As long as you're not doing it to shut down women, it's chill

I was like that video of the racoon holding the candyfloss over the water, only to drop it and not see it disintegrate...heartbroken.

What did you say in retaliation? Because I was in the EXACT same boat the other week with a guy. Any time I tried to say it was demoralising and inherently biased against women for them to engage in sex work, he would retort that surely, I was taking away their freedom of choice by saying that. Despite the fact I have friends who have worked in the sex industry, and have told me first hand how traumatising and degrading it was. I felt like I was being backed into a moralistic corner, where I was…

I met a woman in a queue when I was travelling, who told me she was alone on an empty train carriage a few days before. A man approached and sat OPPOSITE her, despite several other seats being available, and proceeded to touch himself inappropriately as he thought she was asleep.

Oh Chrust, I just remembered something long buried in my memory. Having a laugh and joke with friends while crossing the street on a warm summer's day, and some GROWN ASS BABY MAN calling me a slut cause I was wearing shorts. I was about 14...vile prick.

My best friend had an ex who was SO incompetent with a washing machine that he 1. Didn't listen to her sage advice about what settings to put clothes on 2. Ended up shredding my friend's cherished and irreplaceable dress that she got from her mother

Imagine if all this energy spent AVOIDING work actually went towards their relationship.

I've accepted I'm never going to have thrill seeking hobbies like rock climbing or bungee jumping, but I have just bought myself some beautiful roller blades and am aiming to get a paddle board before summer hits. Anything is a hobby if you enjoy doing it.

The use of the word 'fighting' makes it seem like the other person was an equal participant too. I reckon someone looked at his the 'wrong way' and he smashed a glass over their head. I'll reword his sentence, "I served prison time for assaulting an unsuspecting victim because I have a veneer thin ego".

I fell into this trap also, and it's utterly self destructive to detach feeling from intercourse. Allowing someone to see (and touch) you in your most vulnerable state, then pretend you don't care about it is very damaging.

Just for a bit of context, my friend has been wading through the squalor that is OLD recently, and sent me this awful screengrab this morning. Reason #666 why I won't be pursuing any gremlin that tries to dictate rules about my autonomy. Bleughhh.

Oh my god, I came across a letter I wrote to my ex today (thank god I never gave it to him) like the pickmeisha I was back then, I APOLOGISED for his lack of affection, effort and input to the relationship and wrote in a sympathetic (emphasis on the pathetic) tone throughout...even though I was the one that was upset. Big yikes.

I used to live with my ex in his parent's house (more fool me) and his mum would cook for him every day, or ask me if I was going to cook for him...no ma'am.

My ex 'jokingly' called me scum so much in one day that I ended up crying. He never used it again, but who even thinks to call someone that repeatedly as a 'joke'? Especially someone you're meant to love.

My ex used to get so transfixed on little things I did, like it was a personal affront to him, i.e having honey in my herbal tea, eating with my cutlery 'the wrong way round'. He used to bring up these things in front of his family and friends like I was sOoO weird, when it was literally JUST a preference of mine and really wasn't that deep. His long rants on music were eye-roll worthy too.

I dated a guy for years who was not affectionate AT ALL and it made me feel so worthless. I had to ask for hugs, kisses, hand holding, y'know...basic stuff. If I tried stroking his arms in the hope he might reciprocate, he'd say, "Stop, that's annoying" in the end, he felt more like a platonic friend than a boyfriend. Now I stroke my own face when I'm tucked up in bed, I partake in self care, bought an automatic back massager, take time to moisturise my whole body and face every day and ask for …

While you may not be able to stand up for yourself explicitly (like me) do so through your actions. Block, delete, don't explain yourself for the 1000th time.

This sounds like something I could have written, give or take a few details, nothing is worth compromising your happiness and sanity for. You should never have to beg someone to see you, and want to move forward together.

My god, I needed to hear that. I work 40 hours a week but my job doesn't like to count the commute there or back as additional contribution.

The worst part was is that it was the build up to having sex, and I just felt icky. I bet if I sidled up to him and started pissing then it would have been cause for a fall out. That scene gave me flashbacks.

My stalker from years ago moved on to another woman whom I feel very sorry for, but this time convinced her to marry him with a Haribo ring. Nah sis.

My pet peeve is being contorted into all sorts of different shapes during sex. Which causes cramp, discomfort and my body to be rolled up like a croissant in the most unflattering way.

I'm so embarrassed to say, but the last time I saw my ex before we broke up (got a hotel for the weekend that he took 6 weeks to pay me back for) he peed on the floor of the shower while I was in their with him. I was so uncomfortable I partially laughed but then started freaking out cause it was gross. He was laughing maniacally the whole time, and as much as I tried to avoid it, it got on my feet. I should have gotten out the shower then and there.

I'm not sure if this is a British thing but when talking about sleeping with someone you know from/at work, we say, "Don't s**t where you eat" but I think I prefer your turn of phrase.

One thing I have found that helps is treating myself! As much as the budget allows, but I always buy little thoughtful gifts for others. But getting yourself something lovely (maybe putting a motivational note with it?) makes me personally feel uplifted. Also practice saying nice things out loud to yourself like, "Oh girl, you're hair is looking fabulous today" or things to that effect. I especially do it when I'm drunk haha.

You're not the only one that thinks this. It was one of the driving forces behind my recent breakup (that, and the fact he moved to Germany without feeling the need to discuss it first) whenever we 'talked' I couldn't actually tell him about my day, cause he'd zone out. It's just blatant disrespect, especially considering I used to listen to his rants about every.little.thing.

When I used to get upset or offended by something my ex did, the LAST thing I wanted to do was sleep with him. That resentment built insidiously until I realised, "I don't have to do anything I don't want to...including sex" I was only with him for three years, but I can imagine the seed of anger grows pretty deep in 30. Oh, he's being an insensitive dick again? Show him that everything is all mended by allowing him to thrust in you for 10 minutes. Nah, sis.

I went there in 2014, but clearly forgot to take on board what I had seen and read, as I got trampled on by relationships for the next several years following.

My ex thought taking me as a passenger to places he was already going was a love language. Not reassurance, compliments, gifts, physical touch...just carpooling.
