Although in popular culture it's phrased as confidence, not narcissism. There's a lot of self-promotion and grandiosity is normalized in North American culture even if you don't think it's narcissism per se. I think your hypothesis on social proof has some validity. But I think social proof through social media is probably only applicable in North America. North Americans are obsessed with social media. I doubt that the social proof through social media approach would work that well in other countries.

I'm not very interested into the girls in bars or clubs. Also, approaching girls in public does not work since most of the girls now just raise their shields up and I also do not like to approach in public, tbh. I agree with one exception. I personally think, if you don't have any dating experience like me, you should keep dating her for sometime. Benefit is you get some first hand experience of the dating process. Obviously, you are gonna make some stupid mistakes, which will help you in the future when you meet someone you actually like. If she rejects you, no harm done, you don't like her anyway. You got the learning experience for free.

Can you give more concrete advice? I've been doing things, starting to go to meetups and charity events. But most of the time, they are either sausage fest or girls with bfs or girls who are below avg. I'm personally not very comfortable at approaching girls who are just trying to live their life e.g., at a bus-stop or grocery stores. I know yoga classes are goldmine of girls. But there must be something other than the yoga classes where we can meet girls.
