I don't think I've actually seen a woman in real life like nerdy guys. Even the nerdy girls I've seen go after your typical chads.

Women making money off men's suffering isn't anything new, these right leaning political women are a tiny bit better than the OF girls though. The core has always been the left hating and demonizing men. Did they think men would literally spend their lives hating themselves and being bullied and guilt tripped into whatever the democrats wanted? The right isn't the best answer, but when you have one side hating you so much, and one side being like "hey those guys who hate you are kinda nuts. I do…

Absolutely terrible for all parties involved. It ruins men's brains by giving easy stimulation and increasing threshold for erections hence the ED epidemic, and it also sexualizes women too much and exposes them to the darker side of masculinity which damages their views of men as a whole. As a society this hyper sexualization is going to be the end of us but no one cares because guys are getting placated by porn and women are getting attention and money.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/25 11:32 PM

I feel for you but honestly it's gonna be really hard to find a woman who is ok dating autistic guys, especially in this day and age. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Totally agree and sadly it's already starting to happen

Yeah, a combination of personal experience + observations. I'm obviously talking in generalities, and of course there are women who are great friends and men who are shit friends. But generally, I don't think women make good friends as a man, or are any better than other male friends as a man. I didn't mention this before, but another reason is because men generally catch feelings for their female friends which results in a whole bunch of drama, hurt, and the friendship ending anyways so might a…

That's great you do that, but you're also speaking from experience. The original question was asking why some men may not look for female friendships and I'm speaking from my experience as someone who doesn't.

Well women don't like men in general so I'm pretty sure you're right.

Opening up to female friends has never gone well, let's just leave it at that. Yeah, most recently a female friend reached out to me about how she was having trouble in interviews. I interview a lot of candidates, so I hopped on a Zoom call with her and did a mock interview with her and gave feedback. She passed her interview. Throughout my life I've done most of what I've mentioned before.

>> Question why do some men seem like they enjoy this? They don't, it's a necessity. If men do this, they are trying to protect their masculinity. >> A lot of men have said the emotions they can't show to their male friends they can to their female friends. I guess it's just providing value in a different way Sadly, women can't really provide value there either. Showing weakness to women just disgusts them so there's no point in opening up to them. >> You seem like they type to view women as wor…

Men provide value. A male friend will buy meals, help you move, drive you around, etc. they will also listen to all your dating issues and be your emotional dumpster. Women don't do any of that for men, in general. All the female friends I've had never gave anything back to the relationship hence why I have no female friends and why I don't want any female friends. Female friends only take, they never give. Most men have experienced this to some extent. Why would we go out of our way to be taken…

Women don't need it, dating is more difficult in another way. They aren't lacking in options, but in quality. It's basically Chad or bust and no amount of PUA would help them. The only thing that would help is probably pick me stuff which is obviously frowned upon.

You're right it's the Calhoun experiment, and Milgram did the prison guard one, I got them mixed up. Edited the original comment to reflect this. Definitely agree with you, we can do this a lot more nicely without the misandry and pain. What really makes me sad is this shows how much females despise males when they aren't needed, even across species.

There is no easy fix. What's funny is what's happening to us is similar to the Calhoun mice utopia experiment. We're tracking very closely to it and the ending isn't good (the colony went extinct).

Honestly dealing with autistic people in general is pretty draining and tiring, so I can imagine it's not great for women to date an autistic man. Women can get away with it since men are much more forgiving but I don't blame women for not wanting to date autistic men. In fact women are doing their job, they'll hopefully select autism out of the gene pool along with other undesirable traits. Just natural selection doing its thing.

Women are not empathetic. What you just described are sympathy and compassion. Empathy is putting yourself in another person's situation fully and understanding exactly what they're going through. They can do this with some other women to an extent but not at all with men. The redpill calls this solipsism which isn't entirely correct either, but not too far from the mark.

A friend has never confessed to me. I imagine this isn't something most men experience, this is a mostly women thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 09:57 PM

This is something I've realized as I got older. They have no empathy at all, where did the lie that they do come from?

Yes all of them. It doesn't matter the medium they use, you can call it an oligarchy if you want but the majority of people in power are men.

Aren't boys part of the patriarchy that is actively oppressing women? If not they will eventually grow up to be the men who comprise the patriarchy.

