That is amazing advice. I think I'll do that. Thank you!

Or C), I don't want to give out too much personal information on the internet and am deliberately trying to be vague.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 07:37 PM

That's interesting that you would say that, since TRP even has a logo for attack posts on blue pill relationships and behaviours.

Apparently not this guy

It's fair if someone has legitimate criticism with evidence to back up their claims. Baseless insults are not welcome.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 05:40 PM
2

You can reply without peer reviewed studies. But if you want to make a grand claim (such as what most women/men find attractive) do not do so without some solid evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 05:22 PM

It's not the next best thing. The next best thing would be to not post.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 04:43 PM

Okay I criticized them. I don't think those sources have any place in a debate. Don't link to some garbage that includes links to peer-reviewed sources - just link to the peer reviewed sources. We have enough garbage on this sub.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 04:16 PM
1

They're good enough Actually no, no they're not. I don't think you realize how huge the claims you're making are. Present good evidence, don't say "eh I know it's not the greatest but I don't really care." That's sloppy.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 03:47 PM
1

"but is the information completely invalid as a result of this?" Maybe, maybe not. I certainly wouldn't use it as evidence of anything, and I would be very critical of anyone who did. Especially because I suspect the bias of AskMen readers will have a major effect on the results of this survey subject. Okay I see, thanks for the explanation. I don't agree that this is necessarily a good source for that claim, but I see what alphabet is trying to do now.

Thanks. Perhaps next time he should link to the actual journals rather than making you/other commenters do the work for him! "AskMen’s 2010 Great Male Survey" is not science. It is a biased sample of men answering poll questions on a magazine website. I would not trust this poll just as I wouldn't trust the female counterpart of this poll on the Cosmo website. I need some clarification on this one. I'm not too sure what claim this source is supposed to be supporting. It's comparing women's prefe…

Why would you care what your wife's partner count is?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 02:43 PM

You're killing me with your sources here, they're absolutely terrible. AskMen has a very obvious bias. It is extremely unlikely that their sample is a random sample of men. Psychology Today is not a reputable source!!! Do not use Psychology Today!!! We had a whole post about this dude! You're a mod, you should know this!

I think you're confused about how science/debating/forming arguments works. The default position to hold is called the null hypothesis, which means that with no evidence provided you should believe that there is no relationship between two phenomena. So since there is no evidence provided, the correct positions to hold would be: Hypergamy and attraction to status/power/money is not gender-specific. The relationship between promiscuity and the type of partner you will make is not gender-specific.…

So "women are the gatekeepers of sex" means "women have vaginas"? Wow so insightful, TRP really does hold the truth.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/13 02:04 PM
2

No but you should pester him and say that he's not fulfilling his obligation to you by denying you sex. And then if that doesn't work you should beg him until he caves. (my attempt at a RP answer)

call him when you get somewhere Yes, and I've asked that of my boyfriend as well. Does that mean we're both treating each other like children? required that you are home by a certain time No, and I would immediately leave a relationship if I was given a curfew. What a huge turn off.

Men are equally good at after-the-fact rationalizations. There is no gender difference here.

Is that a joke?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 08:50 PM

So do you think women lie more than men on anonymous surveys about attempting to attract a partner who was in a relationship?

The age of consent is 16 in Russia, so it would be perfectly legal for a 29 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old girl. Do you think TRP should encourage 29 year old men to seek out casual sex with multiple 16-19 year old partners? Does that agree with your morality?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 07:39 PM
1

The age of consent in Russia is 16. Do you think TRP should encourage 29 year olds to have sex with 16 year olds if it's legal?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 07:37 PM

I don't think it is attacking people. I'm saying something negative about TRP and immediately justifying it by presenting obvious evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 07:35 PM
2

You're completely right and I agree with you on this one. I was just pointing out the error in your statement above.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 06:21 PM

So TRP is just letting their emotions control them rather than using logic and reason? Interesting.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 06:14 PM

Men with a high sexual partner count that want a woman with a low sexual partner count are not hypocrites. Men who are actively trying to have sex with as many women as possible and who call women doing the same thing "disgusting" are hypocrites.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 06:12 PM
1

Why? You have promiscuous v.s. monogamous/non-promiscuous and in a relationship v.s. single. Which pairs would you most likely associate with one another?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 06:00 PM
4

This is not preselection however. Preselection would be a hot girl giving attention to a guy at a bar, so other girls may think he's cooler or whatever. How would preselection work with promiscuity? Is the guy supposed to have sex with a lot of girls indiscreetly? I can't see how that would possibly be attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 05:56 PM
1

a man that's successful at having casual sex frequently probably does seem exceptionally attractive. I strongly disagree. TRP is basically saying that most men would sleep with almost any woman if given the chance. This means that a man that wants to have a lot of casual sex just needs to be very persistent and devote a lot of time into asking a lot of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 05:35 PM
2

But that analogy works regardless of gender. So in that case your conclusion is that both men and women shouldn't sleep around or have a large number of relationships if they want a serious relationship later in life.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 04:37 PM
12

No actually, most don't say that. Many agree with the fact that female promiscuity is disgusting.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/13 04:34 PM
1

I can't really say if I think all of that is true or not. I mean, in my experience these things has definitely not been true. But that doesn't say much about society in general. I am a woman and I have approached almost every single guy I have ever dated. So there's that. I've seen guys compete over a girl and girls compete over a guy. I've never considered that gender specific.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 11:27 PM

For 1), TRP is primarily a sexual strategy sub (i.e. seduction). Have you read any of TRP's weekly compilations of their sexual exploits? I doubt many of the members view sex as a "deep emotional experience".
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 10:26 PM
0

For 2), isn't the point of TRP to take advantage of the system? Wouldn't TRP members interested in seduction do the exact same thing if they could?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 10:24 PM
4

For the record, I kind of agree with this point. If I started seeing someone and found out that they had recently been sleeping with 3 different people a week, I would reconsider what kind of relationship we had.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 10:17 PM
3

