For me I got to put things out that I wasn't allowed to in the past. I have an office with instruments on the walls. And a living room with records framed and mounted on the wall along with antique tube radios. I also moved into a new area to start a new life (but it is only 25 minutes away so I can still see my son)

When i first split up with my wife i started bartending simply to hang out and talk to others. It wasn't about money for me, but about meeting others. It was fun and I would go this route again. Money wasn't horrible and it was fun. I initially did it one weekend day every other weekend I didn't have my son.

So while marry I fostered and ended up adopting a child that we fostered. Custody upon divorce with adoption is exactly the same as bio kids. I still foster and will probably adopt soon. She doesn't (not a big surprise.) Being a single father is a challenge and you need to find supports. I wouldn't change it for the world though.
