Prefer meeting men spontaneously and organicallyIt is all artificial. I'm actually so amazed at people who found SOs online. Like how did they do it? Or maybe I'm really the type who wants to know a person first before I ever even consider dating them. With OLD you're kinda getting to know each other and working towards getting a date, and it feels like you're walking around eggshells with them | /r/askFDS | 01/02/22 11:46 PM
Prefer meeting men spontaneously and organicallyI'm on the same boat. At the same time, I am very skeptical about meeting people I meet online, romantically at least. It racks my nerves, you never know what they might do to you. Guess I'll have to meet men the old fashioned way | /r/askFDS | 01/02/22 11:42 PM
Prefer meeting men spontaneously and organicallyI read that one! I too find it hard to really disclose personal information on OLD. The most I can talk about with matches are my work, my favorite music and shows. That's it. I struggle to keep up after that as I don't want to give too much of myself away, but at the same time I know I need to make an effort. In the end i quit dating apps for like the fifth time | /r/askFDS | 01/02/22 07:01 AM
Have you longed-for a relationship and managed to snap out of it?I'm in the same boat. I'm 25, never been in a relationship, never really had anyone like me back. I used to get bummed about it, but then again it's not like there was anyone I felt was worthwhile. I've made my peace with focusing on myself, but sometimes I get FOMO and wonder what it would be like to have someone care for you. I just let myself feel those things for a while, and then I eventually snap out of it because I know that wishing for one and being in one (especially if its with an LVM)… | /r/askFDS | 15/10/21 12:28 PM
How should an HVM approach you first? What are green flags when HVM is trying to pursue you? Thanks. Somehow this validates how I feel. I hate random strangers chatting me up without stating why. | /r/askFDS | 09/10/21 08:32 AM
Is it normal to never be comfortable in dating apps?Every time I think about installing it again, I just think about having to sift through lots of profiles and I just immediately stop thinking about it. It's really not for me. | /r/askFDS | 01/09/21 01:53 PM
Is it normal to never be comfortable in dating apps?Somebody once said that if something is free, then YOU are the product. And that feels so true for social media apps, more especially for dating apps where we curate our sales pitch ourselves. | /r/askFDS | 20/08/21 07:29 AM
Is it normal to feel like guys on OLD do not fit your niche? Is this me? I'm very inexperienced with dating so I tried OLD just because a lot of my friends were encouraging me to do it. But it's just not for me. I used to think it's because I'm scared, or don't wanna get out of my comfort zone, but something about trying to build a rapport with a complete stranger just doesn't sit right with me. I hate that our personalities have been reduced to a few sentences and a few photos, like how are we supposed to find compatibility based on that? Some people see… | /r/askFDS | 04/07/21 02:00 AM
How do I convince my bestfriend to leave her NVM boyfriend? One thing I've learned is that you really can't make anyone leave their partner if they don't want to. They have to reach that point where they know they deserve better and must choose to leave. It's frustrating but the best thing you can do is just support her through the process. Make her read FDS principles, tell her stories of HVMs and non-toxic relationships--hopefully ones that will make her question her own relationship. If she asks for advice or confides in you, tell her your honest opin… | /r/askFDS | 27/06/21 11:31 AM
Is it normal to dislike OLD?Finally someone who feels the same way. I haven't had much experience in dating so I try to practice vetting guys on OLD but after the first few choices in Bumble it's all just the bottom of the barrel from there. The pool of guys I feel like I can be attracted to lasts for half a day and then it's just nothing from there. A lot of my friends persuade me to go on OLD but like you, I feel more comfortable meeting guys face to face the more organic way. You can tell by the first few minutes of mee… | /r/askFDS | 17/06/21 01:49 AM
If a guy exclusively only hangs out with women and almost never hangs out with guys regularly, that is a big red flag. Some men have the ability to make you feel like your problems are insignificant, gaslighting you to believe his problems are way worse and that you shouldn't even be complaining. His energy was like that. | /r/askFDS | 05/06/21 12:49 AM
