If you like to gamble and really want to turn things on their ear, file for custody. This will force the mother and court's hand into requiring a paternity test as opposed to just leaving the ball in your court hoping you fuck up and let this slide.

One thing I will say is beware what they tell you in person or over the phone. More than a few guys have gotten straight up lied to and suffered years of paternity fraud as a result. Basically make sure you get a second opinion and/or double check whatever they say to you. This is why getting a lawyer is generally the way to go.

You must deal with this immediately. If you are broke now and you are judged to be the father, you're in for very serious problems. Try to get every answer you can repeated. Take the names of those giving you the information. Confirm information given to you by one official by asking another. It's like traffic directions in some countries, you need to ask several people before wasting your time going somewhere. Wrong information given to you by officials will not make much odds when trying to overturn a decision in a country where negative DNA tests do not make much difference, but officials who know you are writing down every last detail including their names are less likely to brush you off with rubbish. When making personal visits to courts, dress well and look as if you mean business. When you think you have done everything necessary put it in writing to a court official and ask questions. Write the answers down. If and when you are cleared, think about suing the woman. I wish you the best of luck.

Go to the court house and see if you can talk to an advocate or underwriter. They should be available. I don't really know what kind of stuff I can tell you about this especially since IANAL. There should be consultants you can talk to at the court house.

So shut the fuck up about not being able to afford it and fucking go get one. Get a personal loan if you need one, get a cash advance, get a credit card. . . .
