I would use a hammer to build a house, but I wouldn't trust the hammer to do the work. Just like AI, it's a tool. It lacks the adaptability of a human's mind despite it being able to get "virtually" close. The judicial system is a giant paper mill ran by Robert's Rules of Order. There are strict processes in place that you simply have to abide by and if some are not followed there can be serious & possibly lasting consequences. That's why we have lawyers. They went to school to learn about that …

Nah, the gullibal stage is way easier than anything that comes after, lol. 😂 My dad: Come here. I walk over. Dad: Now turn around. I turn around. Dad proceeds to swat my behind with the fly swatter (not hard, just playfully 😉) I whip around, "Hey!" Dad shrugs: There was a fly. You see that fly? I must have missed him! We eventually wised up... I'm sure I took longer that my lil sis. I was pretty thick skulled as a kid, lol. 🤣

Ditto this. I understand the feelings of your role in this (the protector) and that's what makes it so difficult to be objective. It's admirable, but you need to remember: our love for others is not a blanket to shield them from the consequences of their actions. Something else I've read more than once around these parts: she has no motivation to be kind to you unless she has something to gain. I hung up on my ex from speaking to me disrespectfully. She was wanting some item as we were splitting…

Glad you've held on due to your kids man. I'm glad you've reached out even if it may seem like a desperate thing to do. You're not alone. There are many people in the same kind of situation as you feeling the same way you do now. My wife left right before Christmas 2017, no kids. She's since had a daughter, got the career she wanted going, and has remarried. Me? I'm less than one year from turning 40, no job, no car, working for pennies doing work for family members that are in their twilight ye…

So how does berating them about it help? 🤨 When someone's heart is hurting, as with any part of the body, it's tender and the slightest touch can be extremely painful. Not everybody can be logically jarred back into healthy thinking. Have a little compassion man. We have the freedom to choose whatever it is we would like to do so pushing on somebody not in the right mindset could potentially backfire and not have the outcome you intended. In this case, intensions mean nothing if you cause someon…

My heart goes out to you man. Where you're at, the beginning of the end, like you said is a miserable place. But, ya know what? You don't need to let it "ruin" your life. Couple things. First off, new rule: any interaction with her, keep your emotions in check. Do not let your emotions start taking over your decision making. If you feel yourself starting to get too worked up, you MUST do something to get back to your center and that could possibly be walking away for a little bit It's rough beca…

As I've said to many guys: a good woman should (and will!) compliment your life, not be the focus or run it. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your wife, but glad to hear she was a good woman that challenged you to be better and built you up. How long were you married? =)

Yeah, the landscape has been heavily influenced thanks to the rise of social media. And living in Southern California I'm guessing you see the most of it, lol. 1st thing: haters gonna hate so let them do their job. Just ignore them. To get a nice laugh and also a little dose of reality (with some salt) search YouTube for 'Bo Burnham Lower Your Expectations.' I'm not saying you need to lower your standards, just manage your expectations. 😉 OK, main point time! I cannot recommend this book enough.…

After my wife left I was struggling hard to find meaning in a lot of things. I can't even remember how I stumbled across it, but I found a book that REALLY helped me. I'm not selling anything either. You can get it for free on the author's website understandingrelationships.com or just search Google for the title + 'pdf'. It's called 'How To Be A 3% Man' by Corey Wayne. It's NOT a player book. The tag line is 'Winning The Heart Of The Woman Of Your Dreams' and as romantically silly as it may sou…

This is definitely not my experience. I suppose the closest thing I had to this was when she wanted to meet with me to tell me something. Being highly logical & analytical, she wanted to meet with me to tell me she was pregnant before announcing it on social media. I appreciated the sentiment, but it really confused me. How and why the hell do I still matter to you in this way? You cheated several times over the years and during the separation pulled some of the most cold hearted crap I've ever …

It does change you. It may be a small change or maybe a huge shift, but it WILL change you. As men we must guard ourselves (and others if we can) through this state of vulnerability. It's led many men to early graves or even to lead unnecessarily difficult & unfulfilling lives riddled with poor decisions. The day I finally realized just how hard my wife leaving was affecting me was when I walked into a convenience store one morning. The clerk greeted me with a smile and cherrily asked me how I w…

I'm sorry to see yet another man be going thru this. It's incredibly depressing and I've got some choice words I can't say to the people who say it doesn't matter and first work rhymes with truck. Sure, in the grand scheme, they're right: the why's don't matter. Knowing won't bring her back, but it could offer some closure... but sometimes knowing comes with the curse of knowing. My wife left, never told me why, and I struggled trying to dig up information. I really wish I hadn't. Your main focu…

I hear ya man. Divorce after believing somebody to be your best friend who also took a vow to stay with you to the end... sucks. Hard. I struggled immensely when we seperated. Got myself into a pretty dark space between the ears which really warped my thinking towards the world. Plunged me into a fairly debilitating depression for a few years. Thankfully I found an absolutely amazing therapist who helped me untwist a lot of bad thinking. I'm sure lots of people would say 'Duh!' to some of the th…

Recently heard something really great: just because you feel bad after a decision doesn't mean it was the wrong decision.