Yeah seriously though, fuck string theory.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 10:14 PM
13

You know you can't just say these things hoping we'll take you at your word. If you don't back up your claims with evidence we're free to ignore them.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 10:10 PM
5

I agree with you on most of this. Casual sex is really not for me. However, I think it's perfectly fine if someone wants to have casual sex, or if someone is a virgin, or anything in between. I don't think the amount of sex someone has should be either celebrated or villifed - it should be a neutral thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 07:30 PM
3

It was a joke son, jeez. Loosen up why don't you. We're allowed to say that we don't like the convoluted way someone is going about conversing with us.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 07:24 PM

This has nothing to do with my comment above. Do you agree that it is a huge leap to pick a handful out of thousands of human preferences and desires and say "these specific preferences and desires are instinctual" without evidence?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 07:23 PM
2

you have to have an understanding of psychology and evolution to improve yourself This is clearly false. Lots of people improve themselves without the knowledge of evolution.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 07:09 PM

The theory of quantum physics is the theory of the behaviour of very small things (as opposed to classical physics which explains the behaviour of the macroscopic world). Quantum physics has a very precise definition because it's a scientific theory. TRP seems to have no concrete definition, which is why people give conflicting definitions of TRP.

It's not a huge leap to say that some other preferences and desires are instinctual It's not a huge leap to say "some other preferences and desires are probably instinctual". It is a huge leap to say "these specific preferences and desires are instinctual" without evidence.

See this again is confusing. Breaking down this giant section of text, the points are: Research into certain certain topics is actively suppressed by "the university and science research complex". Why should I believe this? I am a researcher and 90% of my friends are reseracher, and this has not been my experience. I would need evidence to believe this claim and you have given me none. That's true! Personally, I think far too many people have far too many kids for the wrong reasons. Financial abortion would probably help with this problem. One other potential problem is that for the very irresponsible percentage of society, there is no longer any downside for a man to not use protection. I can see a deadbeat guy thinking "Whatever, I can just get a financial abortion and walk away, no need for condoms." Maybe the man would have to prove that he was actively trying not to have …

Stop playing armchair psychologist. This has no place in the debate. It's like if a TRP made a post saying "Do you think all non-TRP members are retarded? How could they not be retarded if they don't understand TRP?" There is no way to debate that and it's a useless statement to try and make. Get a grip dude.

I already reported it.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 05:04 PM

I agree with everything you're saying. The problem I foresee is that this will have a negative impact on the child, since the child support is supposed to go towards their care. So we will see more children who aren't well taken care of. I'll not sure how to fix that though.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/13 04:58 PM

I don't think this is a good post. You are essentially claiming that everyone on TRP is mentally ill. That is not only extremely unlikely, but we have no way to verify this. I think the mods should delete this post.

I'm confused by your second paragraph, and not just because of your poor writing (but that is a factor). You link me to dozens of articles about IQ and race (which isn't what this sub is about so it is completely of topic) but don't actually present me with a claim that these articles are supposed to back up. You also link me to an entire journal of Evolutionary Psychology, but again, don't give me any claims or even any individual articles. The burden of proof is on you if you have a claim that…

What do you mean that the sales techniques "work"? How do you know they work? Did someone compare them to other sales techniques and show that they achieve better results? Or do they work as in you sell more than zero products when you use them?

Okay well I don't see any value in unsourced opinions and observations with no reasoning to back them up. This isn't a support group - we're not going around in a circle talking about how we feel about things. We're here to take views from TRP and show whether there is evidence for them or not. Yes I did see your response to my post and thanks. However that wasn't a debate question but more an attempt to relate to people whose views of the world are so far from mine that it's hard to believe we …

Misogyny doesn't mean "the act saying negative things about women" An example of a manifestation of misogyny is exactly that, as stated on the Wikipedia page for misogyny.

"Financial abortion" doesn't actually give the father that much more choice - he is still going to have a child and the only choice he has is whether to help support the child or not. I think the a better way to equalize the playing field would be to give men greater control over reproduction through male birth control. There are many many types of male birth control methods currently under study which would allow men to choose whether or not a pregnancy could occur.

why is there an epidemic of divorces and broken families in our society? Give me an alternative answer that makes any sense whatsoever. It honestly sounds like you're extrapolating from movies and TV shows about high school. My high school experience was completely unlike that, not to mention my university experience. Unless you have any proof of these extreme claims, I am going to have to stick with the null hypothesis, and so should anyone who bases their knowledge of the word on logic rather than feelings.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/11/13 06:30 PM

People largely want to date people who are similar to them, either in background or hobbies or sense of humour or religion or morals. So it follows that different women want different things out of a partner (same with men obviously). I'm not sure why that's so shocking to you.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/11/13 06:15 PM
3

you've got as little idea as we do, so who are you to tell us we're wrong? Now this is very interesting. That is literally word for word the exact argument religious people use towards atheists. "If you don't know how the universe began, who are you to tell me it wasn't a god?" It's obvious that just because I don't have the answer doesn't mean you do, and it also doesn't mean I can't criticize your ideas.

Yes trends and generalizations exist. However, TRP doesn't know them. They have no mechanism besides severely biased anecdotes to compile data. TRP is adding nothing to the knowledge base of human attraction - they are a group of guys using a single rigourless method.

While in a relationship, you are trying to make one another happy. You are trying to optimize happiness for both of you. My boyfriend will sometimes play board games with me even though he doesn't really want to, because he knows that his "not wanting to" is smaller than my "wanting to". I'll sometimes nap with my boyfriend even though I'm not tired and don't really feel like, just because he really really wants to cuddle. We love each other, and we want to make each other's lives better.

This analogy really isn't very clear. In relationships you are both trying to make each other happy. You do not have a finite amount of relationship resources to give out/keep for yourself. You are not trying to see how much you can get away with. I don't understand how you can relate the above to romantic relationships.

