Yeah, we don't need to celebrate step parents when the majority of them are bad. There are exceptions, but this commercial just makes it look like hey look how great new dad is. Yeah, I'm guessing there will be some repercussions for even mentioning it. Some mod on this sub looked at one of my posts recently and commented I was being a troll for responding to a nasty comment from a female lurker saying I got what I deserved and my ex was better off. My best advice as a litmus test is to look at divorce in her family. Are her parents divorced? Sisters? Aunts? If it seems like they aren't, and that is not the "norm" then that is a very good sign.

The best thing to tell the police or CPS if they ever contact you again is that you are in the middle of a divorce and that if they want to speak to you, they can contact your attorney first. One positive about dating when older is that there is less pressure and you can take your time and be more selective. We know now what red flags to look for and not settle for just whoever is willing to sleep with us. Also, it is fun to meet people and hear their stories.

You can't read. I stated it can be as high as 80 percent. That is accurate. Regardless most people understand the point of my post is that abuse rates are much higher for kids in situations were there is a step parent vs a bio parent.

It's 80 percent on the high end. Also even higher if there is a female teen with a step dad. Basic internet search confirms this. Maltreatment was most common in homes with a stepfather or boyfriend, with 80% of the maltreatment occurring between birth and age 4, 20% between ages 4-6, and 27% between ages 6-8.

Really, you believe that? Not in our family court system. The man is presumed guilty, and most of us are fighting false allegations to begin with. Yeah, I could of gone to trial to win custody but do you know what was a stake? If the judge is having a bad day or is already in favor of the mother (the majority) then they can take away your right to ever see your kid again. Most of the men here have to accept whatever we get without the benefit of a trial.

Do you know how many women get charged with making false abuse claims? I would say it is close to zero. So every divorce attorney knows that is step one in getting around 50:50 custody. Also they can make these claims in front a judge without you present to defend yourself and 99 times out of a hundred they are granted a TRO taking you away from your kids. My solution would be to remove that option by forcing fairness where you can defend yourself at these meetings before you a TRO can be grante…