Definitely agree. I would argue social circle and networking is probably the most important thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/24 07:16 AM

Yeah I've argued with other guys here about money and a lot seem to think just having money solves all your problems, especially dating problems. Money doesn't hurt obviously but it will never make up for any other deficiency you have. To me this is our version of the hot girl problem, where hot girls always worry about if guys like them for them and when their looks fade or our money dries up, will the other person leave?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/24 07:15 AM
2

Yeah I've gotten pretty disillusioned with the red pill and their advice. Money isn't the only thing, but I'm more afraid of black pill being correct. It's possible that you literally need all of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/24 03:28 AM
12

Depends on what self improve means. I took the RP advice and got a 6 pack and 7 figure net worth but it didn't help in terms of dating at all. Looking back it might be even more important to work on game or improving mentality rather than grinding money and the gym.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/24 01:02 AM

It's actually men since they're looking for a woman with realistic dating expectations.

I used to be pretty hardcore RP and I did try it in my life and it's had both good and bad effects. There's a few dangers that I would look out for: - expectation management: even if you do everything RP says, it's still possible that nothing good happens - RP is focused on short term relationships, and I wouldn't listen to their advice on long term relationships. I also wouldn't listen to BP either on any of those, but I will say that in relationships I think you do need some more BP to balance…

Many people have already said depends on the society, but I think it really depends on the stage that society is in. The more a society is privileged/advanced, the more privilege women have and vice versa.

Exact same thing happened to me, and I've come to the same mindset as you. Statistically there will be people who never pair up so unfortunately we drew the short end of the stick. I don't know about you, but the self improvement phase did at least guarantee that I'll have a pretty comfortable life alone (I can soft retire before 40) and I don't mind being alone so it's not all bad, but it could be better. That's bull. Why do men assume women can just wave their pussies around?Prostitutes are one of the most vulnerable populations. There's entirestretches of places throughout the US and Canada where prostitutes areroutinely killed because no one searches for them and the police don'tcare. It's true that the prostitution profession is complex, but it is still an option. Prostitution doesn't have to be physical, with the internet it's pretty safe unless you dox yourself. When I say safer I mean in terms of survival. There are more safety nets in society for you to keep living. In terms of safe, there are studies that show men are actually the victims of violent crimes more so they may actually be safer in terms of the traditional definition as well (although this might be changing, here's the graph https://www.statista.com/statistics/423245/us-violent-crime-victims-by-gender/). For sure women can experience those things, men don't have a monopoly on it and that's not what I was trying to convey. Men experience those things magnitudes greater than women though, and it's hard to explain or convey since it's an experience built upon a lifetime. And of course there's outliers and there are some unlucky women who face that same experience. But we're talking about averages here. The best way I can think of is think of those zombie movies where a group or person is all alone …

To me it's pretty obvious they are hated. They are blamed for slavery, colonization, and a bunch of other stuff. There's a Netflix show called Dear White People. Go out and call a white person a cracker, you'll find you won't get much retaliation since they're in guilt trip mode and no one is going to defend them. The "cis white male" is the famous punching bag for many groups.

I kind of agree and this was my point to why there's no good way to address this. When people put in work, they want the reward. As for if it should be called entitlement, to me I would disagree since to me entitlement means you think you deserve something WITHOUT having to work for it, but I've seen it being used as just the feeling of deserving something. The thing here that gets me is that there's a negative connotation with the latter definition; what if the feeling is justified? It's usua…

I totally agree with the study and this has been conventional wisdom that's been lost within the current generations. We're all a lot more shallow now and picking traits that won't help nurture a family or a relationship. I wish more people were aware of this. As for going for a partner not my type, it's a compromise.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/22 11:05 PM

There isn't really a good way to address it. Reading your post and replies makes me think you don't know much about the male experience. In terms of entitlement, of course there's going to be the odd ones here and there that actually do feel entitled to a relationship just by existing. However, I can tell you that a vast majority of men learn from a young age that nothing is given for free and it has to be earned some way. If you studied hard for an exam and fail it and you're angry, would you s…

Women are naturally supportive of eugenics. That stuff about creating a master race isn't too far off from what they subconsciously seek. That's why they want the famous 666 because those superior genes will keep propagating through time.

I'm probably an outlier but it's been like playing on nightmare mode for me. I don't see it getting better, so I've kinda made peace with it. My personality and looks make it really hard to find anyone that would be OK with that kind of lifestyle.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/22 11:42 PM

Of course. Men still have traditional expectations and women can do what they want. Many women in the west today are masculine, in fact they want to be and are encouraged to be. Femininity is seen as negative which shouldn't be the case IMHO.

