Dating someone your age or slightly younger is the best in my opinion, especially in your 20s. Don't let old guys prey on you. Young guys are fit, in a better place mentally usually and (hopefully) on your level (or above, taking into consideration their privilege) financially and career wise. They are also less set in their ways. My current boyfriend is a bit younger than me and our relationship is amazing! We're both in our 20s, decently fit and groomed, with money to spend on nice dates and t…

I date a guy who makes around 20% less than me because he only works part-time as he's finishing his master. He's also a few years younger than me. I'm childfree, so my career won't be hindered and in less than half a year he'll be able to work full-time so he'll make around the same as me. Truth be told, I had a very accelerated career track so it's hard to keep up with me. He still pays for all of our dates, gets me gifts, satisfies me sexually and does most of the house work and errands, so I…

You'll get through this, but not to bring you down, it's the same in STEM jobs. Men talking over you, explaining things to you that you built and implemented, suggesting things you already did and getting praise for it, the list goes on. Keep being assertive and confident, you are doing great!! 🥰

Reading this was like looking back at my quarantine with my boyfriend. We rarely fought, but most of our arguments were just me having meltdowns over my chronic pain or fear of corona (I'm in therapy) but he empathized with me and helped me get through. Otherwise, our time spent indoors together was relaxing, we are so happy he's doing another semester online and I'm working from home indefinitely. Whenever we see memes of couples hating one another after quarantine we have a good laugh cause th…

I used to go 50/50 on every. little. thing. in my previous relationship with my "feminist" ex he would buy me a cup of coffee for 2 euros and add it to our common expenses spreadsheet! He made roughly 30% more than me and he expected me to keep up with his expenses, so I was always owing him money. When I started earning a bit more, he flipped the switch: I should foot the bill for more stuff, he was deluded. I left without any regrets, he was crying and begging me to reconsider, he even propose…

Plus he isn't the type to do that & I trust him Many women have said this before, many have been deceived. Men change from one day to another. I love and trust my boyfriend with my life, we are going to get engaged soon (he knows I want a special proposal, but my chronic illness and the current world issues going on got in the way) but he will never see any money from me. We have a common account which is in my name, and we each transfer each month an amount of money we agreed to beforehand to p…

Love to hear these stories! 💕 I have a chronic illness and some days my body just doesn't work. My bf never complains, takes on all the house chores, cancels plans, buys me medicine, gives me massages. I could never go back to the pickme I was.

My pickmeisha mom, everybody! My dad infantilized her all her life so she can't handle money, she has a crippling nicotine addiction and is an abuser herself. She is not a "real woman", she is one of the worst people I know and I get depressed everytime I see her. What a bunch of bullshit.

This is what I do. Joint account where we both do automatic payments twice a month, used for rent, utilities and groceries. I earn double than my boyfriend (he is temporarily part time until he finishes his degree) and we still split equally.

I look at this and remember how my bf sat me down last weekend to tell me that he won't be able to contribute to the household chores as much, since he had exams and a work presentation in the upcoming week. I was like, "fine, but I won't do much either". I was quite happy to catch up with some series and do some gaming and since we clean thoroughly every weekend I didn't think it would get too dirty. Next morning, I wake up to the house vacuumed and the dishes done. He kept doing small chores t…

I really tried to help my brother out, I would fight for him with my dad, just to see him apathetic to my suffering. He tormented me as a child, locking me in wardrobes and various other "pranks", while never getting reprimanded ("shut up and play with your brother"). He doesn't make any effort to meet people, is very hard to interact with and just doesn't care. When I went home a few years ago, he challenged me to arm wrestling. Needless to say, I defeated him every time, and it frustrated him …

My awakening was a long, painful process. I moved out very young and had a lot thrown at me. I had to put myself through university while working a full time software engineering job at 19, while I was learning basic life skills (I didn't even know how to turn on a stove or wash my clothes). I was also trying to be a cool girl, paying for dates and being sexually woke. My ex took full advantage of that (I posted in the past about it here, basically we moved to another country using my hard earne…

Yes, I totally understand you! When I had to take a week off work because of health issues (I also discovered they were chronic) I was inconsolable. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to work anymore, or that I would be fired.

I'm so sorry. My father used to do the last piece blaming too (he always thought it belonged to him or my brother, would throw a tantrum if me or my mom took it and whenever he did eat the last piece of something that was mine he would tell me to suck it up and stop complaining). I can identify with being called selfish all the time for just being a kid (wanting candy or just to hang out with friends instead of family). I hope things are going better now for you. Hugs.

Luckily, I have quite resilient teeth so I got out with only a few cavities. I first stepped into a dentist's office at 21, after my first paycheck, I was so ashamed. Now my dentist always compliments my teeth when I go for my routine checkups, and it's such a small thing, but I'm proud of it.

My dad was EXACTLY the same, kept saying that the dentist and tooth cleaning industry is a scam, never bought toothpaste or toothbrushes for me. My mom would get one for herself, and I went without washing my teeth for most of my childhood, until I was in my teens and had pocket money so I could buy a toothbrush. My dad lost his front teeth in his thirties and now he brushes.

