I agree. That’s why I’m asking here and not in court. I get why it’s a bad idea, but it’s fun to workshop wild ideas here.

Thank you. I had court today. The judge wasn’t happy with some last minute shit they pulled. Essentially wasted the courts time and everyone else involved. Shortly after my council received an email asking if we’d be ok dropping the whole thing. I’m trying not to look at all the money and time wasted, all the days of being overtaken by the stress. I’m just looking ahead. And thanks for the award my friend. Be well.

Hang I there is too cliche but it’s legit advice. Play the long game man. Remember to do what you feel is best. You have to be able to look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day.

Didn’t ignore it, believed she was being truthful in her depiction of her ex.

I don’t care. That’s why I didn’t say anything to her about it and instead filled out an anonymous post about it. Sometimes it’s healthy to just vent my friend.

Just venting friend-o. Not holding on to it. Very much moved on.

Stay focused on the now. Try not to predict the future too much. It’s hard I know. You sound like you have great intentions and a lot of love intuit heart for your boys. Three can’t be easy to handle at once haha. It’s. A lot when jus my son and his cousin get together - they compete against one another in EVERYTHING! From who can catch a ball better, run faster, get upstairs faster, you name it. I also believe my ex regrets pushing me away. Especially with all that came out in court - her and h…

I am far from giving up. Two weeks after voluntarily leaving the marital home - over a year ago - she served me with a temporary restraining order. I fought it. Proved in court and had her admit she wasn’t afraid of me and that I’d never laid a hand on her or her daughter. It was expensive and a cost I can’t handle again. So I’m cautious, not giving up.

That my child will forget me is certainly an overstatement and an exaggeration. It does feel That way sometime. Making promises is actually something I already do, thanks for reinforcing the idea. Ex can outspend me all day, my goal is to show him life and love is not just what someone buys another.

When my ex and I split our retirement funds it was called a Qualified domestic relations order, or QDRO. Basically a specific type of company will verify the divided amount and authorize the split. Lawyer should be involved but it’s not required, just advisable.

I’ll never say never, but I’m strongly leaning towards never getting married again. Though I’ve learned a lot about myself and the red flags I experienced in my marriage, they’re not the only red flags to be had. That said, I would like to meet someone I’m with for the Lomb haul and that would include owning a house together. So I don’t yet know how did handle that stuff, joint purchases if we split up.

Dads want the best attorney for them, gender shouldn’t be a factor. I happened to have a female attorney (I’m male) but I picked her based on a recommendation and eventually a face to face with her. EX Wife had a female lawyer also - though I believe she picked her because she’s a woman.

This is more in-like with what I believe the problem to be. I don’t really enjoy being with these women and am just having sex for the sake of moving on or because I believe this is what a “normal” single man should be doing after divorce. I can no longer have kids so that aspect isn’t a lingering issue with me. I like the meditation aspect. Thank you.

Mediations don’t usually require a lawyer. Typically you bring the information you get from mediation then have your lawyer look at it. It’s why mediation is preferred if both parties can keep it together and aren’t out to destroy one another. Mediators are usually practicing or former lawyers working independently from each divorcing party. They’re there just to help, to aide one another in getting to the middle.

I have one. What state are you in? If you’d like to direct message me, I’d be happy to tell you my experience. It feels like a shit ton of bricks, especially when being served by the cops. Don’t panic. Don’t freak out. It’ll be OK.

Lawyers will only do what you pay them to do. If you have in writing that she’s to pay you and isn’t, find out how you alone can remedy this or pay another lawyer a one time fee to help.

Tell them you understand how much they are affected by the divorce and are looking to vent/blame someone, but it’s not their place to accost your Ex wife. You don’t appreciate what they’ve done to her and at the moment you feel It best to spend thanksgiving with you and your sons. Tell them your not mad or hold a grudge, but need to do this for you. And let them think of you as selfish if they need to. This process is about you and your kids.

Any suggestions in terms of parenting plan? Our child is young, anything I should be thinking ahead for in terms of college and such? I don’t make nearly as much as ex does. Can hardly afford rent at the moment.

Mediate if at all possible assuming you and your ex can be civil. Cheaper and far less hassle than going through layers and judges. Then hire a lawyer for a one time flat fee to go over the legal documents the mediator drafts up. A divorce through the courts will be 10k minimum.

Good luck sir. I take it you’re in court now at this moment. I am also going through this process (DM me if you wish). One thing that jumped out at me was you alluding to your ex ‘not pulling any bad stuff’, or some phrase similar. My firs thought was to wonder why she wouldn’t enter into mediation? So much less expensive and far easier for all - presuming the communication between you both is Ok.

Yes. I have documentation that these allegations are lies. I’m just hoping the judge takes the time to see all of this and not brush it off for the attorneys to argue between themselves before coming back in front of his bench. I’ve been doing a lot of leg work to put information in front of her.

So should I enter court lookin brow beaten, frail, disheveled and incapable of lifting more than a spoon to my mouth? Seriously. There are big dudes I work with and none of them feel they could rip a door from its hinges. Kick one in yes, shoulder one open yes, not rip one off the hinges.
/r/Divorce_Men12/06/18 10:43 AM

I’ve been accused of ripping a bedroom door off it’s hinges. I’m not talking a hollow core door, this is a 1970s era solid, mortar and tendon solid door with brass hinges. Yet no pictures, no receipts of the repairs, no name of the contractor that did the work. I guess she repaired it. Or I did with al my carpentry skills (sarcasm). Good luck with those bed bugs pal lol

I'm being told hiring a lawyer should be done ASAP, however we're hoping for mediation so I can bring paperwork to my lawyer rather than having him come into court each and every time. I hear having them look over paperwork is much cheaper and just as effective. I'm not looking to pony up 10k at the end of all of this.

What would you define as my area, how far away isn't my area or is that up to me. I have been recommended an attorney that works about 40 mins away from me. Too far?

I can't today, but am going back tomorrow. I plan on living in a different part of the house - yes it's that big. She's asking me for the key and garage door opener but I haven't replied. She doesn't need to know anything that doesn't pertain to our son.
