1	On the sixth day, he learned how to read I endorse this list, particularly DFW, if you want to learn about a bunch of other stuff while enjoying unique writing. I'd start with A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again. If you're in monk mode, you can take on Infinite Jest. Surprised you left Murakami off Japan. He's not for everyone. Tolstoy is absolutely where you need to start for Russia. When reading any translation of Russian Lit, you have to get the Pevear & Volokhonsky translations when possible. 42	On the sixth day, he learned how to read I don't agree with the anti-fiction slant I've seen on many RP threads. I read 30-35 books per year, equally distributed between fiction and nonfiction. There's a lot of fluff out there, true, but if you find the right fiction books (novels and short stories), you will gain social insight by critically examining why characters make the choices they do.