Just because it's hard or easy to do something doesn't make it good or bad. It would be hard for me to eat ten live babies, and it would be easy for say a dinosaur to do that. Does that mean it's good when I do it and bad when the dinosaur does? No, no it doesn't.

Okay I went through the thread again. I found three links to scientific studies in this thread. Two of them link to the same study: "Adolescent Sexuality and the Risk of Marital Dissolution" which uses survey data from 2002 and thus may not be relevant (but we'll keep it in for now as so far it seems only I have a problem with that). This study only looked at women. It also didn't not look at promiscuity, but only looked at the effects of "the timing and context of adolescent sexual debut" to ma…

Abstract: In this study, the association was explored between the number of sexual partners individuals had in their lifetimes and martial outcomes. The research objective was to test whether the number of sexual partners was associated with sexual quality, communication, relationship satisfaction, and relationship stability, while controlling for relationship length, education, race, income, age, and religiosity, using the two competing theories of sexual compatibility and sexual restraint. It's not false. The raw data from CDC is trustworthy, but I would not use or accept the Heritage foundation as a source. The Heritage foundation has a clear agenda, and they have misrepresented data in the past.

One of the many differences between fishing and dating is that the "fish" in this scenario actually want to be caught. Straight women want to have sex and date straight men. Not to say that the input of women isn't considered But SoftHarem is saying that he wants zero input from women. So this directly contradicts your statement.

They say "nuh uh I don't buy that" You shouldn't accept something as evidence for a claim just because it's presented as such. In this case, the pdf presented was not good evidence, as argued above. This is how debate works. not a single one of your responses even makes an attempt at finding a source That's not how a debate works. If your wife starts treating you like shit, you should not stay married to her just because you want to keep your promise. You should attempt to resolve the problem but if it continues then you should definitely split up. That's how relationships work. /r/PurplePillDebate11/11/13 06:44 PM

Absence of evidence is absence of evidence. It would be stupid to believe an extraordinary claim when no evidence is presented (except for vague anecdotes provided by an internet poster). So, is it a coincidence that marriage rates have dipped to an all time low? Very possibly. Why would you think that there is a correlation? The human population is far less religious now, so that could be a cause. There is less stigma to being unmarried, so people no longer feel as pressured to marry. There is less stigma to being a single parent as well. Many many things are changing in society, and any number of these changes could affect marriage. I'm not sure why you would think that women o…

What I hate about all women is their nature;hypergamy. Depending on the definition of hypergamous we use, either both women and men are hypergamous, or neither are generally. So your statement is incorrect and baseless. If you're worried about someone dating you for money, you should try dating someone who has a good career and can take care of themselves, because then they won't need to rely on you.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/13 04:00 PM

Don't use the word fag. It's extremely derogatory. Yes that's certainly a possibility. Who would want to hire someone that they looked down upon to such an extent? I make a point of not looking down on people who haven't done anything wrong and are just living their lives the way they choose. I think others should do the same.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/13 02:54 PM

No, discrimination is discrimination. People who think much less of you tend to not treat you as equal to others, and this is wrong. If someone were disgusted by and disliked black people, they would most likely discriminate against them.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/13 02:37 PM
2

TRP is literally encouraging men to force themselves into the role of a hypermasculine alpha male. TRP says that there is no other way women will like men. Well guess what, different women like different things. The majority of my female friends prefer "feminine" guys to ultra-masculine. I for one am not at all attracted to very masculine guys, and vastly prefer feminine guys. There is absolutely no reason to suspect that women are more attracted to hypermasculine guys.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/13 02:34 PM
6

Discrimination by others who say you're not a real man, or you're a stupid fucking beta. Also I'm a "hot" woman who prefers feminine men and is not attracted to masculine men. So it's really not as simple as you think. But obviously no one has a right to sex with anyone else, that's gross.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/13 02:29 PM

Yes. That is literally the point of this post. Being freed from gender roles = being able to be a "manly" man, a "feminine" man, an "androgynous" man, or anything else without discrimination.

No I said: It's immoral to target people who are easy to manipulate in order to use tactics such as pushing through LMR to convince them to have sex with you when they otherwise wouldn't, and doing this can result in rape.

Some TRP members blatantly encourage rape (example). The TRP "theory" as a whole encourages using techniques such as pushing through LMR that could lead to rape very easily. TRP theory generally encourages manipulating women in order to have sex with them, and not believing what women say (because women don't know what they want, according to TRP), both of which could easily lead to rape.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 06:36 PM

So how are we supposed to know what people mean when they use the word "alpha"? This sounds like a fairly useless term if it has so many contradictory definitions.

I'm not sure about here, but TBP is about 50/50 men and women.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 05:57 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 03:45 PM

What are you talking about? I can't follow your logic at all. I don't think I know enough about the circumstances to say whether it was rape or not. The fact that she was too drunk to consent and yet still sober enough to jump on him, handcuff him, take off all his clothes and do all the work during sex doesn't really add up.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 03:33 PM
1

I didn't specify gender in my previous post so I'm not sure why you think it's gender specific now. No one should pressure anyone into sex, regardless of gender. And your first sentence really doesn't relate to what I wrote, sorry.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 03:20 PM
5

Um no not at all. Drunk people, people much younger than you, and people with very low self-esteem are three examples of groups of people that are easy to manipulate. It's immoral to target people who are easy to manipulate in order to use tactics such as pushing through LMR to convince them to have sex with you when they otherwise wouldn't, and doing this can result in rape.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 03:09 PM

What are you talking about? We said that TRP encourages rape because they tell people to push through LMR, and also they encourage people to target women who are easier to manipulate.