Exactly its the qualitymatch for the whole package. Sure, but we're talking about the average man and like I mentioned before, the average man isn't a criminal or a junkie. Does this include exceptionally ugly men? I thought it was obvious, but women want exceptional going in the positive direction. Most everyone does. By definition, someone who is average isn't exceptional. If this wasn't true, I think we'd be seeing a whole different world than we're seeing now. I've seen so many deadbeat men …

Yeah I agree with you there as well. The average man is more inexperienced than what RP would call "alphas" or "HVM" due to being unwanted. This is very similar to the chicken and egg problem of an inexperienced person beginning their job search. All companies want experienced employees, but employees need to get that experience by having a job. What ends up happening is there's a huge bidding war over very experienced employees whereas the junior/entry level ones get nothing. This is what's hap…

No for sure, everyone is capable of that. However, as an average guy, you aren't getting a lot of options. To me it still makes no sense why an average guy would mistreat their slim prospects as you said. The commenter made it seem like average guys are guilty of mistreating women en-mass. If you can only get a partner every few years as an average guy, why would you talk down to her, not care for her, etc and increase the chances of her leaving you and then having to go through the grind to get…

Maybe, but I highly doubt that. To me it makes no sense for an average guy, who already has a ton of trouble dating, to suddenly treat a woman who has agreed to date him badly. That's like being stranded out in the desert and when you find a small water pool, you destroy it. Add in the PC culture we have now and I don't see the incentive for average men to do that.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/22 06:52 PM

Your average man isn't a criminal or a junkie. On the other side a bald, fat, ugly, rich man will have women. I'm not talking about just looks here, an average man includes the full package. 5'8, 50k per year, a bit overweight, no exceptional talents or skills. You can change the parameters around a little as long as you don't go too far. So 5'9, 40k per year, a bit overweight is still average. 5'7, 50k per year, a bit fit is still average. Women want the exceptional, so drug dealers who aren't …

This will work if you're already starting from a pretty high base. It's becoming more and more common that below average women don't want average men. So even if a man lowers his standards, even those women may not want him. If you're a man who needs self improvement, lowering your standards probably won't work since that won't change women's expectations. Women across the entire spectrum are more willing to be single and alone than "settle" for your average man.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/22 02:58 AM

The main difference I've seen is that some incels are willing to self improve to better their odds and make themselves more attractive; I don't think I've seen a "womancel" have that same mentality.
/r/MensRights10/01/22 10:27 PM
1

I'm assuming you meant it doesn't mean they want to be with them, I get your point. It sounds like they wouldn't like it for a long-term relationship, but may be agreeable to something more short-term with stoic men. Given the prevalence of hookup culture, women who like stoic men may not be a majority but I'm guessing they wouldn't be exceptions either.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/21 01:14 AM
1

Decent points, definitely get where you're coming from. I was thinking that when men express these emotions, they are feeling them for the most part. The women themselves may not care much for the emotion, but the side-effects of the emotion are what they really do care about. At that point can you say you like men who exhibit this emotion even if you don't care for the emotion itself? I'm not sure. For the second study my only point is that stoicism is more attractive than displaying happiness,…

I wouldn't say they're the exceptions, they're a lot more common. This post that references a few studies shows that prideful men are rated very attractive: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/aesthetics-101/201707/what-is-the-sexiest-emotion-men-display This one shows that stoic men are rated more attractive than happy men: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/05/110524070310.htm I think there is something to be said about men displaying traditional masculine traits in their looks.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/21 07:52 PM

In my personal experience showing emotion is a huge turn off. Don't think I've ever seen a guy increase his attractiveness by being emotional in front of a woman. Also not exactly the same, but there was a study that showed women found stoic looking men more attractive than smiling men: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/05/110524070310.htm

That's a tough one because good build and good posture can make up for it if he shaves his head. Some women are into that bald and buff look. However, I think he'll still have some issues. Being kind, honest, and truthful won't make him any more attractive. I know tons of guys who are good guys and get passed over like they're nothing. There was a recent study within the past 4 years that supports this: https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/news/looks-are-all-that-matter-when-women-choose-a-man-say-sci…

Depends, even if they're not hot there's a lot that goes into looks. Height, build, hair, posture, etc. Are we talking about a guy who fails in all of those? If so, I'd guess she's getting something else out of that relationship or it most likely won't last long.

Yeah money can definitely help, but I still think there's a limit to what it can do. At least for now....judging by the progress plastic surgery is making it might be possible to just design your body like you want in the future.

Definitely one possibility. I've talked to my female friends and for them it's mostly about picking the right guy but no guy meets all their criteria. My male friends are having trouble attracting women.