I have a chronic illness that impacts my life in many ways. Sometimes I don't feel like having sex for weeks, I have to cancel plans last minute and have mood swings. My boyfriend never complains (he actually suggested that we cancel our new years eve trip which he already paid for and couldn't get his money back). He never complains, offers emotional support, massages, meals, does all the chores, whatever it takes to support my recovery. Don't settle for anything less.

Agree with the other posters and a small piece of advice: don't get too committed in high school and university! It's my one life regret, making decisions as a teenager based on my LVM boyfriend back then. This format seems like a good idea. I'm also in the process of vetting my boyfriend and maybe I'll do a post like this to analyze him as well.

I work in tech and they have solid technology behind that piece of shit, so it would be a pretty tough thing to do. Classic stuff like crashing it via a DDOS is (nearly) impossible.

My bf has some girl friends, but they're more like acquaintances. No one on one time, traveling/going out without me, video calling or a texting, they're basically just part of larger groups we both hang out with. He's respectful towards them but it ends at basically that.

Of course people in the comments are jumping to justify his actions by accusing her of triggering him. Apparently committing to a long term girlfriend is a trigger now and not good for a scrotes mental health.

Oh no, should have took a screen shot. Basically the girl was modeling some wedding dresses at work and playfully teased him about marriage by sending him a picture of her in a dress (they were both no marriage people). He went crazy, threw her stuff out and bolted the door. She feels like an asshole for doing something wrong. Basically a LVM and his pickmeisha. Of course some information might be omitted from her story, but it doesn't warrant such a reaction from the guy.

Ugh, this brings some memories. My LVM ex relocated with me to our dream country. I found a job there and they were willing to pay for all my (our) relocation expenses. So I paid for a relocation company to find us rent, furnished the apartment with my own money then talked around and got him a job at the same company I was working at. He started becoming distant, berating me for having friendships back at home (or chatting with any of my friends). He did not approve of me going to meetups or tr…

Depends where you live. My rule of thumb is food, shelter and transportation assured for 4 months at least, 2 weeks for an average airbnb in my city (emergency leaving from abusive household) and some gym (4 month subscription), lawyer, therapy and financial advisor money (at least 3 sessions each). In my region that amounts to roughly 4k euros.

And one of the comments... NTA. From the above comments it seems I'm in the minority, but reading through your story, I didn't thinking you were the asshole, honestly. I'm female, I have a boyfriend, we pay 50/50 on shared experiences (from a joint account, which we pay equally into, life is easier). If he wanted to personally pay for a shared female friend, I wouldn't stop him, or be annoyed. It's his money. His decision. His kindness. I would probably share this too, and offer to either pay my…

Wouldn't do double dates like this. Maybe after I'm in a stable relationship, two couples out can be fun. But at this stage you're mentioning it might be distracting and you won't be able to judge his character properly and ask the right questions to find out more about him.

This! I gave up on dating a few years back (living in an Eastern European country where 40% of the people think that rape is sometimes justified) until I reconnected with an old work colleague who became my bf. At best you'll find someone who just hates feminists. It's a cesspool. Also keep in mind these men are educated so they might be all over Europe. A decent guy (can sustain himself and a household) is rare, a HVM is extremely rare.

From the tech sphere: Man talks at a conference, he's a leader in his field Woman talks at a conference, probably got there because of diversity quotas This also applies to leading workshops, getting book drafts approved for publication, getting approved for research grants, having better competitive programming skills. So basically when a guy does it he's a genius, when a woman does it it's because of dIvErSiTy and politically correctness. It's tiring, luckily it pays very well and as I'm getti…

My boyfriend also watches anime casually and there are a few we watch together. I also used to avoid guys into anime but he recommended some that were actually good (interesting plot, no weird nudity or sexual scenes) so I knew he wasn't going to be weird about it. We met at a previous job I had.

What the hell? Sis, he could propose and THEN you can go ring shopping, and still pick whatever you want! If he can't handle the "pressure" of proposing then I'm pretty sure what's coming up next in life will tear him up. Imagine marrying and having babies with this LVM!

I am obsessed with lists so I made a little one on gifts, basically a wishlist of sorts (I have many allergies, don't like typical jewelry/flowers), with allergens that affect me and what products I can use (with examples), my hobbies and things I need for them (I paint a lot so new quality canvas never hurts) and various ideas of other little things to treat myself to. I use this list myself, but also intended to share it with others. My ex LVM boyfriend scoffed when I shared it with him, accus…

My own mom was picking on me for having standards and saying I'm leaving at the smallest sign of abuse in a relationship. Apparently that makes me selfish. She would rather see me suffer like her instead of having me level up. Oh well, I'd rather be selfish and alive, with a guy that respects me and that I'm very attracted to, instead of settling for some loser. We got this girl!

Don't listen to the pickemeishas. If I listened to my mom or other women telling me to lower my standards I would still be stuck with my "feminist" ex who made me do everything in and out of the house (pay bills, clean etc.) and never ever did something nice for me. "At least he's not violent!" and "He can cook!", like we're supposed to award guys for being decent humans and feeding themselves. Move on to the next date, sis!
