Rape victims to be allowed to give pre-recorded evidence to avoid the trauma of cross-examination after cases of victims killing themselves to avoid courtThe new procedure would see victims and vulnerable witnesses give evidence in a 'less intimidating' room in the court with judges deciding the length and nature of cross-examinations. There will still be a level of cross examination, although it's somewhat unclear. | /r/MensRights | 19/03/17 07:19 PM

Why are people attacked for supporting Men's Rights?Slightly offtopic, because procrastination I'm not even sure how the Urban Dictionary ranking works; the top rated one has 14224 upvotes & 8935 downvotes (cumulative 5289, 61% up) Whereas the first one that isn't calling MRAs whiny is rank #7 and has 6553 upvotes & 1181 down votes (cumulative 5372, 85% up) Even if you switch to the statistical algorithm offered by someone critiquing Urban Dictionary for apparently using a cumulative ranking system, you get ratings close to the above percentages.… | /r/MensRights | 11/09/15 12:46 PM
Is Jessica Valenti finally just losing the plot? The staff at the Guardian seem to think so.There's actually a reply marked as from a member of staff among the comments. It's a genuine pity, Jessica, that you aren't aware of the excellent and positive communities that exist here and elsewhere around topics that you care about very deeply. The Guardian's far from the only place that works hard to cultivate relationships with and between its readers, but that work only really pays off when writers consistently get involved - in their absence, of course, readers talk among themselves and … | /r/MensRights | 10/09/15 02:37 PM
Feds to Dole Out Over $200K to Study Why Wikipedia is SexistOne of the examples of Wikipedia’s “gender bias,” cited by The New York Times’ Noam Cohen, is that the episode synopses for Sex in the City aren’t nearly as long and detailed as those for The Sopranos. Sounds like money well spent. /s | /r/MensRights | 10/09/15 12:38 PM

These campaign posters have been popping up around Manchester, UK. Figured you lot would appreciate them!I think this is the only one I've seen close enough to read the message, so I can't really comment on the others, just their design is pretty distinctive from a distance/in passing. This one in particular, I walked past it with a friend and pointed it out, he really didn't get it's purpose. | /r/MensRights | 09/08/15 10:20 PM
These campaign posters have been popping up around Manchester, UK. Figured you lot would appreciate them!Seen alot of these around Sheffield last week, had previously seen a few a couple of months ago there to. | 1 | Price discrimination against men is fine. Against women, it’s sexism.Yes, the EU has lots of regulation around gender/racial discrimination afaik, treated the same as how it wouldn't be politically correct to adjust peoples insurance price based on their ethnicity. For once equality came out on mens side, must be the patriarchy /s. | /r/MensRights | 30/07/15 01:20 PM
Price discrimination against men is fine. Against women, it’s sexism.A new study finds that auto insurance providers discriminate against women, charging them higher rates if they are single or newly widowed. But about 3 years ago, the EU had to pass equality legislation because there were insurance companies charging women less than men. Snip, appears the article is simply saying how single/married people get different insurance prices, and people complain about this for women, but not for men. | /r/MensRights | 30/07/15 09:36 AM

One example that comes to mind is this recent huff po article ('Ukip's Paul Nuttall Branded 'Misogynistic' For Saying Nicola Sturgeon Should Be Thrown In Front Of A Horse'). For context if your not up on british politics; Sturgeon is the leader of a Scottish political party which got 90%+ of their target seats in the recent election, this gives them alot of sway in the UK parlia… | /r/MensRights | 18/07/15 10:47 PM |

Why are UK universities blocking men's societies? It also seems to happen in the USA, Canada and Australia.Uni of Shef has Forge as it's union funded news/media hub, I would have thought other universities have similar arrangements. | /r/MensRights | 16/06/15 09:42 PM
Why are UK universities blocking men's societies? It also seems to happen in the USA, Canada and Australia.Student union wouldn't cover the story. In the UK there is now an independent national student news blog The Tab, with local versions for many universities. I've found that they're often more critical of the union, than the official students union news. I wouldn't be surprised if they get more views than the official student news, I certainly see their articles shared on social media more often. It's also pretty easy to get approved to write content for them, although their content guidelines an… | /r/MensRights | 16/06/15 02:08 PM
Why are UK universities blocking men's societies? It also seems to happen in the USA, Canada and Australia.so you have to play their game. Or just ignore them, as you probably noticed with the support you got on Facebook(?). It's a vocal minority who have gained power in students unions, the majority are indifferent and whilst they may sympathise with the unions position, they are often alot more open to compromise and accepting it's flaws. | /r/MensRights | 16/06/15 01:58 PM
Why are UK universities blocking men's societies? It also seems to happen in the USA, Canada and Australia.I think you just have to be clear that both feminism and mens rights have bad examples and good examples, and that to fearmonger that all mens rights groups are about misogyny is simply offensive, when there's ample data to show areas that men are at a disadvantage. Similarly, if they insist on playing the anti-feminism angle, you could suggest that if feminist philosophy is not open to criticism and debate, should it really be given a platform? And that you would hope that a mens interest group… | /r/MensRights | 16/06/15 12:56 PM
Why are UK universities blocking men's societies? It also seems to happen in the USA, Canada and Australia.Good luck if you try to push it further, I'm not aware of anyone trying to setup a similar society at my university (Uni of Sheffield). However from my experience with the current union officers, I'm aware that their argument towards other equality initiatives is that women are institutionally oppressed (aka patriarchy) and therefore male problems are insignificant and don't deserve equal attention/publicity. I found this from a discussion with the (male) development officer regarding the inequa… | /r/MensRights | 16/06/15 12:43 PM

A feminist shares bs on my Facebook. This is what I wish I could say without fear of being ostracised. The whole image is incorrect, razors are taxxed at the full rate, and sanitary products are taxxed at 5% reduced rate(nothing to do with them being a luxury). Awareness should be raised of this, as the comparison is often raised, it makes their argument of 'government is misogynist' look far less significant. I'm not actually for/against the decision to tax them at 5%, without having access to the information they used to make their decision, any assessment of their choice without the same infor… | /r/MensRights | 04/04/15 02:41 PM
5 Reasons Why Feminists Don’t Say Much About The Horrors Of Prison Rape. - "Sexual assault is a horrible crime, we know this. | 5 | How we are distorting the way equality works. The billboard figure comes from a 2009 Statistics Canada report that found nearly half of self-reported domestic abuse victims are men. But it fails to point out that according to the same study, women were three times as likely to be victims of serious violence, such as being choked, sexually assaulted, beaten or threatened with a deadly weapon. The idea that any sane person could look at that study and think, “Wow, poor men,” is beyond ludicrous. Surely the correct response to this is to point… | /r/MensRights | 15/03/15 12:26 PM
