She had also been having emotional affairs with other dudes (one pretty strong one in particular) and even though I’d read the messages in secret, she continued to say she couldn’t be more perfect.

I’ll happily and generously accept 50%. But if it were up to her, she’d say I was 100% of the problem. Even after speaking honestly and openly about it with her when it first started, I asked if she felt she could have done anything differently or improved in any way. She flat out told me “there is no way I can be better than 100%”. Take that how you want.

Yeah man. It absolutely uprooted my life in an instant. Went through what a lot of guys here go through. I went from 205-210lbs in decent shape (I’m 6’1) and lost 60+ lbs in less than 3 months from not sleeping or eating. Became delirious at one point and I guess I had even tried to off myself - no recollection of it. A whole week of my life is just gone from my memory. Thankfully my friends (I have a large group of incredibly close buddies) figured something was up. I “came to” 6 days later in …

I was looking at a photo from a bachelor party I was at about 10 years ago. 3 of the divorced guys from that photo have committed suicide. It’s sad.

Really sorry to hear that, man. The only thing I can say is I feel your pain, but that won’t bring you any comfort. Sucks to dedicate yourself to someone just to have it all blown up. Hopefully you’ve managed to at least have a little fun with the situation? Even if it’s just going to a strip club or spending a weekend fishing alone/with some close friends.

(17/18yo, not 2017/2018) for those that were confused.

Been there. Stress is a powerful motivator!

Gabapentin has really helped me - for both sleeping and general “unease”. The only thing I can say is that if you’re not a fan of vivid dreams, avoid it. In many cases it also increases your appetite, but I lost like 50lbs when I got divorced and was scary thin, so this wasn’t a bad thing for me.

Not sure if troll? But it’s usually the opposite

Maybe I’m confused, but a post-nup isn’t the same thing as just filing your taxes? I’m in Canada so maybe this is where we differ

Only thing about #3 is if you’re also not interested in kids, I don’t really see a problem with it!

At least it sounds like she did SOMETHING for you!

I mean this in the funniest way possible, but good luck renewing a prenup every year in a romantic way 😂

That said, take the time to celebrate some level of newfound freedom for yourself - whenever you’re ready for it. Whether it’s hook ups or solo trips, or buying something special you wouldn’t have in your relationship, do something for YOU. You’ve earned it after all the stress and shit this puts you through.

4 hits the nail on the head. People DO change, and like you said, sometimes very rapidly. It’s frustrating.

That a prenup is important. I’m 32, and still had to shell out over 200k. Also - blind trust is stupid. “Hanging out” with guys from the gym several times a week is not something married women do. Probably should have reversed the situation in my head and wondered what she would think if I was always out with other women. FWIW we had been together since 17/18.

Yeah. When we split, I had asked if there was anything she felt she could have done to improve our relationship. She said no, that she had been the perfect partner anyone would dream of having. The irony, lol

48hrs. My situation was a little different, though. She kept skirting around the words separation/divorce until finally told her “it sounds like you want to separate”. 24hrs spent trying to figure out what the fuck was going on. Then I read her texts / messages and realized there was a lot more going on than I had been aware of. After that it still really sucked, and still does. I’m not even 6 months in but I’ve settled everything from a legal / financial POV. Together 14yrs if that makes any di…

Hah - funny you mention the valuation part. Mine tried to do the same because I was buying her out, so she tried to over inflate the value. I got two independent estimates done that she refused to accept. I didn’t want this to go on forever, so I got a family friend of hers / her parents to do his own, knowing he would likely be favourable to her. Came in 50k lower than the two I got done. Guess which she chose in the end?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
