No it's not stupid or ridiculous it's human nature to want to be with someone. You need to know when you're ready to date.

It's been quite a while since we divorced but I have takeen several solo tripz to Japan and loved it each time I've gone. I think everyone should do a solo vacation once in their life and feel not having someone with you most of the time. Do it you deserve to experience solo traveling. There's r/solotravel you can check out for more information.

I agree that there is a a therapeutic thing to working with your hands. I did pick up my old hobby when separated.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 04:14 PM

Hobbies help a lot with the quiet. Once I'm engaged in building something the quiet goes away.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 01:51 PM

Where I live it's a crime to change the locks on a door especially if you lived there for a while. You should talk to a lawyer asap.
/r/Divorce_Men14/01/26 08:19 PM

No this is not odd at all, I got invited to dinner with a bunch of people and I politely refused. I wanted to be alone and enjoy it, I'll work on my hobbies and sleep in. I just wasn't feeling Christmas and being around people this year. It didn't help that I was was sick and work was hectic I just wanted some me time. I may do the same thing for New Year's as well.

Lol never in a million years Do you think she'll take a bullet for me? 🤣🤣😅
/r/Divorce_Men20/12/25 03:38 AM
5

Control, She wants to control the finances or tell you when you should go to sleep. They want to go through your phone to see what you're doing. She doesn't have a Job (the biggest red flag) or lifetime student.
/r/Divorce_Men16/12/25 12:57 PM

You can still go out and enjoy dinner alone. Go see a movie or take up a new hobby.

No you're not going crazy, Women are like that. Maybe something happened not necessarily the death of her parents who knows only she does. Has she asked you for a divorce yet if not try to reconcile and if that don't work file for a divorce.

How did you find this good woman?
/r/Divorce_Men06/10/25 12:46 AM

Hell yeah I'm happier than when I was married, if I was still married to her I would have never been able to go on a vacation to my dream destination in a million years. I don't have the constant feeling of walking on eggshells around her like other people here mention the same thing with their ex wives. I feel so much freedom to go after all the things I want without her nagging me about it constantly. Divorce was probably the best thing that has happened to me and made me grow as a person and …

Amen this guy preaches the truth, Date younger everyone is doing it.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/25 12:25 AM

Youre not useless, you need to change your mindset and I know its tough. Its been 2 years since you've divorced, have you even looked at other women. Have you downloaded some dating apps. Im not sure where you're at but I've never noticed so much skin since the temps have broken 80 degrees. If women in your age group aren't responding date younger women. Someone probably has suggested it but have you thought about getting a therapist to help with your confidence.

Personally I have kids already and don't want anymore, if she has kids thats cool. I would like to have a vasectomy going forward I'm done populating the world. It depends on your age and status, If you want more go for it

/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 09:22 PM

That's correct but we both don't want it to be fixed. Theres too much damage done and yeah that's not going to happen.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 07:07 PM

I'm pretty sure she gave up on me a long time ago, So yeah I'm done with her.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 06:55 PM

I'm trying to get my lawyer to get her to sign off on some papers. I don't know I don't have any contact with her. I'm not liable for any of her bills lol why would I be. I need to talk to my lawyer to keep pushing my agenda which is divorce. Thats not my problem if shes wants to have my last name that's her problem.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 04:47 PM
1

That's your opinion, my last name is my name. She didn't have it before we got married and she is not entitled to it now.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 12:07 PM

That still makes no sense its hanging on to something that's gone.

Be on the lookout for a change in her personality, She will change like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Keep a record of all her crazy messages to you because she will do irrational stuff.

Seeing her with her new boyfriend helped a little. Also I remembered when I begged her to lets start over again with a bunch of roses on my knee. After that I was done being treated like a dog.