It's kinda crazy seeing my own thought process spelled out by somebody else. First off, like my dad told me when I was going on about how bad of a husband I had been when my wife told me she no longer wanted to be married: stop talking down to yourself. I'm sure there are a TON of things you've done wrong and you know what? You'll make mistakes in the future. Guaranteed. We're humans. We make mistakes. Instead of using them as a ticket to ride the pity train, think about how you can learn from y…

And, as always, I have to plug the book that helped me IMMENSELY after my wife left. Like, as first I thought I could have saved my marriage if I had known this info before, but honestly, I wouldn't have even married her in the first place had I read this book early enough. It's not a player book. It's a book on defining the kind of woman you desire, how to date & communicate with her, and how to keep a lasting relationship with her. It's about staying true to your masculine core as a man more t…

I feel for you dude. It's so difficult when such a personal relationship you thought was mutual ends up falling apart in front of you and not exactly know why. This initial time is extremely important in terms of legal matters. Just as an example: even if you despise each other, moving out of the home would be a terrible mark against you in court proceedings. The sad part is there is no incentive for her to play nice with any of this and you have to PROVE you're a stable individual. No lashing o…

I was really too infatuated for my own good. There's an old quote I remember from a book of love poetry my grandmother gave me when I was young: 'Love is not blind - it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.' - Rabbi Julius Gordon. I would call that infatuation because you see everything, but not from the right perspective. As far as red flags go there were several, but funny enough I always seem to remember most of them when I'm AFK, lol. Towards the beginning…

If there be any man willing to take personal responsibility in learning how to define the woman you want, how to date her, how to understand her, how to keep a healthy relationship with her, and/or just how to become a better man in general, I PLEAD with you all to read this book: "How To Be A 3% Man" by Corey Wayne After my wife left and did some of the most coldest sh*t imaginable (like trying to screw a random co-worker she brought home one night directly below "our" bedroom), I was spireling…

Oh my crap where do I begin? lol There were SO many signs I never realized were red flags until after she left. Now, some of these will mean different things for different women of course. Like, my ex-wife and I had sex on the first date and it was not me being the aggressor in that situation. It was exciting to have a women going that hard after me! Course, later I learned it might not have been a very good sign. One thing I learned while we were still dating was that she had 30+ partners durin…

The times have changed for sure. Much of 'dating' has all gone online now, but it doesn't mean we're doomed! I want to recommend a book for you to read that helped me out a GREAT deal after my wife left. I was always the geeky/nerdy guy growing up and still am to a degree. I could always think back to situations I just cringe at where I was completely oblivious to openings girls would create for me. After reading this book, I saw more, MANY more situations I simply missed because I just didn't k…

If there's one thing I constantly see adults forget it's that children see us in much better light than we think. They'll remember you showing up more than anything so don't ruin it by bashing your ex in front of them (or anybody for that matter no matter what she's allegedly done). And stop worrying about STDs. Yeah, they're stigmatized and they suck, but it doesn't mean you have to play into it. Just be watchful of outbreaks and you'll be fine. ^_^ P.S. I suppose it's mostly guys reading this …

I feel for you man. It's a crappy situation for everyone, but if there's one thing I learned from my own situation: you need to look towards the future. Don't forget the past; learn from it. And most importantly: don't dwell on it. You're monetarily successful so that's something you don't have to worry about and can be proud of. Dating another woman before your marriage was officially over was definitely a mistake, but it doesn't sound like you're a remorseless sociopath. Kudos for that. After …

That's just it: there are no assets. No children, no cars, no property. From the government's POV I don't even have a job, lol. As someone else told me: you should only be communicating through/with her lawyer. I'm just going to fill out the 'served thru email' form for the court and send that to her. That way she can just email me the papers for me to sign and that'll be that. The whole 'married for life' aspect is long gone.

Great advice! Already ahead of you there since she tried to use one of those websites before and thus, I'm not willing to give her any other information. The court in question has the paperwork available and even in different downloadable formats on their website. It's actually really well laid out. One of them actually is an acknowledgement of being served thru email where I, the Respondent, could legally notify the court that I accept emailed correspondence as being served. With a background i…

Well, before we got married I told her I was not getting a divorce. Even if we somehow ended up hating each other, marriage, in my mind, is for life. She decided to run away when all I wanted to do was resolve our issues. She's also got a past that she has never dealt with that requires the kid glove treatment only a licensed therapist could handle. I've sought professional help a couple times to both better myself as a man and as a husband. She wanted nothing to do with it. Not long after she m…

Yea, I just don't trust her anymore which is why I haven't given her anything other than what state I live in. It's not like she can really find me either since I technically don't have a job here and I "officially" still live back in my hometown. ;)
/r/Divorce_Men27/01/22 07:47 AM

Well, just to give some clarification: I live a couple states away. She knows the state, but not where. I technically do not have a job. From a few other legal standpoints, I "live" back in my hometown. From the beginning of this I didn't have any trust for the things she's been trying to do. Also, we have no assets, no children, nothing to fight over. There's nothing for her to get out of me. Nothing. Not even a car, lol.

"The willingness to walk away and actually mean it" speaks volumes of your wisdom and is something that I think would save a lot of marriages today. Might have saved mine, but I pursued like an idiot when she wanted to leave.
