Wow old schooler. I didn't realize I was speaking to a veteran! I'll show more respect in the future. If the magazine name is so sacred, then go for it! I oppose the name on the exact grounds that I don't appreciate the association with an philosophy that I disagree with. You can make it about whatever you want, but you seem pretty hellbent on the name being important. So who am I to disagree?

Its probably important that the most vocal, most influential, and ones in power are also the ones with the extremist viewpoints, whereas that is not true for the MRM.

The more concerning thing is your willingness to be controlled by fear of social disapproval from your rivals. Are you really convinced that the only way I could possibly disagree with you is because of some inherent problem with my thinking? You are coming off like the TERFs that rabidly claim any feminist that doesn't hold extreme ideological views isn't a 'true' feminist. Its . . . a bit extreme. Now, I could go on about how I've watched the movement grow precisely because of cross pollinatio…

There are two, completely separate issues here, one of which is important, and the other which is not so important but you seem incredibly focused on. First, the Men's Rights Movement attracts many different people, many with very different philosophies and world views. Thats because it is glaringly obvious that there are legal and social impediments put in place that disenfranchise men in today's society. These problems are what unites us here. However, beyond that, there is a huge rift between…

Women also are less likely to enjoy the free room and board of being incarcerated. We really need to reform this injustice of giving so many benefits to men! More women should have to opportunity to go to prison. This "iron ceiling" is keeping us from reaching true equality.

Why would they? They do (currently) have a monopoly on gendered discussion, and they will fight tooth and claw to retain that.

Yet another idiot who knows nothing of TRP and wants to insult it to pander to political correctness. Of course, the only way I could dislike TRP is because I don't know about it! Just like feminism, its because I'm ignorant that I don't like it! I mean, it couldn't possibly be that I dont agree with it, and don't appreciate it being used to represent and take over a movement that I do agree with, namely Men's Rights. Thats just not possible, right? The problem is with me and my ignorance. Thank…

Thanks for the adhominem. I can add another notch to my "idiots who can't argue constructively" stick now. I get what hes trying to do. And if hes doing that under the Red Pill banner, I'm not interested. Post in TRP, or name it something that doesn't have the exact negative connotation Men's Rights tries to distance itself from. But don't piss on my head and try and tell me its rain.

Are they not respected authors for the Red Pill community? I get that there is a great deal of overlap between the two communities, but there is also a great deal of differences, and a lot of people wishing to distance themselves from what they consider as negative. Anyone who was interested in a magazine titled "Red Pill Magazine" would probably be subscribed to the redpill sub already. This feels like territory creep.

What are the facts that make Judge Kathleen McCarthy think this is being misrepresented? I'd be curious to see what she thinks is a justifiable reason to lump responsibility on someone who provably is not responsible for something. But I guess I'm not a judge with a fancy law degree. My list goes something like: Domestic violence Parental rights Reproductive rights Work safety Rape laws Homelessness Mental illness Unfair courts / police violence Health issues conscription I'd also add general anti-feminism (fighting the conflation of men-as-monsters and women-as-victims) to my list, I just don't know it would be best worded.

When women enter the male realm whether law, politics, or a construction site, they find themselves in a repugnant world in which their only means of survival is by undergoing a fundamental transformation leaving them with little opportunity to make any change. We see this manifested in descriptions of women professionals as harsher than men. Assertive women are seen as aggressive bitches. Is this literally a rebranding of the old anti-feminist argument of women not being fit for difficult work?…

Can men be objectified? Of course they can! But it doesn't really count, because reasons. Also, patriarchy and systemic privilege. And thus ends our very informative and useful lesson in feminism theory. FTFY

What kind of idiocy is this: '34 per cent of 16 to 19 years old believed a victim's drunkenness made them "completely", "mostly" or "a little" responsible for the assault and Put another way, this means over a third of British youths aged between 16 and 19 think that it's 'a little', 'mostly' or 'completely' okay to rape someone if they're intoxicated Thats only true if by "putting it another way", you mean completely changing the meaning. Because women have a monopoly on gender issues and studies, thanks mostly to feminism. Male voices are not seen as valuable. Therefore, when a woman speaks up about gendered issues, her voice is seen as more valuable. Especially when she is speaking up about Men's Rights, its more difficult to paint her as a misogynist. Its a sad state of affairs.

