Good grief, who discloses they ate cold spaghetti for Valentines?! I agree with a previous comment about single Valentines being the best but at work I would be cautious about who you disclose that with. Of course be polite with a good dose of grey rocking. I would also reflect and take a good long think about would you want to end up think that?

Another awful and tragic loss of a woman who was living her life. This is being compared to the circumstances of Sarah Everard, again a woman living her life but so happened to be walking through South London late at night in comparison to Ashling Murphy who was out running mid afternoon. What does it matter?! These woman are trying to exist. Is it so much to ask to stop killing us just for existing? I am angry

I'm spending NYE with my fabulous girlfriends and the most trouble I'm having is what I should choose for the five course dinner. Obviously the cheese platter to finish on... but don't get me started on the wine pairing!

Happy New Year Queens! I'm glad you're safe! What a thing to happen! I absolutely agree, men never ask women for help or advice. I had a strange instance where I had been Christmas shopping a few weeks ago and instead of driving I had taken the train. When I returned to the train station a man behind seemed to fall. My FDS kicked in and I shuffled away because I've seen men use this as a tactic to touch me. There were woman of a similar age group around who vocally asked 'Are you ok? Do you need…

This is similar to what I experienced with an ex years ago. I called him out on his lack of dates, gifts, and general shitty behaviour. All of a sudden he started making an effort but inevitably it petered off after a few months and back to square one. Also getting over 'being mean' as well after being on the FDS path for nearly 18 months and I'm seeing so much positivity from it. First of all you're not 'being mean'. You're being assertive, setting boundaries, and protecting yourself and your p…

They're not happy. An abusive ex of mine tried to add me on a social media account after years of no contact where he had photos of his current happy relationship and family. Except I knew his Reddit username and I saw all the posts where he belittled his partner and children, extensive posts of the dead bed variety, and even an admission of a drug problem with criminal convictions. Utterly pathetic. Block him and focus on yourself and your healing. Be kind to yourself.

I would be furious too if my supposed SO went through my luggage to take out something that benefitted my appearance and I enjoyed. He even says himself he likes her because she's 'low maintenance' - seems likes he trying to take the first steps in controlling her. But what concerns me most of all, is this dude potentially capable of tampering with her birth control or medication down the line?

Why? Are they incapable of cutting up vegetables and preparing a turkey? I'm in the UK so we don't have Thanksgiving but the next big holiday will be Christmas with a similar get together with family over a big meal. This is years ago and when I did a specific mixed sport and I’m also into photography. I brought my quite nice and what I could afford mid range digital SLR camera to a competition to take some cool action shots. In between competing I would take some shots of my friends and or have them take some of me. Mid way through I had this absolute scrote from our club come up to me smiling and trying to be oh so charming who had come with his SLR camera. He then proceeded to tell me my brand and model w…

I know this feeling very well and I wouldn't rush back into dating yet. From your post I feel you still need to like and love yourself more. There's been so much great advice on the comments already about looking after yourself physically so I'd like to add in looking after yourself mentally and emotionally. This includes dating yourself - you don't have to wait around for someone else to see that new film or show with, go to the cinema or theatre by yourself. Enjoy a particular cuisine? Take yo…

I had something similar happen to me recently where my work hired in a specialist contractor in the form of an older male probably late 40's in comparison to myself mid 30's. Thankfully a short project but I instantly felt he was singling me out - constantly wanting to chat to me, laughing way too hard at my jokes and I enjoy being witty. Time to grey rock and become the most boring person alive... "Any plans tonight?" "Yes, gonna do a load of laundry tonight." Don't offer up much detail and try…

Looking for a bit of advice please. About a year ago, mere weeks before I discovered FDS, I went to a close friend's housewarming as she was moving in with her SO. I was then introduced to SO's friend circle and one dude caught my eye. We got along fairly well and I then asked him out (OH YES, I want to hurl my past self into the sun!). We messaged for a few weeks but it fizzled out and my friend later said the dude mentioned that we lived too far apart or whatever to make it work. A year later,…

I wonder if this hadn't been about rape and a 'mere' violent assault would he have felt like this? Exact same situation as you. I used to do the majority of cleaning and emotional labour till I found FDS last year and I just stopped. I clean up after myself and only myself. I don't bother offering him dinner if I've cooked too much. I don't bother with his birthday or Christmas because he doesn't get me anything. My next step would be to sell our current place and have my own property but my job and therefore financial situation isn't great at the moment. Good luck with your side hustles, you…

This resonates with me. I got bullied at school and whenever I stood up for myself I was the one in trouble. My younger sibling was being bullied by a boy so I chased him around the playground till he feigned an asthma attack and once again I was the one in trouble. This is probably a huge part of the reason I don't want to have children if this is the environment they have to go into.

There's also the time aspect of it - most guys will probably need less than 10 minutes to shower and achieve a good level of hygiene. For me and probably most women it's more like 20 minutes and I shampoo twice, condition, exfoliate, facial wash, shower gel, shave, then once I'm out I'm onto body lotion, deodorant, and facial skincare. Then it's another 45 minutes to dry and style my hair but I do it because I respect and want to look after myself. I have no interest in being a one woman bio-haz…

I’ll be honest, when the concept of Hot AF Friday came up I was conflicted. I love how FDS is a female only space and having that seemed initially a bit jarring. In hindsight I’ve dated the not so good, pretty bad, and downright ugly. I make an effort and take pride in my appearance so why shouldn’t I hold a man to the same standard? I shall post on Friday!

This instantly reminded me of that song, "A Woman's Touch" from Calamity Jane. There's a male interior design sub reddit which I find interesting to peruse. The majority of it is dudes who've made that leap from having flat mates to having their own place and looking for interior ideas from their peers. Fair dos! This happened in Dublin - https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/cctv-captures-moment-woman-falls-24029654. This is attempted murder. Ok so reading over the other replies in this post, perhaps don't block him as of yet but don't respond to his messages either in order to build up evidence if need be. Previously on The Last Kingdom (A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES)... my name is Uhtred Son of Uhtred and I have sworn to slay David son of Dave after word was received by eight of his wives that he was planning a coup on Winchester and we can't have that.

This is wild! 4 and half hours on a jet ski through the Irish sea described as particularly rough and is extremely cold even in summer. Then he walks 25km once he reaches the island to his partner's house... someone option this to Hallmark and set it at Christmas!

This a thousand times! I seriously miss my self dates due to this being covidy times. Usually I would go to the cinema, restaurants, theatre, ballet, museums, hillwalking, and I've even taken myself on solo holidays. It's so liberating just being able to do whatever you want. I've had friends balk at the idea of doing things on their own but are you seriously going to wait around your entire life to be invited or taken along by someone else???

Well Chantal, I was also able to spend about 100 hours thinking about me and making sure I was safe, secure, and comfortable. Was also able to squeeze in 10 seconds tidying up after myself too! HIGH FIVE!

I think, no, I know I'd go ballistic if some dude gave me macaroni art as a gift and also it's a waste of perfectly good pasta.

I have a work friend who's in her early 20s who's venturing into dating for the first time. At first she was giddy at any guy who would message her but I told her about FDS. She's now taking her time, exercising her boundaries, and at the first sign of a red flag she'll block and delete. She's also grown more confident and assertive in the short time I've known her and I'm really proud of her!
