t want to waste tim…

Oof, I really would not recommend putting negative things in your bio, dealbreakers come off super snotty in my opinion. I really like hinge because they give you prompts. I like to keep things short and sweet that might sound relatable. Like I think one of them was most irrational fear and I put sneezing while driving and crashing my car and I remember getting a lot of replies from that. as a “thick” woman myself I promise you things are not all that great over here...I naturally carry fat in my hips, ass, and boobs but that also comes with fat on my stomach (any naturally thick girl will say the same thing). I’m envious of women with a perfectly flat stomach, I would trade my boobs for a flat stomach any day of the week. However, beauty standards are always changing and we can’t control the cards we’re dealt, we can only work with them, and the grass always seems to be greener …

I agree. Men are allowed to be emotional, what men (and women too) are not allowed to be is controlled by it. It sounds like this man is having issues with anxiety. This is common and can be helped with therapy. Everyone has weaknesses, jumping ship at the sign of the first one is a recipe for perpetual unhappiness. He sounds like a great guy aside from this, OP, I would just discuss your concerns with him. If you feel like he takes care of you and you view him as a viable lifelong partner than …

I think any classics are good to read (first one I read was Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, still love it to this day). Classics are a solid choice because most educated people have read them and are an easy topic to discuss. After that finding a niche you enjoy is a good idea. I love prose, narratives, and essays. I recommend Too Much and Not The Mood by Durga Chew-Bose to literally everyone, it’s beautifully written. White Girls by Hilton Als is really good too. If you’re interested in …

That’s what I was thinking! I think decent condition paired w a pretty face and charm gets a girl further than just a nice body. Also, regarding your personality thing, one thing that helped me cultivate my personality is reading books. I might be giving unsolicited advice but people are always impressed when you can recommend books they might be interested in during conversation plus they give you more of a worldly view. Cheers!

I didn’t ask them about me in particular, I was asking what they look for/prefer when dating. Obviously having a pretty face and a hot body is ideal but I think most men would choose a pretty face and an average body over a 10/10 body and an average face for a long term relationship. The guy I dated before my current boyfriend would easily be in the top 1% of guys (25, making 6 figures, went to an Ivy League, over 6 ft) and I’m almost positive he was mostly attracted to my face which tbh I wasn’…

I would disagree with this post entirely...I’m not going to lie I don’t have the most amazing body it’s pretty average but I know I have a really pretty face. I’ve dated guys most would consider out of my league if you were just comparing bodies that have told me that my main feature that they were most attracted to was my face. I think a hot body helps for sure but most guys I’ve talked to (including my guy friends) say that face tops everything.