Obviously it is. You can't avoid selection bias when you have a group of people coming together and sharing things relevant to the group; you are already selecting for topics that people think will be interesting to others. If you read the sidebar, you would see why comparisons between the MRM and feminism are not apt.

What question am I dancing around? You really don't see it? I can keep pointing it out to you, but if you are incapable of admitting that if this happened to feminists that this would be labeled as persecution, then I won't waste my time. That's your defense? The protesters were in the moral right because they were protesting against people you find icky? Mental anguish? Seriously? A child should die unnecessarily out of consideration for the feelings of an adult who participated in its creation? If you don't think that people should be forced to donate, ie that they have right to refuse, then this emotional argument holds no weight. People have the right to refuse organ donation requests from relatives. It shouldn't matter that they exercise that right in advance; it is their right. I don't see anything unethical about someone stating legally "I will refuse any request for organs, so don't even bother, since it would not only violate my right to privacy, but additionally would cause me undue mental anguish". In fact, I find it incredibly unethical that someone would violate that person's wishes, stated in a legally binding …
/r/MensRights09/02/15 07:11 PM

Why is there an ethical imperative to provide for organs, blood, or anything? Someone who donates sperm and checks "dont contact me about anything" should not be contacted for any reason. Kids gonna die without a lung? Tough shit, people die all the time for the exact same reason. How is there anything different when dealing with a stranger? Just because you know "out there" someone is a match? So what?

I seriously doubt there is anything being done specifically by google to manipulate results. If other people are doing SEO tactics in order to raise their ranking, thats highly possible. The best thing to do is to either talk to the people running the good sites, and see if they are doing anything for SEO, as well as to backlink to those good sites as much as possible.

Official figures show that, between 2002 and 2012, 6.1% of adults who were convicted of murder were women, leaving 93.9% men. Not to stir the pot, but convictions, even for the same crime, skew heavily against men. Conviction rates don't really tell the whole story.
/r/MensRights08/02/15 02:50 AM

As long as you think that neither men nor women should be allowed to opt out of a situation where they get pregnant, then I'm fine with that. You are remaining logically consistent and I can respect where you are coming from. I was under the impression that you thought that women should be allowed to opt out of a pregnancy, but that men should not be able to. Thats my mistake.
/r/MensRights07/02/15 06:58 AM
1

Clear me up on what this has to do with Men's Rights, I'm not seeing the problem here.
/r/MensRights07/02/15 06:54 AM
1

You think thats the only possible solution to this problem? Is forcing women to have abortions? How about a man doesn't have to pay for a kid that he had no part in the decision making process of having? Again, I can understand if you are against both women and men having reproductive freedom. Its a logically consistent and fair position to hold. But to hold that women should have reproductive freedom, and men should not? Why are you even in this sub?
/r/MensRights07/02/15 06:51 AM
1

Men have no reproductive rights. When we have sex, if our partner gets pregnant, than we are responsible for whatever they decide. If they choose to have a child, we are financially responsible for their decision. It does not matter how much we don't want a child, how much we prepare before hand (wearing condoms, using spermicide, even getting a vasectomy) - if our partner gets pregnant, we are beholden to their choice. We have no rights whatsoever. Again, you won't state what position you hold,…
/r/MensRights07/02/15 06:16 AM
1

If you oppose reproductive rights and think that sex should be consent to reproduce for all people, then I don't mind that position. It is logically consistent and fair. If you think that a woman should have reproductive and sexual freedom, but a man should not . . . first, I ask what you are doing in this sub. Second, I ask . . . why? How can you justify that position?
/r/MensRights07/02/15 06:05 AM
1

