Yeah. People are getting wrapped around the axle because of the racist undertones. But the reality is that this relates to two fundamental principles: novelty and respect for a different culture. Showing up in a space where people who like you don’t normally show up means you stand out. And the fact that are even making the effort the speak the language is meaningful for some ppl. I’m black and speak a Nordic language. I LOVE traveling in Scandinavia.