If a man or a woman is so drunk that they can't consent to sex, then you shouldn't have sex with them.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:52 PM

Does every woman have beta orbiters? Do some women have legitimate male friends? How can you tell the difference between genuine male friends and orbiters?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:45 PM

I think most of them are trying to say that as soon as someone is too drunk, they could technically say yes to sex but it's still not a good idea to have sex with them.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:41 PM
1

Having sex with a drunk person is not always rape, but it could lead to you accidentally violating their boundaries. I would be extremely cautious when having sex with a drunk stranger, because you don't want either of you to feel violated the next morning. What if you have sex with someone who's blackout drunk and doesn't remember it the next day, and they wake up in your bed and are terrified? That would be a horrible experience for everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:39 PM
3

Taking action versus not taking action has absolutely nothing to do with this issue. As stated many many many times in the previous threads, it comes down to the fact that you cannot consent when you are too drunk. You can't buy a house. You can't sign a loan. You can commit crimes however. That's the difference.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:33 PM
12

drunk women cannot consent to sex This is not true, as stated many many times in the previous threads. There is a point at which a person is too drunk to consent to sex. We vaguely concluded that the "no consent point" is when the person is stumbling and/or slurring their words. Obviously if they are incapable of walking or talking, that is far past the no consent point.

Stop for a minute and think about how arrogant your position here is Archipelagi. You are not from TRP but I am. You are swearing up and down that I believe something. I'm explaining to you that what you're saying isn't what I believe. But you persist. You claim to know better than me what my own position is. You're being extremely rude but I'd still like to point something out. This isn't how having a position works. Anyone can go into TRP and look for evidence of claims saying "TRP thinks this…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:18 PM

Wow yeah you should really try to avoid saying that any group where the members are born into it is stupid. "Gay people are stupid", "asians are stupid". Ball call. However, to be fair to you, most of the so-called "locker room talk" of TRP is more like "Women have never contributed to society in any meaningful way. They're only good for their vaginas. Women are walking fleshlights to me." So there is a pretty big difference in level of offense.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/13 02:13 PM

You seem to be confusing watching humourous movies and stand-up comedy with having personal relationships with grossly sexist people. Society doesn't say men or women are stupid or useless. Some people think men who believe certain TRP concepts are stupid. I think it makes sense (to an extent) to judge s…

Spoiler: it's not applied consistently. Please don't bother finding an example of someone using the term, "shit test" in a situation where the girl isn't communicating verbally. The fact that some people use a term incorrectly doesn't invalidate the term. So basically there is no way to disprove it.

Do you have proof of any of the very strong claims you're making? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. To my knowledge, there is no evidence that men are more logical and women are more emotional or vice versa.

It's not at all an oxymoron. "Unreported" is this case means "not reported to the police". One of the papers I quoted actually reviews how the way a study is conducted affects rape detection, so the researchers are very very aware of what you're talking about. .An overview of the major sources of these data, as well as a review of the methodological factors known to influence levels of rape detection in women is presented

The odds of a woman getting raped is very close to 0. This is completely and absolutely false. The odds of a woman getting raped in her lifetime are very high. From Wikipedia: [In the U.S.,] more than a quarter of college age women report having experienced a rape or rape attempt since age 14... Only 16% of rapes and sexual assaults are reported to the police...about 5% of rapists will ever spend a day in jail.

Coherent = able to form words, but doesn't necessarily = able to consent. You should be very very careful when having sex with strangers. Accidentally having sex with someone when they're unable to consent is quite possible. In your scenario, the girl would probably be terrified and feel disgusting. It's unlikely that he would be charged with rape however, as only a small fraction of rape cases are reported.

Both agree that rape is morally wrong. This isn't even true for all TRP members. Above, mazzyTuff (a well-received and active member of TRP, based on his posts) continues to agree that if kidnapping and repeatedly raping a woman had a greater benefit to cost ratio (i.e. amount of sex and benefit to your life v.s. personal cost) than game, then he would do it.

Then what does morality mean? I mean if we can't decide that morality is benefit to the well-being of humans, then what is it?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/13 04:54 PM
3

When any part of the [Catholic] morality is disregarded, suffering is the invariable result. This is clearly false. Let's agree that the most moral action is the one that has the most benefit to the happiness/well-being of humans. Though we may never be able to decide the most moral action for a certain situation, we can usually say which actions are less moral and which are more moral by comparing their results to human happiness. However, if you still insist upon marriage you could: Get a prenup Have a symbolic marriage but not a legal marriage (although you would still be common law probably) Decide that love and a life goal of marriage, and the increase in lifetime happiness is more important than potential loss of money Marry someone who makes equal or more money than you so alimony will be unnecessary

But isn't the person that was working only capable of doing so because of the other person staying at home and providing support work? No, of course not. Their quality of life may decrease (dirtier house, less home-cooked food, etc.) but they would still be able to continue working at their job.

Oh okay, my bad. I don't advocate kidnapping (because I believe that it's immoral to harm other humans), but I do think it technically has a higher payoff than what TRP is currently advocating. And I definitely think it's interesting that you would kidnap and regularly rape women if it had a better sexual payoff for you. I wonder if other TRP members agree.

Here is your claim: They [feminists and TBP] deliberately and perniciously misrepresent arguments in favor of men's human rights. The deliberately, mis-state, spin, lie about, viciously, and unjustly attack people who dare to point out that men and boys are starting to do very poorly, and are beginning to fall well-short of previous expectations under the immense societal shifts that have been taking place in the west. And you wonder how they don't see men as human beings? So you have to show th…

I'm confused. Do you think there is something morally wrong with kidnapping? Edit: You said The Red Pill does not care about morals. It only cares about, Does this work? How well does this work? Who does this work on? What will this cost? Am I willing to pay this price for this result?

