It is fucking tough. Hardest thing I have ever been through. Know this, emotions are not a constant state, they will undoubtedly change over time. It will get better especially if you adopt a growth mindset. Sure, go ahead and sulk, binge, whatever, but set a point in time in future where you will start taking care of yourself. If you have kids, focus on them! Here is you need someone! My D was final last month. What a fucking relief!

If you are correct about the law, then I would ask the mediator to set her straight. It is likely better to come from them than from you, Unfortunately, the think that helped me/ us the most was time. It took 1.5/2 years for ideas and concepts to become reality in my brain. I wish we could have gotten there sooner, but you are both going to feel a bit screwed in the process. Also, there are many interpretations of family law so be open to that. Best of luck! I am in a community property state. Most assets were joint, and she challenged separate property. Yes, 3 kids 14 and under. We have pretty decent net worth and when the attorneys saw a vulnerable woman I think they tried to maximize their payday. I feel like the strategy of attorney is to determine a line each party won’t cross and then exploit it for their gain.

Unfortunately, it takes two to tango. I would have gladly done this myself, but she kept issuing discovery requests and taking me to temporary hearings. I have sold businesses and done multiple real estate deals without attorneys, but I was in control of those scenarios.

While I lost about half my assets, I am good financially. I used to be a financial advisor, when I worked. I still have 3 kids under age 15, so nearly half my time is spoken for.