Are we really going to argue this? Do you really think that a man should have to become temporarily infertile to control his own reproduction? You really think that any man that has sex should be locked into not only reproduction, but the associated costs that come along with having a child? What does fairness have to do with it, or biology? We are fully able to control whether a woman gets pregnant, also fully able to control whether a man is beholden to paying and supporting a child. What does…
/r/MensRights07/02/15 05:44 AM
1

Then I respect your position. But you can't disagree that the current legal situation is completely unfair giving women reproductive freedom but giving none to men, and I hope you seek to remove the disparity.
/r/MensRights07/02/15 05:38 AM
0

So you think that sex is consent to procreate. You must fight against a woman's right to choose as well?
/r/MensRights07/02/15 05:28 AM

/r/MensRights06/02/15 11:55 PM

While I agree with everything you are saying, I want to add. Anyone who is for a women's right to choose is against the idea of sex being consent to procreate. Women are free to have sex without consequences, why are men legally not able to?

This is a place for Men's Rights. The sidebar should help explain what the goal of the sub is. Claiming "egalitarian" is such a bait-and-switch - on the surface, no reasonable person disagrees with egalitarianism, but then its used to refocus the sub away from its primary purpose, that is, Men's Rights. This comes off as concern trolling / tone policing at worst.
/r/MensRights06/02/15 07:20 PM
3

The debate may seem like an unlikely one in Sweden, a country famous for gender equality and tolerance as well as low crime levels. No, it makes perfect sense. When you base your social policy on men being monsters, it makes people act . . . as if men are monsters. Shocking!
/r/MensRights06/02/15 06:55 PM
1

Agree to disagree :) You think divisiveness is inherently a bad thing that should be avoided at all cost, I think it isn't, and more importantly, that in this circumstances is not only acceptable, but desirable for keeping the focus of the movement on the actual movement. Again, you are self-proclaimed egalitarian. If you prefer to chase both feminist and men's rights goals, why not work within a movement that does that? Why try and change men's rights to fit your viewpoint?
/r/MensRights05/02/15 11:20 PM
1

Not sure what you are loling about. If your hang up is that MensRights doesn't do enough to include women, then maybe you should work with a different movement. You are coming off as a concern troll and tone police. Also, feminism isn't bad because its divisive. Feminism is bad for a whole host of other reasons. Division isn't a problem inherently - division of labor is what allows modern society to function.
/r/MensRights05/02/15 09:39 PM

I think you have a bit of a softer understanding of what we are fighting for here. Unlike feminism, we have issues that are more than social-expectations "i shouldn't be looked at by icky men" or "i shouldn't have to hold open the door". On the scale of 1-10 of human rights, those are near the bottom of criticalness. Thats all that feminism in the west has left to fight for, because they've won every legal protection they lacked before. They can keep focusing effort towards those sorts of issues…
/r/MensRights05/02/15 07:47 PM
2

Again, there are infinite special interest groups that exist. We don't focus on animal rights, either. Why? Because we have limited energy and time; not spending that on the issues that we are actually interested in merely to give a token nod to other groups is disingenuous and wasteful of limited resources. I see nothing wrong with letting them focus on their issues, and letting us focus on ours. Division of labor is what has made humanity stronger than just the sum of its parts.
/r/MensRights05/02/15 07:43 PM
2

The problem isn't that feminism doesn't bother to deal with men's issues . . . the problem is that feminism claims it is for both men and women while refusing to deal with men's issues. They demand a monopoly on gender politics, while pushing a specific agenda that doesn't include the people they claim to be helping. Men's Rights has no such issue. We aren't claiming that MensRights will solve every problem in society. We have a specific, concrete set of problems, and are focusing efforts on tho…

Thats great in theory. In practice? The predominant voice is already feminism. Everyone gets to hear day in and day out about how women have issues. Not only is it unnecessary for us to repeat that, but it also dilutes the Men's Rights message and gives even more thought-energy toward women, rather than towards men. There are near infinite special rights groups. Animal rights, sex worker rights, gender rights. As long as we don't claim to be "for women too", then let us focus on what we are tryi…

You are an obvious troll, but in case you aren't, 2 points. A) Men are missing many rights. Reproductive rights, parental rights, rights as victims of gendered crime, rights to due process. If you don't see it / havent been affected by it, then count yourself blessedly ignorant. B) There is no problem with "equal pay", or institutionalized sexism. Those aren't real issues. Go ahead and check out the research, women are currently actually making more money than men when accounting for all variabl…

Can't disagree with anything you say there. Seeking counseling seems like it has a great social stigma, like admitting to weakness. Why, exactly, I'm not sure of; its not like we consider going to the doctor as admitting you are too weak to self heal, so why not for sicknesses of a social or mental nature? I would assume that the kind of people following and pushing for Men's Rights would be more forward thinking than to buy into that mindset. There is a lot to be gained from removing any social…

You are paying them. As long as you keep paying them, there should be no reason for them to stop wanting you to come in, other than A) them giving up on your case or B) you putting them through the ringer to the point that no longer want to see you. They are trained in dealing with patients that are not responsive, it can take months or years to get through an issue.
/r/MensRights17/01/15 06:38 AM

I don't know if this factors into what you are saying, but counselor's all have their own style, some targeted at different types of clients. The relationship counselor we went to advertised himself specifically as dealing with men's problems, and had over 30 years specifically helping men with their relationships either as a couple or as an individual. Its always important to "shop around" while choosing a counselor or therapist, just like any working relationship.
/r/MensRights17/01/15 06:21 AM

The counselor's job is to deal with irrational, irate, and psychological fragile people. For them to say something like "I can't do anything else to help you", ie, "please don't see me any more", is what I would say is them giving up.

Start doing new things. Make new friends. Start working out. Demonstrate your status. Ask for a promotion at work or change your job. I also think this is true no matter what your current relationship status is. Developing as a person is always a good thing, and will make your life more fulfilling to you and to those around you.

It was treated as her problem, AND as my problem. I was in a relationship with her, and it is my job to work with her, just as its her job to understand my obsession with collecting tools I hardly ever seem to use. We are all fractured, imperfect people, and the ones you keep close to you you help to become more whole. At least, thats the way I see it, I'm obviously not an expert on the subject.

I have been to relationship counseling with my (now) wife. It worked marvels in helping her deal with her anger issues. I now suggest relationship counseling to everyone I know. If your problem is with who you married, then counseling isn't going to fix that. But if the problem is anything other than that, I think it can do wonders where people are unable to fix things themselves.

My wife shared this with me earlier today. My reaction? I can't believe this is actually real. What about: The MRM doesn't say that women can't compete with men in math and science. The MRM says plenty of women become scientists and are doing well enough at it without needing help. Do you really think the court would give a wet fart on a dry day about a legal document Yes, there is a legal option for men (with the mother's acceptance) to abandon their responsibility. Why does the implicit agreement to procreate not apply to women? Not only can they have abortions, they are free to abandon their children. Why is the freedom to choose when you have children not given to men? Sex is no longer tied to procreation in modern society. Whether thats a good thing or not, it doesn't matter - sex is no longer an implicit agreement to procreate. Men should not be held to a standard that women have been freed from.

What does this have to do with Men's Rights?
/r/MensRights02/10/14 10:34 PM

Absolutely. Its the deviation as dictated by feminism, deviating only on those parts which they don't like and keeping the parts that the benefit from.

Pretty standard traditionalism, christianity has very similar teachings, as do most traditional cultures. Feminism is only for abolishing those aspects of traditionalism that affect them negatively; they arent interested in getting rid of the positive effects of traditionalism, nor the effects of traditionalism that affect other people. They they strawman traditional viewpoints as what Men's Rights is trying to uphold.

Agreed, he should be forced to pay damages ($600-$1000) and then she decided if she wants a kid. Bam. Wheres my honorary judge outfit?

Heres some sources on kickback incentives the state gets for awarding child support. Take with a grain of salt and use your own judgement. https://www.scribd.com/doc/630611/A-Quick-Summary-of-Title-IV-D-Funding-and-Incentives http://www.achildsright.typepad.com/achildsright/titleivd.html http://www.ncsl.org/research/human-services/child-support-adminstration.aspx#Federal_Role http://www.answerisland.com/child-support-kickbacks.html

From what was linked, I don't see any of that. There might be more history that isnt coming in.

Hes "fighting" women in martial arts competitions. As long as they have mixed sex events, do you expect him to just lay down and lose? What does this have to do with Men's Rights?

What about for nonwelfare parents? I might be mistaken, but what about incentive programs funded by the federal government? Are you saying the state isn't incentivized to award as much child support as possible? EDIT - reading comprehension

The state gets 10% of all child custody. Its in their best interest to award as much of it as possible, regardless of how ridiculous it is.

It costs all of what . . . a buck fiddy to get an abortion? How about he buys her a coffee and they can call it even?

One of the commenters said: In a similar case, about a year ago with reversed roles (he was poking holes in the condoms) the dude was charged with rape. Anybody else seeing the double standard here? Does anyone have a link to that story?

At least they are trying. This sort of stuff needs more exposure, lets not bury it in criticism.

I might have laughed if I wasn't such a beer snob - bitters are basically not bitter at all, they are the less-bitter version of Pale Ales.

Hahahaha. The author is harping on the socialized problem of fear of sex? After supporting legislation that makes every sexual encounter a potential landmine of legal problems? Way to try and have your cake and eat it to - when you make laws criminalizing sex, guess what, people are going to be fearful of sex. Amazing!

From what I could research "statutory rape" and "carnal knowledge of a juvenile" are the same crime in many jurisdictions. Obviously, I am not a lawyer, and my knowledge of the law doesn't go past just googling, but thats what I could find.

The news article actually seems pretty well written, as does the reaction from the people in charge, namely calling it out as reprehensible and completely unacceptable. The reaction from idiots on the internet? Well, yah, do we really want to try and police that 0_o

Is there a legal difference between "child rape" and "carnal knowledge of a juvenile"? Asking because I am legitimately curious.

The smugness I could do without, but isn't this pretty much common sense? Having clearly defined roles and treating household management as a priority, rather than just "something to get done on the weekends", makes it less stressful for everyone involved. Instead, you stress about money, but perhaps thats a different topic. Her revelation may be new to her, but its nothing revolutionary - why do you think gendered roles evolved the way they did? Especially before the conveniences of microwaves,…

What about this is more Men's Rights than TRP?

Ah then it looks like we were talking about the same thing then. Its pretty sad that these activists have hijacked a term to describe a legitimate and systemic problem, and are using it to describe such feel-based problems as "I shouldn't have to protect myself don't tell me how to".

Its kinda funny, I know you are joking, but the perverse satisfaction of criminals being raped in jail as a form of "justice" is probably the closest thing we have to a real rape culture in our society.

Its possible she would be one of those people, no doubt. I imagine its even likely, given the fact that shes already the sort of person who uses electronic media to complain about social discomforts. But now we have a person who DOES understand the socialized fear of being "different" (god, is 50% of the population now considered different enough to fear?!) . I'd definitely say that God works in mysterious ways. As much as I might disagree with the details (perscribing strangers to introduce the…

I couldn't believe that one little girl that was acting as a mediator. Immediately asking the other girl to apologize when she poked the boy in the eye, trying to calm them both down, etc, I didn't think a child that young could show that much maturity and strength of character.

Character assassination is a pretty common tactic in court. I love his reaction, but what about this is pussypass?

I don't have a problem with people selling fake pregnency tests - free market and people are going to be terrible people. What I have a problem with is the system that gives something like this weight - namely, the custody and legal system that strips men of their autonomy and rights. Without that system, selling fake tests would be meaningless.