You should call it quits when sex stops. Then you should get a lawyer to help you start a divorce.
/r/Divorce_Men06/04/25 01:33 PM

Yes my STBXW thought it would be a cakewalk if she did it herself.
/r/Divorce_Men05/04/25 03:34 AM

My STBXW checked out a long time ago as well.
/r/Divorce_Men31/03/25 01:53 AM

It depends on what you want from marriage some want companionship others want a permanent fwb or kids. Go into marriage thinking one day is possible for it to end. Keep your assets separate legally and have an emergency fund for emergencies lol. Be aware that people change and circumstances change marriages are always dynamic and if you're unwilling or slow to change you could be in a shit show. That's my view on marriage I got two great kids from it and for that I'm happy.
/r/Divorce_Men28/03/25 12:01 PM

Lol I wish I could dish the dirt on my STBXW.

Im glad you got the girls back, Im so sorry your daughters and you had to go through this. "I'm never opening my door for cops again" You learned a valuable lesson.
/r/Divorce_Men23/03/25 05:59 PM

You're right, it could mean anything, If a lawyer is working for you they shouldn't get paid. Why would a layman do this and not a lawyer, If there is proof of infidelity enforceable by law it should be pursued.
/r/Divorce_Men22/03/25 06:56 PM
1

Wow I guess this is a real thing.
/r/Divorce_Men22/03/25 01:15 PM

I'm going to ask if I can do that lol.
/r/Divorce_Men22/03/25 12:20 PM

Congratulations on your first step to getting rid of the baggage. Be prepared for her to become irational condescending, friendly all at the same time. I would keep records of all conversations with her via text email and written. Good luck to you, I wish you the best.

My view on divorce is that it should be easier and more transparent than it is. I think also there's a lot of "the grass is greener on the other side"
/r/Divorce_Men07/03/25 05:43 PM
2

It probably would be a bad idea for a hookup here and there because it'll do nothing for your self-worth but inflate it. What you should do is look into lawyers and make sure you have a separation agreement that is valid. I would also work on yourself as a man. You could go to the gym or make clay vases, whatever you think will make you happy. Don't sit on your hands waiting for her to make the first move be proactive this is your life not hers.
/r/Divorce_Men07/03/25 04:37 PM
1

Maybe I'm not understanding want to explain?
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 09:37 PM
2

I do not plan on signing anything she presents to me. I've been in contact with my lawyer and she says the same thing. I would never take any advice from my STBX because she's always been bad at giving advice lol. There is no property so there are no worries in that area.
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 05:23 PM
2

Lol sounds like my STBXW.
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 02:10 PM

Oh ok interesting, I'm still not signing those papers lol.

No why do you ask?
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 12:10 PM

I have my pride so unless my lawyer says otherwise I'm not signing jack.
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 05:04 AM

Lol I'm not F that she asked me to leave.
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 05:01 AM

Don't beg it doesn't work and it's not a good look, in fact I bet they get off on that.
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/25 04:58 AM

Youre welcome and she still hasnt filed the divorce looks like Im going to need to do it.
/r/Divorce_Men16/02/25 02:39 AM

lol good job I guess my STBXW doesnt think I'll do it either.
/r/Divorce_Men16/02/25 02:36 AM

My STBXW got evil after she wanted to move forward with our divorce for some reason. You just have to be the bigger person and not fall into that trap.
/r/Divorce_Men16/02/25 02:11 AM
3

Nice they're usually clueless.
/r/Divorce_Men02/02/25 11:46 PM

There's nothing you can do unless you taxidermy her prevent her friends and family from calling her. I think you should prepare for the eventually that you guys will seperate. I've been through this and I'm sorry you have to experience this.

You've got a lot of great responses already, but I figured I'd add my 2 cents. This year, I wanted some privacy, so I stayed home for Christmas Eve and was very happy to have the time alone. New Years I got the Norovirus bug and that sideline me from going anywhere again. I was very happy to be alone. I would say enjoy the time you get to have by yourself because it's far and few. I'm not sure if you have any hobbies, but consider picking up one. I'm an N scalee japanese model railroading enthus…

Go to the courthouse and get your own copies of your marriage certificate that's what I did when I realized I didn't have any copies.
/r/Divorce_Men31/12/24 02:01 PM

I usually have Christmas eve dinner with my STBX in-laws so you know who is there. I decided that I would stay home this Christmas eve and it was nice and quiet. I may do thw same for new years as well.