If a guy exclusively only hangs out with women and almost never hangs out with guys regularly, that is a big red flag.Exactly. It's always the self-proclaimed Nice Guys. He took it personally when we set boundaries and became so self-loathung and self-pitying it was definitely a manipulation to make us feel guilty. He definitely showed his true colors, so good riddance to him. | /r/askFDS | 05/06/21 12:46 AM
How do I stop feeling ashamed and blaming myself?(the pandemic had us all traumatized and bored - a very bad combo), Before the pandemic I had stopped talking to him and planned to really gradually cut him off, but yeah being isolated and stuck at home during a very traumatic and uncertain time--I kept in touch with that group of friends that included him. but I must have done something to let him think it was okay to take advantage of and manipulate me. This is exactly where my guilt lies. Because I definitely know better, I just did not have… | /r/askFDS | 06/05/21 03:21 PM
How do I stop feeling ashamed and blaming myself?I'm in my mid-twenties, a late bloomer as I am just now discovering myself and as you said, growing into my womanhood. I grew up very shy and non-confrontational so it's taken me a while to open up to the possibility of dating, and then a lot longer to be exposed to LVM. Thanks for the advice. I've been saying the same things to myself but finding it hard to convince myself of it sometimes. I feel like because I have very little experience with men, my naivety makes me more vulnerable to LVM. | /r/askFDS | 06/05/21 12:46 PM
How do I stop feeling ashamed and blaming myself?Exactly! I've always had really good intuition but always ignore it for the sake of giving the benefit of the doubt. Now I realize I give way too many chances and should have axed that friendship at the first red flag. | /r/askFDS | 06/05/21 04:18 AM
How to survive living in a house with LVM (brothers)Yes, as others have said, prioritize yourself. Treat them like roommates you don't really get along with and focus on developing hobbies and doing activities you enjoy. I know that as older sisters we've been conditioned by society and family to be responsible and be like a third parent to them. And it sucks, I can't tell you how much resentment I have for this pressure and responsibility that was put on me just because of my gender and birth order. My siblings definitely never asked for me to p… | /r/askFDS | 21/04/21 03:52 AM
How to survive living in a house with LVM (brothers)What I can tell you is that our relationship improved 100x more when I went away to university. When we were all in high school/grade school we used to fight a lot and absolutely hated each other to the core. It's also a fact that women tend to mature and grow up faster, so it's just frustrating to see them act so much more immature even though I was only one and four years older. But yeah hopefully once you get past the teenage years and raging hormones it gets better. I feel you though, I do w… | /r/askFDS | 21/04/21 12:34 AM
How to survive living in a house with LVM (brothers)I've had a similar tumultuous and chaotic relationship with my two younger brothers, but this was more of a problem when we were all teenagers/kids. Thankfully they grew up and are now a lot better (but still have LVM traits like not helping with housework and being lazy asses sometimes). I still live with my family and we're all in our twenties now (very common in our culture and just more economic especially now). I isolate in my room and don't engage with them most of the day and we've been g… | /r/askFDS | 20/04/21 11:29 PM
Why do men insist on NOT fixing the problem?I had a male friend who was making (unwanted) advances at me. I told him I was getting uncomfortable and it was getting hard for me to stay friends. He apologized about it, and it seemed like he genuinely didn't know. I thought he would stop and we could just forget the whole thing, but instead he said "Sorry in advance if I'm gonna make you uncomfortable. You can't blame me if I keep trying". I was so pissed off I told him I can't be friends if he's gonna be like that, and we haven't spoken eve… | /r/askFDS | 15/03/21 02:36 PM
25 and new to datingAaaaah you sound just like me. I know when it's a lost cause almost right away but sometimes I doubt myself and think I'm just overreacting. Thank you. I feel validated for feeling this way | /r/askFDS | 13/03/21 01:09 AM
