Tell her it bothers you that she speaks negatively about someone you love, and if someone were to constantly speak negatively about her, you would tell them to knock it off, too. (You don't have to feel this way necessarily, but I feel like this helps to level people out a little bit.) At the end of the day, the only person she is hurting is you, and if she is OK with continuing to do that after you ask her to stop, she is no better than the men she is talking about.

who knows what would've become if you had married earlier. Very interesting insight. What do you think about the OP? Do you have any suggestions for her? In regards to her hesitation.

I am VERRRYYYYY glad I didn't get married in my 20's. My $0.02 - I suppose it depends on what it is you're worried about. Is it kids, sex, or money? If so, probably leave and spend your best years finding someone who aligns with you.

I am right there with you. It's something I have worked on hardcore!!! Revisiting the issue only solidifies it and makes it more memorable. Let him lead the narrative after your apology. Yeah you should get this off your chest but don't become a mess or repeat yourself. I feel like I have a tendency to do that sometimes because I feel so bad, but that kind of makes it all about me in a way. No bueno and gets annoying. Keep it short and sweet. Good timing, but don't wait too long. "Hey, I want to apologize for the thing with your aunt. It was not true and I am sorry. I realize that clearly now. 4 hour commute is nuts edit: sorry I realize that was very unhelpful lol. I was just shocked. But anyways, the best time to look for a new job is while you are already employed. Ugh that's so hard. The line between what is tolerable and when to leave is so complicated and blurry. Maybe let him know that you're actually thinking of leaving. Tell him you will always support him in his times of need as long as he doesn't berate you. That sounds like it's a good line/boundary? I find inversions helpful. If gravity is the reason we sag, might as well spend some time upside down to combat being upright all day. I do yoga poses as well as lay on my bed with my head/chest hanging off the bed. I’m not sure if it works. But it sure feels like it.

While being doted on can sometimes be off-putting, I’ve found it’s not that black and white for me. Being considered and feeling like you matter to someone is amazing. But something about being too “doted” on feels controlling, or like you’re constantly being watched. There’s definitely a fine line. But personally, I don’t gravitate towards “bad boy” behavior, like, someone being aloof, or pretending not to care.

Yeah, I mean, have you seen the girls these days? It's just unrealistic, filters and all that. It's good that the husband is letting his sons know that these people aren't reality. And guys do that in their own way.

I am reading this as your husband trying to protect his boys from the proverbial “insta girl”. You know the type. The internet is an insane place. He’s right to do this. In no way should you be offended by this. Full stop. He isn’t talking about you or your femininity. At all. It’s actually probably a compliment to you, that he is comfortable saying this in front of you. He is warning your boys of people who absolutely will take advantage of them. Try to focus less on yourself and put effort into seeing things from his perspective. What would make him feel better about his stressful situation? (definitely not you nagging him about your insecurities, so do not do that). If you know his love language start there. Give him a foot rub, or make him a night-time breakfast when he wakes up at 5, make it fun and relaxed.

We change. You aren’t the same person you were 5 years ago, and you won’t be 5 years from now either. I find other peoples’ over-simplified “rules” like that really dumb and limiting, but believe whatever you want.

This! I’ve always felt being overtly “sexy” is super awkward (for me anyways) and the best times come when you give them the space to relax and the atmosphere to be allowed to be turned on. Let them have it be their idea. Like don’t even have it in your head. Just be loving kind and playful with no ulterior motive, other than to be his woman who adores him. If it happens it happens if it doesn’t, that’s ok too.

Omg can you be my mom please. I’m going through a breakup with a “high value” man and turns out he’s just a huge man baby. Obsessed with his ex who he sought therapy for, said he was suicidal. Breadcrumb if me for 9 months. I’m so fucking over it. But I got attached to him and I’m worried I’m being a jerk for not feeling bad for him and his past struggles. I’m worried I won’t find someone else. Ok done sorry to derail from OP.