I think that fhqwhgads_ would profess to be a feminist. No, I wouldn't. I know very little about feminism. I'm saying the exact same thing you're saying. You say you're open to the possibility of barring a group of people for broad generalizations about that group. I say this is probably one of the reasons that people "tread lightly" on issues of sexual dimorphism - because we should be looking at people individually to determine whether they're fit for combat. /r/PurplePillDebate25/09/13 02:56 PM

And I was saying the reason some people "tread lightly" when talking about sexual dimorphsim is that it is easy to start making judgements about individuals based on generalizations about a group they belong to, when we should instead be looking at candidates individually and determining whether they are eligible.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/13 02:52 PM

That is besides the point that I am making. You said "the option should be open." He said "maybe, maybe not." Therefore, he is not convinced that the option should be open.

It may be that the majority of women can't do as well as men in combat situations. But there are some that can. Therefore, the option should be open. It should be open? Maybe, maybe not.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/13 02:11 PM

Well considering that you yourself are saying that you're not convinced whether it's a good idea to let any women into the military because of a generalization that statistically applies more to women as a group than to men, I would say that it's a good idea to tread carefully around the subject.

Geocentrism was false, but it wasn't a lie. We're talking about lying not falsehoods. Just because something can save your life doesn't mean it's not a negative emotion. Geocentrism wasn't a lie, it was something that people sincerely believed. It was misinformation. If anyone knew it was a lie, it would probably be rejected. By "bad" I mean "causes harm". Lying is generally bad because it generally causes harm. Humans value trust very highly since we are a social species. Lying destroys this trust and emotionally harms others. That's what a feeling of betrayal is.

I would say it's definitely easier for a woman to find casual sex. Women are not always open to casual sex, even if they may want it. Here are some reasons: Many women will not orgasm during a one-night stand. Some men do not think a woman's orgasm is necessary for sex (such as much of TRP). Many women have a harder time reaching orgasm, which would be even more difficult with a new partner. Many women cannot orgasm from penetration alone. Possible pregnancy or STDs. Women are more likely to con…

According to redpillschool and many other members of TRP, increasing your physical appearance by dressing well, working out, etc. is a huge part of game. I think it's funny that a group of highly promiscuous men would be more worried about spermjacking than accidentally getting a girl pregnant due to birth control failure (way way more likely). I'd let them have their say I think that it's pretty terrible that you would let a group say hateful things about all men without trying to tell them that they're wrong. There is no hatred of men on TBP, only hatred of TRP. I know very little about feminism but I'm pretty sure you can be for women's rights and for men's rights at the same time. Which I am. I believe that feminism is an ideology whose aim is to establish equal political, economic and social rights for women (because that's the definition of it) there is no evidence that women prefer dominant men, and you shouldn't assume that a woman you don't know wants to be dominated people usually have a good idea of what they're attracted to/looking for in a partner, but there are some factors that they may not be aware of the set of traits that someone is looking for in a partner varies wildl…

That's funny, because I recall that you thought that men and women should revert back to being the same size if there were no longer evolutionary pressures that would keep us different sizes.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/13 04:56 PM

Many blue pillers believe that men and women are identical No one thinks this. Furthermore, they believe that our culture is inherently sexist and oppresses women, but not men We just had a thread yesterday with TBP expressing concern about male oppression. I've seen them claim that men are physically stronger than women only because of culture, and that a male and female insect mating is "not necessarily an innate behavior" (seriously, an insect, a tiny little machine of determinism, with no cr…

I think TRP falls more into the category of conspiracy theory, but there are some parallels here too!
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 04:43 PM
7

Oh definitely. I think by the time you're dating someone you should be able to read their body language and verbal consent isn't usually necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 04:40 PM
2

This is what I always thought the Patriarchy was as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 04:17 PM
7

The point is that you're asking for consent. If it's your first kiss with someone, you want to be pretty sure they're on the same page as you. If you're having trouble reading their body language, asking "Can I kiss you?" or saying "I really want to kiss you" and seeing how they respond is a really good way to gauge that. Saying "I'm going to kiss you" is kind of the opposite of that.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 04:13 PM
9

I think you misunderstood my comment. I was in my mid-20s. It was far from my first relationship. It was our first kiss so it made sense that he wanted to make sure we were on the same page. And it also had the benefit of being sexy.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 04:09 PM

So I'd love if you could respond to my points above which directly address your question "If we showed this picture to 10,000 women and asked them to choose which they would rather have sex with, what do you suppose the ratio of selections would be." It includes two scientific articles which are very relevant to this discussion.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/13 03:29 PM

If you read some of the other posts here, it becomes clear that TRP can't actually be summed up. The underlying themes seem to be: there is a conspiracy with feminism at the centre with the purpose of fucking men over women want to be dominated by men, and prefer for men to make decisions for them women don't know what they want/what they're attracted to women are largely all attracted to the same set of qualities, and men are largely all attracted to the same set of qualities a guy who sleeps a…

We're not going to gain any interesting insight by asking people to guess what the outcome of a poll would be. Or maybe they decide as a society that men deserve more food than women? Or maybe none of these things because we're both just speculating when we should be looking for scientific articles? Also it seems like most of this sexual dimorphism mystery is still a mystery to scientists, so I doubt we're going to be able to say anything valuable.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 09:33 PM
3

Yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 08:45 PM
2

Nope. TRP has stated many many times that women don't understand what they are actually attracted to. Here is a full thread about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 08:37 PM
2

Okay, so do you agree that women have less power in society than men?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 08:19 PM
3

You say that men should be dominant and should have final say in household decisions, and women should be submissive, and yet you think women and men have equal power?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 08:01 PM
2

Well that's just a difference of definition. I mean, they change the definition of sexism to add power. Since (very generally) women have less power in society than men, they use another word for women being sexist against men. They're not saying women can't be prejudiced against men for being men. It sounds pretty stupid, but I know very little about feminism so maybe this change of definition could be useful? But I'm skeptical.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 07:33 PM

That's exactly how people convince themselves that healing crystals work. Edit to add: Healing crystals could make someone feel better than chemo. They could feel healthier using healing crystals than they ever felt doing chemo. However, they're still probably going to die from cancer.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 07:25 PM
2

I would really like to see a description of the subset of women that TRP strategy works on.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 06:41 PM
2

So you don't believe that homeopathy or healing crystals work, and yet many people say they work better than scientific solutions. Why do you think they believe that but you don't?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 06:31 PM
1

I agree that it sounds like institutionalized sexism. Do you know why it couldn't be institutionalized by definition according to feminists? Just because our society is sexist against women much more often than it is sexist against men doesn't mean that it isn't also sometimes sexist against men.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 06:29 PM

If men were selected for muscle, does it matter what caused our species to select for it? Yes. It seems that smaller men were negatively selected for (killed by other men during mating fights), rather than that larger men were positively selected for by females. In that case, female sexual preferences do not come into play at all. They choose whichever male is still alive. In modern society, women have a little more choice. For example, if I decide that I'm not really into muscular men and prefe…

/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 04:03 PM

It's generally accepted among feminists and by extension, many TBP'ers that misandry is impossible/non-existant. This is completely 100% false. Where did you hear this? Of course misandry is real!
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 03:54 PM
2

Exactly, and there are the same issues with men wanting to pursue "feminine" pursuits, such as being a nurse or a stay-at-home dad. We should be discouraging the gendering of careers.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 03:15 PM

One person's misogynist is another person's saint Then the other person is probably also a misogynist.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 12:53 PM

Now you're mixing up personal preference with which one actually works better.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 12:50 PM
3

The point was that colds and athletes foot go away by themselves as well. Do you actually believe that healing crystals and homeopathy work? As we live our lives, we can only personally collect a very small data set, which can be very misleading. That's why we use science in order to see the larger picture and get a more accurate description of reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/13 12:48 PM
7

If you're not going to continue to debate me, I will conclude. So in conclusion, TRP can be likened to a conspiracy theory where feminism is the secret central organization, and only TRP knows the "truth about society".
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 08:54 PM
2

No, there would be no reason to enact any of these laws, because these groups are not coherent groups. The point of welfare is for fortunate people to help people who are less fortunate survive. The point of universal healthcare is to make sure everyone gets help when they need it. What you seem to want is a system where everyone just pays for themselves. That's fine, but again has nothing to do with gender.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 08:19 PM

If you make a claim, you should have sufficient evidence to back up your claim. We're just looking for that evidence. Otherwise, we have no reason to believe that your claim is true.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 07:56 PM
5

Of course. If anyone gave me substantial evidence to back up a claim, I would have to reconsider my viewpoint on that claim. Currently, I have a very neutral view on most gender topics (no correlation with respect to gender), but could be swayed by scientific findings. For instance, awhile ago I read a couple of articles that talked about how testosterone was correlated with aggression, leading to the conclusion that women may be biologically less aggressive than men. Then I read a discussion he…

I frequent /r/relationships and there is no way that a reasonable person could say it downplays men's issues. Most of the commenters there give very level-headed and respectful advice. /r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 06:57 PM

In the context of healthcare and welfare, there are much greater intragroup differences than intergroup differences. So this really shouldn't be a gender issue at all.

Does this apply for everything in your life, or just for sexual strategy? Do you need to see everything for yourself to believe it? Or do you rely on expert opinions for most other things (for example: evolution, history, medicine)?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 04:11 PM
3

Most girls grow up being told, passively or directly, to be ashamed of their sexuality. I agree. Many people think that men can't help thinking about sex all the time, so it's a woman's job to dress and act modestly if she doesn't want sexual attention from men. This is very very common in religious cultures.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 04:03 PM
4

It sounds like he's not in a place to be picking girls up right now. It sounds like before he tries sexual relationships, he should work on building solid platonic relationships. In my experience, attempting to have a sexual relationship when there's so many things you're unhappy with about yourself ends in a very messy and destructive way. We recognize falsifiability in a different way. Falsifiability is being used properly here. Well which is it?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 03:47 PM
5

So you disagree with most of TRP then. it wasn't intentional I have seen at least a dozen comments on TRP about how feminists are intentionally trying to skew the sexual marketplace. In fact, there is a thread about this on the front page of TRP right now. it wasn't a secret It's apparently a secret to non-TRPers, as the rest of the population (besides some other fringe men's rights groups) think that feminism "caused a lot of problems".
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 03:43 PM
6

Falsifiability is a very precise term. Use a different word if that's not what you mean. A method working or not working has no bearing on whether your justification behind it is true. So your initial talk about the pursuit of truth is not related to this comment.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 03:33 PM

Oh right that was you! I enjoyed that debate actually, thanks for that! one of the best ways I see to have discussion is to get an individual's stance on an issue I would say the opposite of this. I think we need to find opinions that are shared by a large group of TRP members. I have been trying to do this by looking at front page posts on TRP and choosing things that I disagree with but seem to get positive feedback from TRP members. What is an example of a moderate TRP viewpoint that you woul…

Many TRP members believe that feminism is behind most of the wrong in society. Edit: Not every thing held by culture is right. And that actually was a conspiracy! So are you defending conspiracy theories? During the time that people thought the world was flat, no one knew how to read and there was certainly no database of information accessible to almost anyone that includes thousands of scientific articles about any topic you can think of.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 03:20 PM
1

Well yes that's what we're finding. But at least for me, the reason I like to participate in these conversations is that it gives me a forum where I have to justify the beliefs I hold which 99% of the population (other than TRP) agree with me about. And sometimes it's harder than you would expect!
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/13 03:19 PM
4

This is a fantastic post. I agree with your assessment that these views are probably emotionally motivated. Here is another viewpoint: TRP has a strong belief that respect must be earned, not given freely. TRP also believes that women are constantly being given things without earning them and they have very few struggles in their lives (which is one reason TRP gives as to why women don't mature past teenagers), whereas men have to earn everything they have. Thus, it follows that women don't dese…

pursue the truth. It relies heavily on experience, and takes the position that there is heavy interest in the mainstream holding incorrect views, so people often believe and repeat lies. None of this distinguishes TRP from any conspiracy theory. This is the problem I frequently find when TRP members say what the core concept of TRP is - you need to distinguish it from other groups. Then I get "Men and women are different" which 99.999% of the population think, so that's not very useful either. T…

