The point is that it’s not love if the other person’s top priority is looks. If the other person’s top priority wasn’t looks, they wouldn’t be with u just bc ur the best looking one they can snatch. They’d be five with worse looking but better personality fit

Ok. So now you understand the problem that OP is talking about.

How would it make you feel if your girl left you as soon as a “more attractive man” showed interest in her? Does she love you just because no more attractive man has ever shown interest in her? (Luckily, I don’t think this is how female sexuality works).

It is, because she knows you wouldn’t be with her if you could do better looks wise.

Because the girl knows that if you could do “better” you wouldn’t be with her? Bc girls actually care about having their husbands love them?

What I’m saying is that I wouldn’t view it as settling for something lesser if I was marrying a guy who maybe had subpar looks but truly loved me. But it would totally count as settling even if he had good looks if I knew that he was just “settling” for me bc he thought he couldn’t get a better girl.

St Augustine says that the man who would murder if he could is as guilty as the one who could and did.

No, you don’t understand the notion of not seeing other’s as objects. OP doesn’t view marrying a guy who is below average as settling. What she views as settling is marrying a man who views her as the “best he can get,” while wishing he could be with “better” women.

No. She’s stating that women don’t like to be settled-for. I would be perfectly happy with an average or even below average guy if I thought he could truly like me and not be lusting after hotter girls.

Yes I would prefer my future husband to be a virgin. This includes not watching porn. A man like this is a rare gem, and if he is monogamous at heart, honestly he should maybe just become a priest because he is one of the very best men alive and the best should go to God.

Nah. Those guys always sweet talk women into thinking they’re “the one.” Trust me. If these guys led into the relationship with “I’m going to cheat on you as soon as a hotter model makes herself available, just so you know” — they wouldn’t have any “nice girls” lining up to marry them. They only accomplish that through deception, through making the woman think that he is monogamous. Ironic how men on here think women take unfair advantage of them in divorce, when their entire marriages were pred…

Actually, are you actually a woman married to someone on here (obvi Automod is a joke)? Your perspective on this could be most helpful if so.

I only bring myself up as one of the relatively few women who realize men are the way they are. My broader point is (almost) none of these women you guys want for ltr would want you knowing what you espouse here. Are you guys really comfortable knowing you’re essentially deceiving women into wanting to be with you? Deceiving women who are going to commit their lives to you? Imo that’s basically rape.

The rules say “no excessively leading questions.” Evidently it wasn’t excessively leading, since it hasn’t lead to one answer among the people who have answered.

I guess what I’m trying to ask: why don’t you think women deserve the same thing from their husbands that you men think you deserve from your wives? I know you’ll deny that it’s a “deserve” thing, but it’s evident that men think they deserve it, given how mad they get at women when their plans fall through. Or when they complain that they can’t get “nice marriageable girls.” If you didn’t to some extent think something ought to be yours, you wouldn’t be so upset. No one who buys lottery tickets …

I know this is hard to believe, but just because a man doesn't have any interest in you, does not mean that they shit all over you and curb stomp you on road. I know this goes off narrative, but maybe they're nice guys. I know you're not attracted to them, because, well, we know why. What I mean is: they ask my advice, take my opinions seriously, respect what I have to say, confide in me, etc. That attraction is exactly why you won't be grossed out. This falls under the incel concept of "She'll …

To your #3, I’m not fighting to force men to do anything. In my opinion, it’s just cognitive dissonance... or, do you really respect women so little that you are willing to dupe one into marrying you, despite the fact that you’d be on your way out as soon as a young blond shows up? I guess I’m just trying to figure out if men are really as psycho and irrational as I think they are at this point.

I think you’re under-estimating how much a woman can project her own way of becoming attracted to a man onto a man. For example, it wasn’t until I started reading reddit that I realized that men weren’t like me. I like one man at a time. And even though I can recognize when a man meets a socially accepted standard of beauty, I’m still generally uninterested in him. It’s not until I know a guy’s personality or until I project one onto him that I can be truly attracted. I think a lot of women have…

God loves them all. He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for all of us -- and that includes them. Christ came to heal the sick. I know you said you are a Jew. But that is what I believe. That doesn't mean that everyone is equally virtuous or equally holy, though.

"It's totally feasible even now to raise a good, loving family." That, I can agree with. But certain conditions have to be met. For example, the child must be bought up a two parent household. Specifically, a husband (male) and a wife (female) (monogamous) who love and respect each other, and who value each others' contributions to the family and do not claim to be superior to their spouse. Because broken homes lead to broken individuals. In many (if not all) cases, I agree. But we are all broke…

Doesn't change the fact that men have traditionally and historically, for millennia bore most of the burden when it comes to building up civilization. I don't think we really have the historical data to be able to speak to the birth of civilization, but I do think that men were the leaders from the start. And I also think that it was probably more or less socially unacceptable for women to hold official positions of power. You have to differentiate between innate capacities and the fulfillment o…

God gave Adam dominion over this world. Not Eve. Actually, the Holy Scriptures say: "Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth. God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and God said to them: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth …
