Closer to 31% (9k / 29k). Less, but still significant.

I find it pretty creepy, regardless of who is doing it.

I don't understand your first statement -- are you implying that it's OK to film people in public without their knowledge?

STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Presumably, the question was "Why are you not doing STEM?"

I agree with most of this. However, there are a whole lot of rights that go with being married (e.g. visitation rights in hospitals).

Just posted this to my Facebook wall. Waiting for the oncoming storm....

It's good to point out the actual details of the story, but you can't assume that everyone has read every post on this subreddit ever. This is the first time I've read this story.

What I really hate about gender affirmative action (or the same thing for visible minorities) is that it totally screws over people like me who happen to be white and male. I was born this way and had no control over it, but even if I have the same qualifications as (e.g.) a female latina, in a lot of cases it means that I will not even be considered for scholarships or fellowships. That's discriminatory. Academia should be entirely merit-based, and a school like Harvard should know it. EDIT: Ju…

This is a little bit more complicated than it looks, because Quebec has in place a huge amount of 'common law' laws which effectively make it such that you don't have to get married to have spousal benefits in this province.

This might not be the same protest, but didn't this happen because the guy took out his junk at the feminist rally?

I understand that people don't want to see reposts, but people don't realize that not everybody sees every single thing that gets posted to Reddit. I, for example, have never seen this before, even though I've been following /r/MensRights for some time. If anything, we should implement some way of indicating that something is a repost, that way the people who don't want to see it don't click it, and the people who do still can.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that other people shouldn't be able to enjoy something. I mean, I really don't get the My Little Pony thing, but I respect that their interest in it is exactly the same as my interest in Reboot, Digimon, Rugrats and Power Rangers even though an adult. Sure, the dialogue is bad and the level of the language is even worse, but the plots are interesting enough and you can get a lot of enjoyment out of them once you've become invested in the charact…

Not sure why you got downvoted, because you make a totally valid point.

Don't apologize. People assume that just because they've seen it, everyone has, which is completely untrue.

Fellow Quebecer here. I went to a public Catholic school and experienced pretty much the same thing. I got in fights every day because I was the only person in my grade who wore glasses (and we were too poor to afford children's sizes, so they looked rediculous). Both boys and girls would try to break my glasses (one year I went through 4 pairs) and I distinctly remember only the boys ever getting ANY flak for it. In fact, I remember arguing with a teacher about how this one girl was repeatedly …