I would hate to speculate. However, upvoting a post to the front page of a subreddit implies general community endorsement of that post. One mod deleting a post does not imply anything about the general community in that subreddit, especially when three endorsed contributors endorse the post (assuming that mods and endorsed contributors have similar sway in the community). In fact, a lot of blue pillers talk about how our subscriber rate isn't that large because most people are there just to troll and watch us act like idiots.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 07:43 PM
6

Okay, so in conclusion: Even if most of TRP agrees on something, if redpillschool doesn't agree then it's not part of TRP. Even if it's on the front page and was well-received and was submitted by a TRP endorsed submitter and agreed upon by at least two other TRP endorsed submitters.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 07:09 PM

Actually, one of your members thinks that the reason the post had some downvotes was that it was being brigaded by TBP. In that case, it would be even more well-received than what I proposed. blue pill has just about that many members and enjoys brigading regularly. Seems to me you'd have a hard time proving to me that not every one of those votes was them. Are you insinuating that TBP members brigade posts on TRP to upvote them? Are you saying that posts that are on the front page of TRP cannot…

Again, the act of one member (deleting the post) doesn't negate the actions of all the other members who upvoted and commented agreeing with the post.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 06:13 PM
7

A fringe idea? TokyoPickup, IllimitableMan, and TRPsubmitter all posted similar comments on the post. If they represent fringe ideas, then it shouldn't say "TRP endorsed" beside their names. Again, the act of one member (deleting the post) doesn't negate the actions of all the other members who upvoted and commented agreeing with the post. Edit: When a post gets upvoted to the front page on the subreddit and have generally positive comments, you can no longer call it a fringe idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 06:10 PM
8

So you're saying that the act of one member (deleting the post) negates the acts of all the other members who upvoted and commented agreeing with the post?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 05:40 PM
8

There is no ambiguity in the comments I posted above. They advocate using violence to keep women in line within a relationship. They imply that if you want a "Red Pill" relationship, violence is very useful in obtaining that. This shows that TRP generally does endorse violence. You don't, but generally TRP as a group (both general members and endorsed contributors) does.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 04:52 PM
8

So you agree that generally in the TRP community, as well as for many (at least 3) TRP endorsed contributors, violence against women is seen as a good way to keep women in line. However, you personally don't agree, so you removed it.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 04:39 PM
6

Okay so then it addresses zero of my points. At least three TRP endorsed members wrote comments advising violence against women. They were left up. The community endorsed it. Comments saying violence against women is a problem were taken down.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/13 04:35 PM

So this is all you have to say about that? You removed the post. You also removed most of the comments saying violence against women is a problem. However, in the same thread you left comments up that advised men to use physical force against women. This thread had a lot of traffic and received a positive reaction from the community. In conclusion, TRP condones violence against women.

if a breach happened, it would result in a law suit, not in forcing somebody to have sex. /r/PurplePillDebate16/09/13 04:56 PM

Giving birth to someone can be considered impactful; forcing an important TRP concept down someone's throat is telling something impactful. Raising a child requires a LOT of impactful statements. About 18 years of impactful statements. And are you saying that you don't talk to your female friends? I never said men weren't robots at work. So you're saying that everyone is "robots at work"? Can you just please stick to proper manners you're just making me laugh with this shit you're giving me Hmmm

The quote was: What about society in general? When has anything a woman ever said improved society and the world as a whole? So it was clearly not about "casual talk you have on a daily basis with women." A quick Google search gives me a list of some important women who changed the course of history.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/13 04:19 PM

Your responses blatantly contradict. Your mom hasn't impacted your life? Your female friends haven't impacted your life? Female reserachers, politicians, doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. aren't "robots at work" any more than men are robots at work. You literally stated that you have women in your life who are important to you socially and also women who are important to the world in which you live, and yet somehow none of them have ever said something impactful? That doesn't make logical sense.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/13 04:04 PM

A reason why this doesn't apply to guys is because women are known as the gatekeepers of sex. Her 'job' her entire life was basically to deny a bunch of men sex, while guys are on the other end of it. So in that case it should be even easier for a man to not be a slut, because they have to actively seek casual sex.

When someone has sex with another person within two weeks of dating, they're showing that they're immature and don't truly understand what sex is. This doesn't make sense...

Who raised you? Have you ever had female friends? Have you ever had female teachers? Do you live in a society where there are women in government? Do you live in a society where there are female researchers? Have you ever dated a woman? It seems obvious that for women to be useful to society at all, things they say need to be useful as well. Our society is based around verbal and written communication. So the claim that women can be useful in the workplace but not say useful things is invalid.

Honestly nothing you said in this post is remotely close to what I've experienced in my life. Probably 3% of my female friends follow popular culture - about the same amount as my male friends. I was recently having a discussion about work with my friends and there was zero discernable difference between the way the men and women talked about their research.

Yes but the differences in aggression could also just as easily be cultural. Men are encouraged to be rowdy, roughhousing and playfighting as children, while women are not. This could contribute to aggression as an adult.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/13 04:21 PM

This says: An observable difference in crime rates between men and women might be due to social and cultural factors, crimes going unreported, or to biological factors So this article doesn't actually support that men are more physically aggressive due to biology. It gives it as a possibility though.

Taken in Hand and CDD are about consensual control. You choose as a couple whether or not you want to partake in these. This is not what the original article was about - there was no consent.

Physical needs: need for medical attention if sick, hunger, thirst, being horny. Emotional needs: need to feel close to someone, need for trust, need for sharing your life with someone else.