Welcome to the club of hearing NOTHING from the STBXW and the Lawyer because my lawyer is on record serving both with papers and all I have is radio silence.
/r/Divorce_Men02/11/24 03:29 PM
7

Lol not to make light of your situation but my STBXW has also been texting me word vomit also. I do nothing and let her ramble on. I'm not going to add anything else she can use against me in a courthouse.
/r/Divorce_Men20/10/24 08:47 PM

Lol you're right.

/r/Divorce_Men16/10/24 12:13 PM
1

I didn't think my lawyer is dragging this out at all she's been pretty gung-ho all through this. I'm in no rush I just wish it was over a long time ago.
/r/Divorce_Men16/10/24 03:36 AM
2

Wow, I agree with you on this.
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/24 09:57 PM
2

There should be a law against slowing the process down on purpose by making mistakes and not responding in a proper and timely manner.
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/24 09:50 PM
1

Im sure there are things that can be done to push this along if someone isn't cooperating with the process. I'm in no rush either but since it's been a while is like it to get moving a little lol.
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/24 09:45 PM

She wanted this now she has it we've been doing this for a while now and can't wait until it's completed. I wouldn't be surprised she's trying to hold onto something that I don't have. My lawyer said that thus isn't the first time she's heard of this happening. When the lawyer told me the steps that she went through to answer the STBXW petitions I was gobsmacked I thought it was easier.
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/24 09:42 PM
3

My STBXW started the proceedings also ahe was so Gung ho about but thought she knew the legal process but she didn't. I wonder if anything can be done if she continues to drag her feet on this.
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/24 09:35 PM
2

I'd do jokes about how she thought she'd get half of everything & only got a 1/4.
/r/Divorce_Men08/10/24 10:24 PM
2

Not to my knowledge but I'm not a solicitor in your country or any country. Usually you get a signed separation agreement abide by it with terms and conditions. Then you proceed with the divorce. You're probably looking for a Pro Se divorce where you file the paperwork just look up that term to get started and see if it applies to you.
/r/Divorce_Men08/10/24 12:38 PM
2

Amen!!!
/r/Divorce_Men03/10/24 12:25 AM

You're welcome, For me it is sushi, Its refreshing to hear another Divorced man experience dating after divorce.
/r/Divorce_Men02/10/24 11:45 PM

You could have heard the brakes screech a mile away when she said she was in an open relationship lol. Dont get too down about this its part of life. My therapist to me I need to find what Im looking for instead of it coming to me so thats what I'll be doing. I'm glad you got out there and took a chance instead of eating nachos and Ben & Jerry's ice cream good for you and thanks for sharing.
/r/Divorce_Men02/10/24 10:52 PM

/r/Divorce_Men16/09/24 11:40 AM

Yes, it's fine to be a single dad They've been around for hundreds of years and will be for hundreds more. You'll learn new coping methods and adjust. Seriously being single isn't the end of the world and you may even enjoy it if given half a chance. I would even say that you'll learn new things about yourself that you've forgotten about.
/r/Divorce_Men14/09/24 01:20 AM

I think we're all happy to get away from someone who cause us mental anguish or physical pain. If my wife hadn't divorced me Id still be trying to fit in some mold that she wanted me to fit in. You can't fit a round peg into a square hole. Plus the sex wasn't that great either.
/r/Divorce_Men11/09/24 01:29 PM
4

Congratulations although you may feel like a failure this is the perfect time to start something new. Start a new hobby or a new workout routine. Maybe you can call that friend you haven't seen in months, How about going on that trip that you've been planning. Now is a great time to think about you and no one else if no one depends on you.
/r/Divorce_Men29/08/24 10:13 PM

That sounds like a good plan. I hope you have a big turn out.
/r/Divorce_Men23/08/24 12:27 PM

Sometimes it's better to be alone but we're all social creatures so don't rule it out entirely. Im Sorry you've gone through what you have I'm sure it was tough. All I can say is keep a close eye on any joint accounts that you may have together for any large withdrawals. Of course seek out legal representation ASAP don't let any time pass on this the sooner the better. There will be angry words from her most likely. My stbxw accused me of all kinds of things which were false. If you don't have a…

