Good reasoning. I'll experiment with it!

You say don't call it a date. Why? I like to make it known that I have romantic/sexual intentions. It frames our interactions when we meet. At least that's my thought. What is your reasoning?

Thanks for the thorough response. I appreciate you input a lot. Its a learning process, but I think with enough practice, I'll start to get the hang of it. I do feel like a dick though because that texting was sooo not me (friendzone guy over here). haha.

thanks for the advice! I think I was just over doing it. I've been friendzoned my whole life for being too nice and agreeable. Maybe I just overdid it.

its a cafeteria type place at my uni. Its really nice food and everything, but if we didnt want the exact same type of meal, wed have to go to different places to buy it. I thought this might be awkward, so i tried to avoid it. I just picked the wrong place to go (thats why i tried to change). The flower thing was a last effort. I figured if she was an animal person, she might reconsider. I was wrong. Thanks for your advice.

Try getting multiple girls numbers (I try to get at least one number a day). This will essentially diversify your investments, so if you dont see an immediate response with one, it wont faze you because youre busy gaming/texting with other girls.

Me: "oh, you like gum? I like gum too. We should have sex." Her: "finally a guy who likes gum! How do you like to fuck?"

Well, the only people that ride the bus go to my uni, so people are generally pretty chill and normal. I keep a little bio of all the girls i meet in the notes app on my phone. Just a way to keep track of what transpired (place we met, name, HBx, personal details). Yeah, I'm certain I could have gotten it today even; I just wasnt quick enough on my feet.

sarcasm? I'm going on vacation to Kenya for 2 weeks and China for 5 weeks this summer. I couldnt work this in the conversation without it seeming like boasting, so I didnt. Ill save it for another time and just casually mention it when appropriate. I think this'll make her think "what else do I not know about this guy" because it would seem like I would have mentioned it in the notes when we were talking about traveling. I think itll make me seem mysterious and interesting (I am!).

I like the book. Classy and a better escape than browsing reddit on my phone :P

agreed. I saw the girl who inspired this post again on the bus today. We made some flirty eye contact, but i didnt talk to her until we got off (same stop). She was a few steps ahead of my, so I caught up, touched her shoulder and said "hey, I've wanted to talk to you every time I see you on the bus, but never had the chance. I couldnt resist saying something to you today because you look so cute". Her response was a big grin and a "hey, I'm Catherine". We walked and talked for a few sentences, …

okay, yeah, I can see that now. You're both listening to your ipod, you lean over, attempt eye contact and ask what shes listening too. Then I might neg a little if its something like beiber and challenge that I bet my playlist is better than hers. Then chat until she/you need to get off and tell her to give you her phone number so you can show her some quality music that she'll like.

Yeah, well, its certainly included in the tuition costs...

This seems more competitive than playful if we haven't spoken yet. I feel like she would think "why do I care? Who is this guy?". Im a novice, so I may be wrong. Have you done this before? What kind of reaction do you get?

Thanks bro. I felt pretty good about the whole interaction. Its more of a general purpose study area than a library. I'm at Virginia Tech.

I've struggled with this too. I think you just have to give up on approaching via eye contact if you keep throwing her glances and shes not looking back. But if she does look back just make sure you throw her a genuine smile (kind of a little laugh almost).

Thanks for your input. I actually saw the girl again (the one who inspired this post)> We made flirty smily eye contact and talked a little when we got off the bus. She was definitely showing IOIs. I should have gotten her number. I will next time I see her by saying something like" You're not going to make me wait until we happen to run into each other to see you again, are you? I dont think I could take that again. You should give me your number so we can see each other whenever we want."

You're right. Its easier said than done, but correct none the less.

Yeah dude, go for it. There was almost no pressure because I didn't really have to think on my feet; I could be very slow and calculated. I'm definitely going to continue to experiment with this (I go to this place frequently).

That last point is pretty good. Its true unless I'm not being smooth. But even then, I guess, who cares, right? If I saw a guy trying to pick a girl up on the bus, I would probably just chuckle to myself and root for him.

Not bad. I could probably figure out something to talk about from there regarding the bus or something (its often late or full). I wonder if there is any way if she sits next to you. Any ideas?

I wasnt sure about that; i didnt want to "explain" myself. However, i found it to be too weird that we were passing notes. I guess i just wanted to be light hearted. Good call on using it as an inside joke!

Thank you for the encouraging words! I figured that i cant go wrong because i immediately asked if she was single. This gave her the opportunity to object if she didnt want to converse, in which case i would make an absurd goofy drawing and say "i made you this drawing to thank you for your time." I didnt even think about the importance of the order of seating. However, im not sure it would matter in this instance because seats are assigned assigned upon entry; see edit in posting for photo of l…