Men are just more physically aggressive naturally. Why would you think this? What proof do you have?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/13 07:28 AM

Just because something's a physical need doesn't insinuate the potential of death. I mean, sometimes I get horny and then I go masturbate and then I feel better. I didn't satisfy an emotional need, I satisfied a physical need.

The heavily downvoted ones are usually from the mods, who also happen to be some of the most extreme members. When I quote things from TRP I usually say how well-received it was. Again, that is not real life - that is a naively simple view of the world. And even if somehow that was true, there are women of varying levels of attractiveness just as there are men of varying levels of attractiveness. Also you didn't actually address my question. Why don't you think that attractive people are interested in the personalities of people they date, and only ugly people are interested in things other than looks?

The original post has nothing to with domestic violence against men. It is about "spanking your wife if she deserves it." Potential reasons she would deserve it are given, such as that she forgets that the man is in charge (it's a man's world), for preventative purposes, or if she doesn't know how to behave and is acting like a child.

In my relationship we take turns being dominant in bed. It's fun to switch it up! But most of the time neither of us are really dominant per say. I mean it's sex, so we're each just doing things to make each other feel good. That doesn't necessarily need to be a dominant or submissive behaviour.

He lives his life for himself and isn't always trying to please you. Yes, he makes compromises, but remains firm on many things. This is how women should act in relationships as well. You're not even making sense at this point. Most women can attract a mate if she's serious about it, but a growing number of men are involuntarily celibate? Let's check those numbers shall we. My "list of attractive things" in a man (not sure where this list is) are things that are useful to women? Yes, because I'm talking about things women find attractive in a man. With such a overarching claim that women as a group prefer something, I can refute it with an anecdote of women not acting in the manner that you mentioned. You tried to back up your claim with arguments that did not make sense, i.e. men must gain experience to satisfy a woman in bed. I already stated one of the reasons it doesn't make sens…

What you're saying is false. Yes you're right, shitty women exist who would do all those things you mentioned. However, you shouldn't live life based off of what bad people may or may not do. Instead, try to date someone who is loyal and treats you well. Far less put up with a lifetime of bad sex. Not sure where this is coming from. So men who have only had sex with one woman are always going to be bad in bed? I don't think so. the two major causes of divorce are: 1. sex This has nothing to do w…

Saying "sounds like judging to me" is not taking personal offense. I think you may be projecting here. The reason TRP doesn't think promiscuous women are suitable for marriage is because they are taking a handful of generalizations and statistics and applying them to every promiscuous woman they meet. This is called stereotyping. Some people fit into stereotypes. That doesn't mean they're correct, useful or socially acceptable.

If we're talking about long term relationships, then I don't think it's true that women would consider it a negative for their partner to have been a virgin previous to their relationship. I have friends who dated male virgins and said nothing negative about it, and I would have thought it strange (and probably thought less of them) if they had said something negative. Out of all of the qualities in a potential partner, the number of previous sex partners they've had is extremely minor and it se…

Albinos are not common, does that increase their SMV? I can certainly agree that its hypocritical, but in the field men prefer women who have not had an inexhaustible list of sexual partners. I'm sure that's true for many men. It's also true that women prefer men who have not had an inexhaustible list of sexual partners.

Virgin women being "rare" doesn't add to your argument at all. Just because a quality is rare doesn't mean it add or detracts from a person. In my experience, most people would prefer to date someone with similar dating background to them. It seems hypocritical to expect chastity from your partner when you don't hold yourself to that standard.

You posited the question as if those are the only three possibilities. 2) is kind of misleading. It should be: 2) that in the case of reading ability, there are no aggreagate differences between boys and girls, but that every culture is biased in favor of girls in terms of reading but to different extents (and possibly using different cultural mechanisms).

First off, I don't NEED another possible explanation to refute your explanation. This is the exact same argument religious people use about the creation of the universe. However, an idea that comes to the top of my head is that the cultures in the study have similarities in gender identities and roles which could contribute to similar advantages for girls over boys in reading. An example that I used previously is that girls are encouraged to play games where they need to listen and sit calmly (e…

Except for the men who aren't worried about the number of sexual partners. So the woman's SMV may have gone down for some men, but stayed the same for some men, and may have even gone up (if she learned some new techniques in bed, gained life experience, or "scratched that itch") for some men. So it seems like SMV is not a useful metric.

Experiences are not evidence! It is perfectly reasonable to write off someone else's experience by countering it with your own experience! So yes, I AM perfectly comfortable writing off some people's experiences using my own. And I think everyone can agree that the "sexual landscape" differs between men and women. That's not an argument anyone's trying to make. We're saying yes, you could potentially say that women are the gatekeepers of sex more often than men are in certain situations. However…

But you agree that SMV is subjective depending on the individual woman, right? So in the case of a woman who prefers a low partner count in a man, his SMV WOULD go down. In that case, it seems that every choice you make may make you more attractive to some men/women, and less attractive to others. So unless you want to build your life based on trying to optimize the number of people who would potentially be interested in you by being as average in your choices as possible, it would make more sen…

Asking which one of these is more likely is not a useful question when we have no evidence one way or another. That is my answer to your question. It's actually been commented by many different members in TRP that women lose their SMV for two reasons: When a woman has sex with multiple men (but not the same man multiple times) her vagina gets stretched out and it's no longer pleasurable to have sex with her. Sometimes they say that she is "used up". When a woman has sex with multiple men (but not the same man multiple times) she will eventually use up all of her oxytocin and no longer be able to form romantic attachments to other humans (o…

I'm a scientist and many others in this sub are as well, so no need to simplify. I'm afraid we've gone off on a tangent here. I think the biggest change in modern society that needs to be made is that people shouldn't feel that they need to conform to gender roles. A lot of scientific research has shown that the differences seen between men and women are mostly social constructs (how we were raised) rather than biological. I think a lot of this can be changed with a simple parenting change: let kids play with toys meant for both genders, encourage kids to pursue things that they are interested in even if it is stereoty…