Gotcha. It might help her to ascertain certain ceremonies that her husband respects and align their wedding vows with those. That’s if he has any, but I think humans have evolved to cherish and celebrate certain milestones in the lifetime, so there should be something there for her to work with.

Coaches of a good team know every one of their players and how each one responds to positive and negative reinforcement. When you praise - some players get lazy. Some players get really motivated and want to keep pleasing. When you berate - some players will absolutely shut down. They can’t handle that type of communication. For others it is necessary to get their asses in gear. I can’t remember what about your comment made me think of this but here we are :)

I’d ask her why she feels the need to lie to you about things like that and listen to what she says. We can all learn from our partners. No ones perfect and you might be doing something that bothers her or whatever. Then explain to her that it doesn’t matter how “little” the lie is, it’s still something that you won’t tolerate in a relationship, and that If she decides to do it again, she would effectively be choosing to end the relationship.

Seems to me the red pill is one big therapy session for victims of emotional rape. Just like a man uses his superior physical strength and size to take what he wants from a woman; a woman, lacking the ability to physically overpower him, will employ the strengths she naturally possesses over a man to take what she wants. Neither are OK and both types of manipulation are equally damaging to the psyche, this sub being the case in point. Unfortunately, the non-physical manipulation, "emotional rape…

This is really interesting. My initial assumption was that most of you guys would say that sex on the first date would be come off as slutty/desperate. A lot of you are actually saying the opposite. To address your other point about establishing your alpha-ness right away; there have been many times where I have perceived a man as "beta," or whatever, but after getting to know him and seeing him in different situations, I did a total 180. Yep. And the equivalent of a dog who gets treats because he puts his but down when his owner says "sit." Classic conditioning my friend. edit: Or trial and error... depending on your perspective.

Gotchya. So, at the end of the day, what is your stance on a girl sleeping with you on the first date? Deal-breaker?

What is your idea of high and low partner count?

So, in this case, I, as a female, am the fisherman. For the last 25 years I have been asking other fisherman how to catch fish. What I am doing now is asking the fish, "what do YOU want?" But this is clearly a pointless question without more specific information, because, let's face it; A king salmon won't take the same bait as a cod fish.

So I've basically gotten all three answers to this question, which goes to show that everyone views this issue differently: We have you, /u/jb_trp, who says sex on first date = no LTR; "I don't want a girl with a high partner count or gives it up too easy" We have /u/Philhelm who says sex on first date = necessary for LTR; "Brad Pitt rule - anything a woman would do with Brad Pitt on a first date should be done with me, or she just isn't that much into me." And, we have /u/seattleron who says it…

Haha I'm sorry if I made this 100x more confusing for you. I guess you have to make that call on a case-by-case basis. Here's the mindset that many women have: We will sleep with a man that we like on the first night and that's all that will come of it. We keep sleeping with guys that we see as potential boyfriends on the first night and none of them are calling us back, or nothing comes from it, so we decide to change our behavior in order to generate a different outcome. Honestly, I've had bot…

Totally - I wanted to let you all know, that while there are obviously exceptions, that this was a completely valid point. What is the general male consensus on this thought pattern? Are you more willing to wife a girl up who will sleep with you on the first date? Or would you not consider her LTR material? Or is it moot?

Take it however you'd like but at the end of the day she sees you as a potential mate which is something I would say is a good thing. Consider it delayed gratification; no sexy-time tonight but the opportunity for unlimited sexy-time in the nights to come.

Female here - I know you don't place a whole lot of value my opinion 'round these parts so go ahead and take it or leave it. I have literally thought this many times before: "I like him a lot and would definitely consider him for a LTR so I don't want to have sex with him the first night," ya know, so that he doesn't think I'm a huge slut who will sleep with anyone the first time i meet them/hang out with them. But this isn't necessarily always the case. There are an infinite amount of reasons w…
