I have a theory in life that most people have a very superficial understanding of academic things and how that applies to real life. I have a graduate degree related to my field of employment and there is such a giant gap of what should be done and what is actually done. Or between how a business says it operated and how it actually operates. People crack jokes about mandatory compliance training and how incredible stupid some of the harassment stuff is, for example. But the reason those questio…

When that stupid “man vs bear” thing came around I would challenge people with “would you rather run into a white man or a black man” which was (rightfully) called out as racist. But they don’t see the inherent sexism in specifying “man” instead of person. In fact now many people are using the analogy “would you rather have a random woman or random man babysit your kids” to prove that “everyone knows men are bad.” It really always comes down to a matter of agency - men are considered to have age…

Many years ago the NYT did an article about foreign influence campaigns creating division in America through fake Facebook pages. One of the examples was a feminist page designed to create extremism. So yes, 100% there is a problem with indoctrination and propaganda within “feminist” rhetoric online (like the bear vs man debate).

The neoliberal subreddit is full of idiots pretending to be smart people pretending to be idiots.

That’s just an extreme form of classical liberalism. Look at neoliberalism and people like Margarette thatcher or Ronald Reagan. They advocated for the removal of government (just you opposing authority).

When it comes to mental health issues men are simply treated as defective women. The blame is placed on them and not the issues around them.

Many (if not most) feminist will readily admit they believe in Marxism, socialist type policies, and the dismantling of capitalism. This is inherently anti-liberal. Of course I doubt many of them understand that or care about the distinction.

I think we agree with each other on most issues, there’s not really anything to reconcile. On the topic of feminism itself I don’t think feminism is going anywhere, so there’s not really that much to discuss there either. It’s not like either of us has the power to change anything at a high level, you know? So it doesn’t really matter. She works in education and we regularly discuss how boys and girls are treated both in the school system and by parents who have low expectations for their boys a…

Why not point out the equally serious problems men face, many of which are very much systemic? Eg. the draft, the education gap, violent crime, homelessness, sexist domestic abuse and rape laws, harsher criminal sentences, police brutality, male genital mutilation, workplace deaths, suicide etc. In online spaces you’re going to encounter people who want to argue just to argue. Make your case and don’t worry about pushback. You’re going to get it. But in my experience if you bring these things up…

it also tells women to reject even the positive aspects of "patriarchy" and heavily critiques women and feminists who basically wants to adopt positive aspects of patriarchy and still want to enforce gender roles on men. This was basically the argument I used with my wife when we discussed why I don’t agree with feminism way back when. We talked about how men are always expected to be the breadwinners in a family, it’s only women who get the benefit of choice when it comes to being a stay at hom…

It’s not a conspiracy theory at all. There’s a NYT article from right after the 2016 election about foreign influence campaigns designed to create division between people, and all of them targeted traditional leftist ideals like black rights, indigenous people rights, and most relevant here - feminism. Basically the pages were designed to create extremism. Which is exactly what you see happening in online spaces when leftists constantly criticize democrats for not being left enough.

I’m assuming they mean occupy Wall Street. And I believe the implication is that the gender wars are a psyop campaign meant to create division between liberals and leftists, giving more power to right wingers who favor the wealthy elite.

I’ve learned to ignore any “real man” comments because it’s always followed by some way that men are supposed to conform. You notice there’s never any “real women do xyz” discussion? Or if there is (generally related to trans discussion) it turns back to “but these women don’t do that thing, so that definition doesn’t fit.” Women get to be women just for turning a certain age and existing. Some people say a woman gets to be a woman for just saying she’s a woman. Men on the other hand have to ear…

But Emanuel does not see such promise in New York City’s mayor-elect, the Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, even though Mamdani’s campaign focussed relentlessly on affordability and, according to early exit polling, he won male voters between the ages of eighteen to twenty-nine by an astonishing forty points. This reminds me of the 2016 election democratic primaries. Bernie sanders was more popular with men than Clinton. But it couldn’t be because of his economic policies like universal healt…

Women love to weaponize masculinity against men. They readily call them virgins or incels as an insult, implying their inability to get a woman is a knock against them as a person. They’ll say a man has little dick energy. They’ll say a man has short man syndrome. Even someone like AOC, who I have no doubt calls herself a feminist, will weaponize masculinity to insult men she doesn’t like. And then when called out on it she tried to backtrack saying there’s nothing wrong with being short, or tha…

Women, and feminists, will openly call boys losers and blame their life circumstances on them (because male privilege or whatever). But not give them any kind of support or help because only girls deserve help. Then guys like Andrew Tate come along with the exact same message of “you’re a loser” but then tell them they know the secret to fixing it. She’s 12, she was definitely shaken up by some grown men following her in their car. You’re doing the exact same thing feminist do - you refuse to believe that other people have different lived experiences than you do. And you judge women based on how you’ve experienced life.

The passage pretty clearly blames women. I vaugely remember the church I went to as a kd used that Timothy 1 passage being used to support why the husband was the head of the household. but a total lack of understanding how soul sucking the job can actually be. Kind of along those lines, Reddit will openly talk about how much work sucks and they hate their job, but then openly mock the main characters of movies like the matrix, fight club, or American beauty for hating their jobs and being depressed. I forget where but in the New Testament, Paul blames Adam for original sin and makes no mention of Eve It’s the opposite. Eve is blamed for original sin. Feminism in its current form is a major cause of the “manosphere.” Go into any feminist space and see how they view problems men face. They’ll say it’s not their problem, it’s up to men to fix. Boys falling behind in school? Their fault, those boys should work harder. Can’t get a date? Don’t be a loser. Feeling lonely? Talk to other men and don’t expect women to shoulder your emotional burden. So now you have a guy like Andrew Tate come along and tell a boy he should work harder and not be a los…

Feminism is like a religion - people use it to maintain power for themselves. They use it to generate money. There’s always going to be some problem that has to be solved, and it’s really not in the interest of the people in charge or major feminist organizations to ever actually “solve” systemic problems that cause inequality.

It’s a motte and bailey argument. Female privilege does tend to stem from benevolent sexism. Society does tend to treat women like children who have no agency in life and need to be protected from the world. That argument is easy to defend. But feminism does nothing to address that or change it. Because it benefits women. That is hard to defend. So when you press them on the second part, they fall back to the first part.

There’s also the victim blaming, which you even see here with guys saying “victims are willing” or “men love it.” Feminists readily push that same narrative that men should know better. It’s their fault bad things happened to them.
/r/MensRights24/06/25 07:06 PM

And yet, where are the feminists fighting for equality here? Modern feminism isn’t about equality. It’s about power. It’s like a religion, people pretend to “believe” but they only believe just enough to fit in. Most don’t actually care about (or understand ) the underlying ideas of the cause they’re supporting. They just want to fit in.
/r/MensRights23/06/25 06:48 PM

The title (and the article) criticizes feminism. You can’t do that there, even if it’s meant to be constructive. The first paragraph: If you reversed the genders in over half the conversations happening in modern feminist circles today, people would be protesting oppression in the streets. We all know that’s true. But feminists (and thus men’s lib) don’t want to hear that.

Women in society are seen as having no agency. Anything bad that happens to them is because of outside forces that shape their lives. So when women do something bad, like be mean to other women, it has to be blamed on some outside force. In this case “the patriarchy” is a classic boogie man Men, on the other hand, do have agency in their lives. So when men are shitty, it’s because of their own personal shortcomings.

Look at their “who we serve” page. https://democrats.org/who-we-are/who-we-serve/ They explicitly mention women. But not men. It seems like such a stupid oversight to just flat out acknowledge that. It’s hard to advocate for men’s issues while also trying to appease women and feminist thought. Look at how dead the menslib subreddit is. What’s ironic is that even though women are one of the core targets of democrats, women are still willing to vote for someone like Trump because he at least pretends to care about men’s jobs and ability to support their wives and family.

Women have and do promote male gender roles just as much as men if not MORE. This right here. Women will readily conform to gender roles (and expect men to do so as well) when it suits them. If they want to be stay at home moms, feminism thinks they should have the choice. But men rarely get the same option. Men rarely get to make the choices women do. Women talk about “having it all.” Men don’t get that choice. They get the career. That’s it. If a man can’t support a family he’s not likely to h…

Incel means “involuntary celibate”. You’re using a man’s lack of ability to have sex or find a mate as a derogatory term. When I was younger “virgin” was the slur of choice women used against men they didn’t like. This is just a variation on that. I’m not a feminist, but that sure sounds like “toxic masculinity” to me. This is good rationale, but I’d throw a question in here: there is a second party that "knows" this person is incapacitated and "vulnerable". What if the other party is also drunk and unable to tell if someone is vulnerable? Is that a mitigating factor? And if it is not a mitigating factor, is the woman also responsible for having sex with a drunk man? Or does responsibility only go one way?

And when you look at violence/crimes against a gender it’s more than just that, because men are also committing those crimes against other men. We need to get to the issue of WHY people are committing those crimes, and if it is targeted attacks WHY they are the targets. Ok then let’s get back to your original train of thought. Which definition? Because when I look online I see this: the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. But you’re telling me that includes men’s rights, when clearly the definition focuses on women. I’d also argue the definition doesn’t matter as much as the policies of people who run major feminist organizations like NOW.

Why can’t men’s rights be part of feminism? And that’s the motte and Bailey argument i already mentioned. Because feminists will readily claim that they support equality for women and men but when it comes down to it, their resources go to supporting women. From my point of view they already are Men are more likely to experience violence than women, yet feminist organizations are dedicated to ending violence against women. Not both. “Feminism” is a meaningless term that means 100 different things to 100 different people. “Feminists” will readily call JK Rowling a TERF with no awareness that they’re calling her a feminist and that that’s a bad thing. The modern feminist movement is full of motte and bailey arguments as well as no-true Scotsman arguments (see the JK Rowling point above). Arguing whether feminism is bad or not is a complete waste of time. “Feminism” in men’s rights circles is like “the patriarchy” in feminist …

You will see all over Reddit people complaining about voters not voting for their own interests. LGBT and minorities voting for republicans, for instance. But the moment it comes to white males all of a sudden they’re supposed to vote for other people’s interests. Now they’re supposed to vote for women’s rights and lgbt rights, and not for the guy who appeals directly to them.

It makes me sad that you assume that an oppressed group would immediately return the same oppression. Go into the feminist subreddit and talk about how men commit suicide at higher rates than women. That they’re more likely to be homeless. That they’re less likely to finish high school, less likely to go to college, and less likely to finish college. Let us know how that goes and how much empathy the “oppressed group” has for the men who are not the in the top rungs of society.

Depends on what you mean by feminism. Yeah at this point feminism is a meaningless term that means 100 different things to 100 different people. Even feminists use the term TERF (trans exclusionary radical FEMINIST) as an insult. Try to nail down a feminist on what feminism is and isn’t will be met with “no true Scotsman”’rebuttals.

Or he may have "opted out" and let "Mother" take over-Mother, who was also shaped by patriarchy. I love how even if the father is absent, even if the mother is the head of the household, it’s still the fault of “patriarchy.” Mother, whose judgment was more severe than Dad's, her eyes soul-blind, her ears soul-deaf; or Mother, who in her essential hatred for men, sucked her son's life out. The Patriarchy benefits the women far more than the men Agreed. And this is something I’ve said to my wife - rarely will feminists try to “fix” the parts of society that benefit women. You don’t see them encouraging women to be plumbers or trash collectors. You don’t see them trying to ensure men have fair treatment in child custody cases despite complaining that women are seen as the default parent. I could go on, but I’m sure you know. The part of OPs statement I disagreed with was this: Men a…

Men make up 66% of parliament. I know it’s unpopular here to mention the word “patriarchy,” but the people in power tend to be men. That’s a fact. That doesn’t mean all men have power though. The men in power are more than happy to send other men off to die in wars. And I’m not saying women in power won’t do the same thing. But I’ll say it again, it’s silly to blame women exclusively for the problems men face.

A “gynocentric government” that’s run primarily by men. Certainly some men are the problem when it comes to men’s issues. Trying to blame all of societies issues on one group of people is silly and not productive.

Menslib attempts to talk about men’s issues under the umbrella of feminism. Because not kowtowing to feminism is seen as being hostile to women. But feminism is about women, even if they try to pretend it’s about equal rights for men too. A simple glance at the r/ askfeminists faq will confirm this.

Feminists will fall back to “well no one should get drafted, so we don’t support adding women to selective service.” And then call you an idiot for wanting equality. And then do literally nothing to stop men from being forced to sign up for selective service.

Society treats women as if they have no agency. No ability to make their own decisions, no ability to handle their own problems, and no ability to affect change in their own lives. Men on the other hand are seen as having agency. They’re expected to figure it out, solve problems, and deal with the consequences of those decisions. It’s the foundation of modern feminist thought, and the worst part is it just reinforces the problems women are facing in society.

I think the second situation is fair because that was the choice made by the family and by person who took time off of work for a child. He/she could have hired a nanny, or put the children in daycare. They could have told their spouse they wanted to split time more equitably. They could have simply chosen not to have children. But instead they chose to take time off of work to spend with the children. They got to enjoy the perks of taking time off, they got to spend more time with their kids wh…

Women have been poaching the best men for thousands of years, you're a fool if you believe this is something new caused by feminine primacy. that's the one thing you picked out?

I read the first article, and I think it's quite good. There really isn't any economical talk or discussion on how this trend has affected economies of the societies in which this phenomenon is happening except it did. The author mentions how single mothers end up "married to the taxpayer", creating a burden to everyone. It talked about how a lack of available men creates instability in marriages overall as women attempt to poach good men from stable marriages. It also says that disenfranchised …

I like the original New Rules of Lifting. Lots of good plans depending on your goals including strength, hypertrophy, and fat loss. And I believe it was written with the idea of helping the average person out who needed work in mobility and small stabilizer muscles.

'Forced conscription' is a redundant term. Conscription by definition means forced or compulsory. To take it a step further conscription tends to be a blanket program where everyone of a certain bracket, say 18 year old men for instance, is enlisted into the military. The US draft on the other hand only picks a certain number of people, in this case still men, to fill the ranks the military feels it needs. Not every man who turns 18 in the US is necessarily going to end up in the military under …

I'm not splitting hairs here I get what you're saying. I think people think you are splitting hairs and don't realize that conscription is the actual act of forcing people to join the military. The selective service, on the other hand, is an agency that maintains the names and contact information of young men in case the country decides to implement a conscription program.

As soon as the girl knew she had better options, she stopped caring about the guy's personality and left him. Briffault's law dude. It is what it is. Let's look at this guy's winning personality that she talked about in her blog post: You have to remind him how much you love him, constantly He will be a child forever. He makes mistakes, but he apologizes when he knows he messed up. He’s wrong. A lot. He will shower you with affection. His favorite days will consist of doing absolutely nothing… w…

http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/02/the-boys-at-the-back/ The study’s authors analyzed data from more than 5,800 students from kindergarten through fifth grade and found that boys across all racial groups and in all major subject areas received lower grades than their test scores would have predicted. The scholars attributed this “misalignment” to differences in “noncognitive skills”: attentiveness, persistence, eagerness to learn, the ability to sit still and work independently. As …

that reminds me of a post I saw yesterday in relationships: There are a lot of guys who have seen plenty of escorts in the past, but realized that they can pay less and get more from naïve girls on sugar dating websites. A lot of pretty hardcore manipulation goes on- these guys will push that they "don't want a hooker" because they are trying to make these girls feel good. They aren't looking for a hooker. They are trying to create a cheap hooker for themselves. Call it grooming. There's some pr…

Whenever you interview treat it as a joint interview - you're interviewing them to see if they're worth working for just as much as you're being interviewed for the position. Think of how you'd act trying to pick up a girl. If she's the only one doing the qualifying then you probably don't qualify. Ask questions about the position, the industry, the group. What kind of skills are the most necessary? Can you relate yourself to those skills? If you got hired, what would the first 90 days look like…

There's tons of stuff out there. Sales and negotiation literature especially will have a lot written on the topic. Here's something I found on another website on overcoming common negotiation tactics: (I don't think I can link to it) In the negotiation process, silence can be your strongest tool. If you don’t like what your counterpart has said, or if you’ve made an offer and you’re waiting for a response, just sit back and wait. Most people feel uncomfortable when conversation ceases, and they …

Yeah silence is huge in sales. Look at movies like Boiler Room or Wolf of Wall Street where sales culture is on display and you almost always see silence used at some point, usually to close out the sale.

This goes for so much more then just approaching. Negotiations, work place conversations, arguments with your LTR. There are so many times where you can shoot yourself in the foot by saying something stupid just because you're afraid of a little awkward silence. Let's say you're negotiating for a pay raise. You're offered a salary of $50k, but you ask for $55k in response. The other person sits there quietly for a minute. Just a minute, not a long time at all. But it feels like eternity. So you …

Why doesn't he quit? He can't. He has a mortgage. And car payments. And credit card debt. And he his kids have student loan debts to pay. And if he quits his job, he'll lose his health insurance which he needs to pay for the high-blood-pressure medication he needs. High blood pressure he got from working a job he hates for so many years. One of my old bosses said that everyone is an indentured servant with no time limit on their contract. Maybe you're over thinking it, but if it works you've made a step in the right direction. I definitely think there's something to be said for tone of voice as well. Does she normally take a bath at night? If not why would you in any way imply that you should not have run the dishwasher. I don't think "sorry but I'm not a mind reader" is a beta response, and its really not an apology for running the dishwasher. I really can't see how that would lead to a big fight with personal attacks unless you are both extremely bad at communication. On another note, how small is your water heater and/or how inefficient is your dishwasher that you can't run it and still d…

Her focus is on kids, not him. I would venture the guess that is his issue. yeah exactly. All of the comments are saying "he doesn't trust you", which is probably true. But based on what we have here, why should he trust her? I wouldn't say that puts him in the wrong, he probably just realizes that she only wants him for the children. My boyfriend compared to other guys I dated had the best clean up habits, and we never argued about chores or any of that stuff. Of all the things she could have said that she liked about her BF, that's what she went with. That's the hurdle. That's what she is using to define the guy she wants to spend the rest of her life with - he has good clean up habits and they don't argue about chores. This is the kind of marriage that is going to end up exactly like spreadsheet husband because there's no …

I loved the original thread, where everyone was telling him she was probably just really turned on by being around other men that were interested in her. That he should be thankful for her wanting to get on him at all and that he was being paranoid for no reason. No concern that this woman basically forced him to go bareback. No concern that she didn't want to take the morning after pill the next day. She was quite obviously trying to trap him into thinking he got her pregnant. Contrast that wit…

It's kind of interesting though, because a book is something you read to the child (at least early on). So a parent can ask the kid what they think about it and offer their own thoughts on the behavior of the characters in the book. Another book that comes to mind is "The Giving Tree." The book offers up two completely different messages depending on how you look at it. One is the story of the tree, who gives a young boy unconditional love and asks for nothing in return. The other is the story o…

Holy shit I hate "The Best Nest". I was reading it the other day and I asked my 3yo son what he thought of Mrs. Bird. "She's not very nice" was his reply. My wife laughs when I read it because I like to add commentary to the two bird's decisions. In particular after the bell is rung and Mrs. Bird flees she just gets out of town and doesn't let Mr. Bird know where she's going. How f'd up is that? Letting him fly around in a rain storm thinking she got eaten by a cat. Way to just leave the guy han…

Great article, and interesting comments as well. It's interesting to see how people view something like this and whether they agree or think men are just grown babies who demand too much attention. One women even went so far as to say she denied her husband sex because he wasn't "persistent enough", but was incredulous that he left her for another woman that was sexually interested in him.

Most prominently, "real women have curves". The funny thing is that it's women who throw that around too. I watched a video a few weeks ago talking about how women shame men, but it's nothing compared to the shaming that women save for each other. Saying they're too fat, too skinny, too slutty, too prudish. It's pretty amazing to me how much hate and anger is out there tbh.

I think your question is the premise of the post - feminsts claim to want a discussion regarding male violence, but they really only want to blame men for violence against women. They don't want to discuss that men are also much more likely to be the victims of violence (4 of the 6 people killed by Elliot Rodgers were men) and that men are much more likely to take their own lives despite their "privilege". As is the problem with many feminists, Ms. Decker feels men shouldn’t be having this conve…

Just want to second (or third) this thought. Focus on building yourself up and bringing your wife up with you. Resist the temptation to tear her down just to make yourself feel bigger, that's the wrong approach and will only lead to a downward spiral.

That quote is so perfect. I love that whole storyline of Jaime. You first think he's this horrible guy that killed the king. Then you start to hear the backstory and you realize you're wrong, even if he's still the guy that pushed a little kid out of a window.

I heard this gymnastics coach talking on a podcast a few weeks ago (Barbell Shrugged) that sounded really knowledgable on strength for gymnastics. He runs a website called [gymnastic bodies] (http://www.gymnasticbodies.com/) . Maybe there's something useful in there? It looks like they have an online program available. It's relatively expensive though.

What was the gymnastics class for? because there's a ton of different areas from tumbling/mat work (which I believe is primarily focused on women) to ring work or the pommel horse which I think is primarily male dominated.
