The new procedure would see victims and vulnerable witnesses give evidence in a 'less intimidating' room in the court with judges deciding the length and nature of cross-examinations. There will still be a level of cross examination, although it's somewhat unclear.

Slightly offtopic, because procrastination I'm not even sure how the Urban Dictionary ranking works; the top rated one has 14224 upvotes & 8935 downvotes (cumulative 5289, 61% up) Whereas the first one that isn't calling MRAs whiny is rank #7 and has 6553 upvotes & 1181 down votes (cumulative 5372, 85% up) Even if you switch to the statistical algorithm offered by someone critiquing Urban Dictionary for apparently using a cumulative ranking system, you get ratings close to the above percentages.…

Yes, the EU has lots of regulation around gender/racial discrimination afaik, treated the same as how it wouldn't be politically correct to adjust peoples insurance price based on their ethnicity. For once equality came out on mens side, must be the patriarchy /s.

A new study finds that auto insurance providers discriminate against women, charging them higher rates if they are single or newly widowed. But about 3 years ago, the EU had to pass equality legislation because there were insurance companies charging women less than men. Snip, appears the article is simply saying how single/married people get different insurance prices, and people complain about this for women, but not for men.

Student union wouldn't cover the story. In the UK there is now an independent national student news blog The Tab, with local versions for many universities. I've found that they're often more critical of the union, than the official students union news. so you have to play their game. Or just ignore them, as you probably noticed with the support you got on Facebook(?). It's a vocal minority who have gained power in students unions, the majority are indifferent and whilst they may sympathise with the unions position, they are often alot more open to compromise and accepting it's flaws.

I think you just have to be clear that both feminism and mens rights have bad examples and good examples, and that to fearmonger that all mens rights groups are about misogyny is simply offensive, when there's ample data to show areas that men are at a disadvantage. Similarly, if they insist on playing the anti-feminism angle, you could suggest that if feminist philosophy is not open to criticism and debate, should it really be given a platform? Good luck if you try to push it further, I'm not aware of anyone trying to setup a similar society at my university (Uni of Sheffield). The whole image is incorrect, razors are taxxed at the full rate, and sanitary products are taxxed at 5% reduced rate(nothing to do with them being a luxury).
