We were in debt before 9/11 but we were running a surplus and on our way towards paying it down. The reason why we went from deficits to surpluses is because of Bush rewriting the tax code for the richest 2% (who hold 90% of the wealth in this country) and making it so they don't have to pay any taxes. Combine that with Graham Leach Bliley and suddenly we're broke again. Throw a few wars on top and next thing you know we're on the verge of a 'fiscal cliff'

There's a decent chance that it is my child, I just want a paternity test to verify this. The fact that she won't let me see this kid, won't let me test for paternity, but has already filed for child support paperwork to try to get money out of me says it all. I will take your advice into account and ask every question 3 or 4 times. I may even carry a camera to record their answers as proof. Sure.. I'll at least go and talk to the them at the courthouse next week. This whole thing is so frustrating, I don't understand how a woman that I wasn't having sex with exclusively can just point at me and suddenly I have no choice but to prove I'm not the father.

Normally people in Ohio get probation for this kind of thing, so perhaps by throwing her in jail he was trying to send a stronger message to other would-be false accusers.
