To anybody still in the hurting phase of losing your significant other: you are a man. A man should never let emotions run his life. You don't need to sit in misery as tempting as it is. Life is unfair and you're not going to come out on top. Your measure as a man will be based on getting back up and doing what you can to keep the pain out of your head. Something my mom told me long ago: you don't have to sit in a bucket of sh*t just cuz it's warm. I didn't understand the extent of what that meant till after everything fell apart. What happened was painful. It was unfair and should not have happened. But it's now in the past and time to move on. I know this sounds harsh, but the rest of the world simply doesn't care. I eventually got an amazing therapist who got me to ask myself: why do I want someone who doesn't want me back? If that's true, why am I letting the memory of that pain sit in my head? It does me absolute no good to keep thinking about her because all it brings me is pain & misery. I had to force myself to focus my mind on other things. Yes, FORCE myself. If I had my way I'd be crying in some forgotten corner feeling sorry for myself. Does that sound fun? Is that a good look? Hell no! And I don't wanna be that guy! I wanna be the guy who shrugs it off and keeps moving forward. I wanna be the guy who got knocked down, but got back up like nothing happened. The best part is that I CAN be that guy. Nothing in the life worth having is easy. It's gonna be hard. You're going to want to quit. Don't. Don't stop. Keep your head up so you can see the opportunities up ahead. What's the alternative? Being weak. "But I AM weak." Then do something about it. Get tough. Become something better. You CAN do it, but nobody is going to do it for you. Your life will become something so much better than you expected, but not if you're drooping your head in misery. Soon life will have passed you by and you'll be there wondering why you didn't do something about it. Don't let something as petty as a significant other leaving take you down. Somewhere out there is somebody who will not leave when things get tough. She's looking for somebody like you so make yourself look like somebody worth having and not some baby crying about somebody else. That's not what a man looks like and it certainly isn't attractive. I've spent WAY too much time feeling sorry for myself and know what it's done for me? Kept me in the same place instead of looking for the next best thing. Take control of your life and make it the absolute best life that YOU want. That little voice inside saying things like 'You can't.' or 'That will never work' is bullsh*t. Tell him 'Well I'll just find out myself if it won't work out.' Prove him wrong. Tell him to f--- off. The rest of your life starts today and you ALWAYS have a choice of what you will do. You got this man!
