How do y'all manage bank accounts, paychecks, and mortgages? My husband and I make the same amount, so there's no question about how to split it. Do y'all make it one person's responsibility to pay bills, and the other's to send them money? Do y'all have a joint bank account that bills and mortgages come out of, but you maintain your own financial independence? Do you have a family savings, and a secret personal savings account? Is this a better question for a financial advisor at our bank? Neither of us come from wealth so we aren't familiar with the best way to manage bills and paychecks, and we're trying to figure out how to equitably share emotional labor and responsibility in terms of keeping track of when to pay bills and to who. He's willing to be in charge of all of that, but it's my money too and I want to be involved in where and how it's spent and ensure our financial wellbeing.