You'll be ok I know it doesn't seem like it but you will. I know it been said already but get a hobby or two work on a car or work out get a 3D printer. Definitely get out of the house go to museums or events in your town. Get a therapist if you need someone to talk to so you can get support going through this. It'll take some time but you will make it through this. Remember how you were before this now you can make yourself better.
/r/Divorce_Men05/08/24 06:27 PM

/r/Divorce_Men31/07/24 01:28 AM

My STBXW has gone nuclear as well texting allegations of cheating and other stuff. She's about one step from being blocked on my phone any day now.

When things don't go their way they are absolutely nucking futs, They will accuse you of things from the past and expect you to be reactionary to them. They will use deceit to entice you into their warped sense of reality, They are not the person that you married.
/r/Divorce_Men25/07/24 11:34 PM

I think there is a thing called the 7-year itch but got an upgrade to the 10-year itch. I doubt that id ever get married again dating is bad enough so there's that, But my motto is never say never good luck to you,
/r/Divorce_Men22/07/24 06:54 PM
10

My red flags are she's rushing to get married. She has no job or hobbies no friends either at least have one. She compares herself to her friends that's a bad sign.
/r/Divorce_Men21/07/24 06:13 AM

You're always welcome to talk about your divorce experiences here. It gives us noobs some foresight about what's happening. Today I just signed my Answer and Counterclaim woo hoo, congratulations to you.
/r/Divorce_Men17/07/24 10:17 PM

I used to crave stbxw attention too before she became a raven maniac lunatic now I'm happy when I don't hear from her. What you need to do is fill your time with other things, Remember who you were before you got married now is a good time to become a better version of that. Pick up some hobbies like going to the gym or running or model trains in my case. Get as many hobbies as you can afford, I know you have a lot on your plate but you are moving forward and that's what's important YOU. This is…

/r/Divorce_Men26/06/24 12:08 AM

That kind of aggressive is not good especially in a situation that needs compromise. I can't wait to see my lawyers answer to my stbxw complaint then we'll know.
/r/Divorce_Men21/06/24 12:04 PM

2

Sorry to hear that my lawyer is very proactive.
/r/Divorce_Men19/06/24 01:21 AM

Hmmmmmm, Interesting tactics. My lawyer said stuff was missing as well and I had an issue with the abandonedment terminology. I hope no one is playing those games with the paperwork as it's already filed.

/r/Divorce_Men18/06/24 08:24 PM
2

I thought it was just me lol guess not. She didn't seem to make any issues that I noticed. She was very matter of fact actually and wanted to write up something that was more along the lines of what I was thinking. I'm extremely happy and couldn't ask for more.

Thanks for your reply, We're past a lot of the things that you mentioned thank goodness. The children are adults so no tax or child support issues. We are financially independent so were good there. We'll see once the documents show up. I probably should have called my lawyer and let him know that there should be a docket # on file now.
/r/Divorce_Men13/06/24 04:04 AM

It's been a while but several months after the separation I had a long term fwb. Now I'm keeping to myself I've even disabled my Hinge profile it's been a month or so.

And you never wake up lol.
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/24 11:05 PM

Wow you sound like me, A lack of interests sounds like a classic depression scenario but I'm no therapist. I'd suggest you get a therapist and tell them about you lack of interest in your old hobbys. I have a passing interest in things that ive devoted lots of time to. Maybe pick up a new hobby, I'm thinking about getting a new video game as soon as I snap out of whatever it is I'm going through good luck to you.

/r/Divorce_Men21/04/24 02:32 AM

I'm glad you were able to split on amicable terms, I'm glad you were able to get the kids since she wasn't able to deal with them. Don't dwell on where she is she could be at a church service or volunteering at a soup kitchen. You need to take care of yourself in the meantime. Me time is always a good time it gives you time to think out things a bit clearer without the noise, I would advise against too much me time or invasive thoughts may take root. I did that too when she wasn't where I though…