So you only need to provide sources when you make a claim that X is more important than Y? That makes no sense to me. You still made your own claims. How is making a statement that one is more important than the other stupid or lazy? It allows a person to prioritize and plan accordingly. It's actually lazier not to do that, saying it's all important. If you can order by importance, that will allow people to make informed decisions on which ones they can concentrate on. While generalizations aren't the best tool we have, a lot of how we navigate the world is based on generalizations and probabilities. At some point we have to use them, otherwise we'd be gridlocked when it comes to decision making. The entirely of social science is based on broad sweeping conclusions to try and explain a social phenomenon. It should be understood that within generalizations there are outliers, but the rule of a generalization is majority, so at least 51%. I don't know how you go…

This is exactly my experience with RP as well. It helped me get a girlfriend but sticking to those teachings is what also killed the relationship. Let me rephrase it; super hot broke assholes basically get a new girl everyday of the week if they want, in terms of the dating market they are doing very well. There's only so much you can do to min/max appearance, some things can't and shouldn't be done.

Also want to point out that women see 80% of men as below average so if they say you're 5.5/10, which is slightly above average, that would mean you're most likely in the top 20%.

Definitely agree that you should stop having a totally defeatist mentality and make the most of what you have. However in my case I did follow the red pill and it improved my life quite a bit; I'm in good shape and I have money. Those things didn't help in the dating department though, and I can definitely see the blackpill being proven true even more as time goes on. To me it's about finding purpose and enjoyment in life alone, and I think that's what blackpill men should do. I think the blackp…

Definitely true. In my experience women hate it when men show any weakness or emotion. I learned very quickly to never do any of that stuff in front of women and my interactions with women have gotten better because of it. Dating Asian women is just as hard, they don't seem into it either. In the west they go after white guys mostly. Whenever I see an Asian guy with an asian girl I feel really happy for him.

It's not evil, but it is unfair. Nature is unfair and cruel, which is what hypergamy is. However, nature ensures survival of the fittest, so it was necessary at some point and still may be. For a society obsessed with equality and fairness, it seems odd to just gloss over this which is why some people may be mad.

I think there's 2 main reasons for this: that saying that privilege is invisible to those that have it, and also if they acknowledge the power they have that damages the whole "women are oppressed" narrative. There's no easy way for women to understand what men go through, but there's Norah Vincent's famous documentary about living as a man for a year and also some testimonials from FtM transgenders about the differences between the female and male experience.

It's not a cheap substitute for the real thing, it's an alternative. Women now have access to some of the most attractive looking men in the world, why would they ever get off OLD? High status men can now easily create soft harems whenever they want. I don't see this going away any time soon. At best the only people who will stop using OLD are the bottom 80% of men, and women will be very glad.

It's an interesting perspective that I can relate to, since this is what the manosphere basically teaches men. To me this makes sense if a person doesn't care at all about family, companionship, etc and can be on their death bed and be satisfied with work accomplishments. If this isn't the case for some people, then I think it's very dangerous to mislead them into sacrificing their time to achieve something that won't make them happy. You've outlined some risks that are very real and need to be …

They can but only if the problem is universal. For example, they can empathize with a poor person, doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman. They cannot empathize with a specifically male problem though; in fact, they will most likely do the opposite and find that man disgusting.

One huge mistake I've made is taking women at face value. Watch what they do instead of listening to what they say. It's not that they are purposely trying to lie to you, but in my experience they are more likely than men to be affected by the moment and allow emotion to affect their choices and preferences.

Thanks for being patient and clarifying your position. If that quoted explanation is “hypergamy,” then how is men tending to go for women better than him in all feminine ways not “hypergamy”? I think what TRPers are doing is referring to anything related to “optimizing masculine sexual-mating characteristics” as “hypergamy.” They want to highlight dimorphic differentials but are muddying the accuracy along the way. The reason why I doubt that they have never gotten interest is because men are pigs. They'll go after almost anyone, and 40 years is a long time. I agree somewhat. Sure, evolution plays a part but if you take the whole of human history it's been more than 100 years since women really needed a mate who could go all out provider and protector, especially in first world countries. I'd say we stopped needing this in the 1700s during the industrial revolution, if not the late 1600s. Women who weren't upper class still worked in the fields, textile mills, laundry steamers, coal mines, butcher shops, etc. It was a very rough life for both sexes …

I don't think so. This won't work for men simply because women can get sex easier than men, they don't need to simp at all. They can. It won't be as easy and the fandom won't be as big, but they can do it. Men have a variety of fetishes, so the average woman needs to focus on a group of these to get that fandom. I would agree with him. In western society, women have a lot more safety nets and also the natural safety net of relying on prostitution. Low value men have no safety net, so if they fail they're thrown away. This is evidenced by the huge number of male homeless vs female homeless. I think when the OP was talking about invisibility, he was talking about society as a whole. The 40 year old virgins on your forum may be invisible to men, but not necessarily invisible to society. Got it, thanks for clarifying. Assuming men do need extra stuff too, it isn't the same extra stuff so I still don't think it's hypergamy. I think you're trying to conflate the two into a general definition which is fine if you want to coin a new term for that, and then a new term for the male version of it. However, I don't see the usefulness in re-defining hypergamy.

