I'm calling the people who post to r/whiterights racists, as well as my experiences in r/mensrights in the past. A lot of what these people are calling "Men's Rights" is "White Christian Male Privilege Pity Party". People are constantly trying to tear down male spaces. What "male spaces" are "people" trying to "tear down"? Honestly, as a geek, I hardly encounter women in my social circles. If the needs and causes of disparity were equal and the same, then the solutions would be the same. We can have a debate about high school and college education disparities between men and women because right now, there is a disparity. In that specific quote, I'm talking about other posts to r/mensrights in the many years I've been on reddit, and other posters. Being misquoted in this article (the topic alone) is minor. I should also add, the other thing that turned me off to r/mensrights was that there is if you look at the popular posters (including the one who posted my blog entry in this very topic) you see there's a lot of racism. As for this, one posted unrelated article by some random guy does not make this subreddit an offshoot of the Tea Party movement A few months, I was seeing a lot more racism on the subreddit, to the point where I almost left. It was sickening, and those who were the loudest were the ones proclaiming that being born white and male really did give them some sort of birthright. Seeing another such post just set me off. That's not what the article was comparing, but let's compare it. Prostate cancer /is/ a common cancer in men, but even then, its treatment has grown over the years. There are complications with the various treatments (drugs, surgery), and sometimes the treatment is to do nothing. BTW, I'm not saying we shouldn't take these male health issues seriously, but if we're going to talk about a disrepeancy, let's compare diseases with similar rates.

This would be a fair comparison to make if either the number of incidents or survival rates were comparable, but after being pissed off after reading this article I checked, and they're not. Testicular cancer has about 95-100% survival rate overall, and effects .04% of the male population. Breast cancer is far more common, and far more deadly, with >500,000 deaths a year worldwide. Always show how Men's Rights helps women, when you can I'm personally not interested in operating this way, generally. It depnds on your goals, I suppose. The only caviot I'd place there is that while I agree that machoism is dangerous, so too is the traditional feminist idea of androgyny, that is the desire for gender sameness (or worse, that boys should take on the behavior patterns of girls).
