Yah, I agree. And the part about Lizzo, you clearly don't know her enough to be having such strong opinions. She's a singer who empowers all women to turn against patriarchal standards of beauty and to love themselves. (A quick Google search maybe?) You completely disregarding hers, and any other fat woman's, achievements and impact just because they're fat is exactly what this patriarchal society wants. Someone else's weight is not your concern, especially if they're tryna undo the damage these…

I didn't even think of it like that (like another tactic the world uses to make black women think we deserve less, and that enduring rubbish is somehow positive/strength), pushing the narrative of a strong black woman. So thanks for commenting that. I'm gonna delete the post because it feeds into that narrative and needs to be eradicated. Have a great day/night ❤ (Tried to chat to you, but will just reply instead)

I think it's either a troll, or from those days when people used to overshare on Facebook, because I know some women who have endured a lot so her story doesn't seem too impossible

I really really hope this is a joke, but I also know this is some women's reality. Also not sure of the appropriate flare for this

That's fair as well. Yah when I read the 4 months thing I was shocked. It's much longer here in the UK. The concerning part is he’s not asking advice about how to cope with this newfound stress Yah that's true. I guess it shows what he wanted from that post. I think ranting is very therapeutic and that may be the only space he has to rant about how he's being affected. But I'm just speculating as we don't know the full context. I just think his response is very human. It's very average human.

I get where he's coming from. Being in the health field, I know first hand that carers are often neglected and the pressure on them is too much, especially when they're new to the caring responsibilities. Their needs are often put in the backseat, and they're under scrutiny from a lit of directions. I think his reaction is very normal: reminiscent, tired, overwhelmed. And it sounds like he's doing his part by working more, taking care of the house, and supporting her. I don't think he's ignoring…

People who say stuff like that are projecting. You're the best he can get, and he knows this, so he tries to manipulate you into staying. You sound amazing and you're the shit and you deserve so much more than his crap!! I'm excited for what the future holds for you 💕

Honestly, my mum is my inspiration. We talk about how much she's accomplished. Her story goes on and on, and she has stayed humble and focused while succeeding against all odds. My siblings and I have witnessed her struggles and I think we all just strive to make her proud and not be a burden to her. We had to be super independent!! I started waking myself up in the mornings, cooking, cleaning, and walking myself to school from the age of 10. And I really appreciated this when I got to uni and I…

Ohhhh that's funny!!! I think I even meant the penny dropped. I thought the apple dropped meant a realisation. Like the apple dropped on Newton's head and he realised gravity was a thing. I was having that realisation from your points Ahhhh the joys of the Internet 😂

It shocks me how many men actually buy into the notion that women are only there for their pleasure and servitude. Like we should be thrilled to serve them in anyway

Oh I wasn't trying to insult you. I thought you were explaining that the reason my mum wasn't a slave is because wives tend to be slaves to their husbands. And since she's a single mum, she wasn't a slave to a husband, so that's why I never saw her as a slave. I don't know how you interpreted my message for it to offend you, but hopefully my explanation explains the offence away

I just can't relate. My mum is a single mum of 4 kids and a doctor, so she was definitely not our slave. So I can't imagine how much these men have been doted on and babied their whole lives to expect this behaviour from their wives.

I hear you. It was in talking to him that I realised how much older he was. I dunno. I guess I'm stuck between men my age that are immature/unserious, and older men that are lowkey tryna groom me. A rock and a hard place. Unfortunately I can't think of any alternatives since most 22 year old men aren't much better. You and me both sis. I've heard people tell me to wait so the boys my age can catch up, but I'm like "Why?". So don't really know what's next/what's best

I keep hearing OLD. What exactly is it? Edit: OMMGG I'm so out of touch. I tried googling OLD dating app, thinking it was another site (I was wondering why people didn't understand that the chat was on Hinge not OLD) ONLINE DATING. IT MEANS ONLINE DATING.

I'm also irked by this ultimatum. Ew. Just ew. So many gross layers to unpack here

This is really helpful, thanks for sharing!! I think it's so important!! Thinking too far ahead just creates emotional bonds that aren't there and make people tolerate more crap. It's crazy that this emotional manipulation is so normalised. He'll be stroking your arm with his left hand while he talks about your future babies, yet his right hand is swiping on Tinder.

Creepiest thought for me: that he sent that thinking it would get him closer to me, like I would be pleased to receive that message "Oh yessss, let me show her how I'll leave her emotionally, physically, and mentally drained while leaving her unsatisfied. She clearly wants to baby a grown man 😍"

And in searching for this, I wonder if they ever consider what they have to offer. They're looking for a woman to be their sex partner, mother, baby factory, and cleaner. But what do they offer? At no point have I wanted a man to be my dad (ew 🤢) so why are they so keen on fucking their mum's?

The key word being grooming. After matching and talking, I actually realised he's too old for me. Like he seems very traditional and ready for marriage, and I'm tryna live my best hot girl Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. The age gap is too big. The stage gap is too big. So what does he want from me? What's possessing him to pursue me? He wants to groom me

Omg this is my second greatest fear. And my third is being given an unlimited credit card that I never have to pay off. Scared to think how I would use that 😧

And it's a wild joke to make. Even the fact that he's making it an ultimatum. "I won't stress you out if you're good to me". Old me would've found it cute, like "awww he's already thinking about our kids". New, empowered, woke me is disgusted and appalled.

