3 dates or 3 weeks. Whichever is sooner, you should know by then if it will go to the long term. If not, stop what's happening and move on.

What you're saying is you have to forgive yourself for screwing up and learn from mistakes, but to even get to that point, you have to be willing to try. I can't find no fault with that.

I do well on the dance floor but dancing is a drug to me. I get wrapped up in the dancing that I don't talk to women because I'd rather dance.

If you're in second year it's going to be tough. You can study at coffee shops, but then you meet the problem of actually having to study. 3rd year you can get away with more free time on some chill rotations. But honestly, in the end, residency sucks time too. You will be forced to budget your time or you are looking at a 7 to 9 year moratorium on meeting women (med school + residency), and that's if you don't do a fellowship. You might not be type A like me but if you can schedule you're study…

Isn't there a difference between being kind and being submissive and praise seeking, though?

For dancing? Is it normal for guys to go to a club and have fun dancing by themselves? I honestly don't know, but I'm pretty sure society views this strangely. I only stop dancing at night clubs to get more water so I can continue dancing. Can't get enough!

I apologize, I can't listen to this at work. It's great that you're sharing your technique, but does the woman know you posted this online? It brings up some ethical concerns about privacy. Like I said, I can't listen to it now, but if there's any identifying info in your conversation that may be an issue EDIT: I'm not just saying this to OP. I do think that it's a good idea and that others should follow suit as long as they de-identify the people in their vids and sound clips.

Med student. I don't bring it up because people have very polarized views on (future) docs. What I have noticed is that since I started clinical rotations, I have more confidence approaching people. This is because I was forced to do it for 2 years. I'm not yet at the level of social smoothness on my own time as I am on rotations, but I am getting there.

Have you ever thought of counseling or talking to a doctor? The comments you've made here show that your negative self-image is pervasive. Even when you talk about being on a label (!) you say you think you are at least a bit talented. I've been there where people try and show you that you have redeeming qualities but you've found some way to deflect it all and dismiss any advice. I didn't realize I was suffering from depression. Usually clinicians ask about SIG E CAPS: Sleep: any changes? Inter…

Obliviousness. On Match of all places, this beautiful and smart girl approached ME and we set up a few dates. On the last date we had we walked to the parking lot and she does the whole lean to one side and head tilt and says "You know, I don't know why you hang out with someone as lame as me" and what do I do? I crack some jokes and say see ya around. Another time at a bar I got done on the dance floor and head to the bar for water. This girl i was having small talk with suggests that we do sho…

Nice. It seems like a lot of people forget there's plenty of ways to exude confidence, not just by bro-ing out.

Confidence means the strength to open up, the strength to progress, and the strength to not allow yourself to be affected by rejection.

Is it a actually a pedestal when there is a genuine mutual enjoyment of each other's company and mutual attraction? I always thought of the pedestal as pining for a lady from afar.

2 questions: How do I go clubbing solo and not feel like a weirdo? I love to dance but my friends don't dance (I'm not setting up for song lyrics I swear), but it honestly feels less fun than when I go with a group. I also don't drink, so I need to find other ways to channel IDGAF mode. When it comes to going out and trying to meet women I always shift my goals to getting work done, but I feel it's a defensive excuse to avoid approaching anyone. What advice can you give to break this habit?

You could say like Muhammad Ali or just call yourself the Thrilla in Manila if it bothers you that much but it sounds like you're way too in your own head when it comes to your name.

Essentially what you have done is that you've inadvertently put beautiful people on a pedestal (she looks good so she's got it easy). I'm no pro but I can tell you that everyone has their damage. Looks can help and hurt. If someone helps you out because you're a 10, you become objectified and those people are eyefucking you and helping you only in the off chance to gain carnal knowledge. The other extreme is that people who are bitter about looks that someone else has will attribute all your suc…

This to the max. My buddy who is balding and has a paunch is with a beautiful slender woman who does yoga. It sucks that you get told that but you need to have your confidence at the level where if women tell you that, it doesn't faze you and it doesn't change what you do.

Realizing that I'm no longer my quiet, submissive, nonsocial high school self. That regret is far worse than seeing that an approach won't pan out. That all the blowouts make for laughter filled stories in the end.
