Thanks man. I didn't post looking for sympathy, more to just share my experience in case it's helpful to someone else. Like I said at the top of the post I think I handled everything well and grew as a person for having this experience.

I've had a good amount of success with "Would you like to grab a drink sometime, see if we hit it off?" after the first few messages. Some girls never answer and that's fine. If they do I ask them their schedule and then pick a day that works for me. Once they agree to that day I ask for their number. I then tell them I'll text them that day.