Wow. So this is fucked up. No other to describe this. I'm sorry that this happened to you, and that she treated your boundaries like some sick test to make you feel honoured. How messed up. I hope she's as far away from you as humanly possible. The reddest of flags. Wow. Thanks for sharing. I hope you're okay. This guy won't get close to testing my boundaries because of FDS. As soon as he sent that, my hackles raised and my brain cancelled him.

good mom to us all I'm not tryna be your mother Background: I told him my worst nightmare is being stuck in a dead-end desk job, then coming home to 10 kids and a useless husband The age gap already had me feeling strange, since we're at different stages in life, and some of his messages suggested he was traditional, but this takes the cake.

Ewwwww and brushing your teeth is even such a selfish thing. Like do you want everything you taste to be horrible? That's enough reason for people to brush for themselves, yet they don't 🤢

These are just a handful of the replies she got. She got so many, and they're all disgusting. The depravity. The audacity. A lot of it screams fragile masculinity and/or men who were babied by their parents so they have no survival skills.

But there's the other side of this as well. I had a white man on Snapchat and it seemed like all his friends were black, and he posted anything to do with black culture. He added me, a black woman, to a private story on Snapchat where he would repeatedly post pictures of black women in sexual positions. Really gross, vulgar images. He never posted any other race that way, and he never posted black women in any other way. After having enough, I confronted him about it and he avidly defended his "…

I'm a single black woman who ended a relationship with a white man. I was the only non-white person in his close circle. Never again 😕 Now, if you're white and all your friends are white, that's an automatic "No", respectfully. I don't have the time or energy for microaggression, or to be some trophy from your past. No ma'am

I'm so sorry that you've had to experience those things. Thank you for sharing ((hugs)). We’re not human to them, which is why it’s so easy for them to stand around and watch a woman get murdered Our value is what we can give them, and how much they can control us. Once this runs out, it's open season 😞 So we fight by improving ourselves and succeeding and standing tall, and make things better. I like that, thank you. I think that's so interesting. Like, the idea that accepting the world as it is and wishing for a better one are not mutually exclusive. That's a mindset I haven't really considered, but I can imagine that it's quite useful and protective. I'm going to think about this, it has blown my mind a little bit. Part of me feels like accepting the societies around the world as they are means accepting the behaviours in them that fill me with rage and despair. But I guess it doesn't have to mean that. It…

This is. There are no words for what this is. Finally, one of the men walked forward and shut the door to the front of the building This is just. I can't. Like I can't. That's terrifying and so inhumane. How can theit only action be to observe and then remove themselves from the situation after they had been gratified in whatever way. How? How could they do nothing? Tell me how. I’m angry and heartbroken for BIPOC and for women and, especially, for WOC. I'm convinced they push a narrative that r…

He had no guilt, no fear. He took a moment to rest. Those aren't the actions of a person who has just brutally murdered his wife in Broad daylight. The world is a scary place with monsters lurking within human skin

This is it. A lot of the "good men" don't realise the power of allyship and calling out their friends. Their silence is compliance. And those are the cases where the criminal actually gets charged. I've had to stop looking at rape and assault cases that are acquitted over ridiculous things. That's really scary!! Almost like an incentive to assault than steal a car because you'll get less time

I hear that. It gets over saturating at times, all this brutality. I had to do that BLM during 2020. Every social media page and every news channel was just bombarding. There's a bit of guilt that comes when I dissociate, but I agree with you, it's worth it. It's funny that "not all..." is only valid when it comes to men. They generalise religion, ethnicity, and even dog breed based on less evidence.

I love this. I can't describe the positive feelings I got from this. I've never considered this and I don't know why. Channeling all this anger and passion and sadness, and pushing it towards something good. I'm gonna look into volunteering and donating money. Thank you so much

I need to be sane and whole enough to protect other women in the future I love that so much. It made me think of my nieces and how I just want the world to be safer for them. I don't want them to have the same realisations that I was forced to have about what it means to be a woman in this world. I guess an important thing then, as a woman, is to be self-sufficient so that we can afford to cut people off without detrimenting our safety and survival. I'm sorry that you've had to experience these …

She was 26, he was 40, and they had just recently married. I'm not sure if I mentioned that. It hurts that she had so much life left to live. And that it was by her husband. Where are all the people who like to force women to get married? Where are they now? Honestly. Even the way they describe violence against women, as if there's an invisible force responsible. "X-number of women were assaulted/murdered this month alone"...okay but who are commiting the crimes and what are you going to do abou…

Honestly, no words can describe what happened to her. A new article stated that a case of murder has been registered at the local police station. I don't really understand what this means, but I'm glad murder is being used. The level of victim blaming is so high that it's usually the thing that people think of when they hear of cases like this. I worry about this as well. We have seen a rape case acquitted because of the underwear the girl was wearing. We need to move into that Rick and Morty ep…

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it This is why I'm happy I've found this community. I've always had the seeds of female empowerment inside me even as a child, but as you grow up it feels like the world is against women having standards. Every standard is too high if it's a woman asking for it. But it's been nice to find FDS and to be reminded that the least we owe ourselves is to surround ourselves by people who deserve to be around us. I hope FDS and similar communities can r…

It's about men wanting another way to have power over women. If it was just about power, more women would do it too, because women aren't afraid of power, and men are afraid of powerful women.