See, this is where my personal experience is very different than yours. I'm an extremely average guy, not particularly better than my peers at being stronger or smarter, I'm firmly middle-class, and I'm 5'8" so have dated women taller than me too. If I got involved with a woman who thought I was "better" just because I am 2" taller or make $10k more a year, or have 4 more IQ points...that'd be fucking weird and would make me uncomfortable. I respect your opinion, but I also disagree. My view is reinforced by my own personal experience which is the same for you. The reason I believe respect and admiration is required for a woman's love (even normal women) comes from a couple observations and beliefs. One is that it's inherited from how humans have had to work for almost our entire history. Women have periods of vulnerability (pregnency) where they can't do much and must be protected during those times. Another is what women look fo…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/21 04:15 AM

Why is that? The respect is almost like an admiration, meaning a woman needs to be able to admire her man to love him. It's easier to admire people who you perceive are better than you. This perception is totally subjective on the woman's part.

I 100% agree with what you just said, but I don't see what that has to do with my reply to the OP unless I missed something. To phrase it differently, I think your title is almost correct. Men and women do optimize their partner to lean more towards the other gender. Men definitely "femme-optimize" as you put it, but women do "mascu-optimize" + some extra stuff. That extra stuff is what I mentioned in my reply about needing to also respect their man. Now this respect is usually your typical tall…

I get where you're coming from and actually agree with some of your points, but at the end of the day it seems like men do "settle" a lot more in that sense and know they won't get their ideal. Also, there is a big yet subtle difference in the "hypergamy" argument for women: women need to be able to respect their man to love him, but men don't need to respect their woman to love her. That respect comes from a deeper meaning of being better than her, and her perception of him compared to not only…

I don't have a good estimate, but I do know all the women I've met so far are either in good relationships or complaining about not being able to keep a guy. Through the grape vine, I've heard all of them are having casual sex to some degree.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/21 12:07 AM
2

It's a good sentiment, but I think you're wrong. As a man, you'll fall under one of two categories: - you're an average guy and raising your standards does nothing since you were already invisible to women - you're an above average guy who raises your standards, and women will either accept sharing you or not have a partner In either scenario women still "win", so this won't change the dating market. Women have been sharing high value men since humans have existed.

Boring by what standard? If they are living out a Hollywood movie, that by definition isn't boring. Most movies are entertaining to some extent. Also, RP is not a strict manual but a guideline. All that makes sense and should not be shamed. However, for whatever reason, women usually only get with men who are at least in their socio-economic bracket or higher. They almost never go lower. An independent woman reduces her dating pool (by increasing her laundry list) the higher she climbs up the corporate ladder. Everyone including men innately know this which is why most will never admit it, but I'm pretty sure that's a big reason for the criticism of independent women. That and also the…

The reason why I didn't list those TV shows is because of my other point, which was that TV is not equatable to society. A child may not watch TV but they will interact with people, and through those people they will acquire their world view. You listed a bunch of TV shows that support your argument which is fine, but this is a cherry picked list. There are many examples of TV shows that support the opposing view. Also, your argument seems to be entirely based on TV yet the question is posed against society and TV is not necessarily society. Hard to say, there's so many factors to consider. I don't think the effect will be positive though. Since dating has become even more difficult for a majority of men now, a lot will lose drive and purpose in life since they won't have a family to care for and will just end up doing what they want or being depressed. Having that productivity taken out of society is not a good thing. Women will continue dating and delay anything serious until later, which may make dating harder for them as well as…

It seems like it's become a lot more difficult for the bottom 80% of men, but for everyone else it's become easier. I don't think men as a whole think they're entitled to women. Men know how much work they have to put in to be at a dateable level, but that effort usually isn't known to women. I agree though that as of late, men's usefulness to women has gone down with the provider role taken away from them. Before, your average man could get a woman if he was a decent provider. But if you don't date, you still get older and closer and closer to the wall. Not dating a guy doesn't magically stop time. In fact, not dating a guy has a higher chance of you not getting married than dating the guy, so it's actually better to date a guy regardless if it "wastes" your time or not. It seems like the premise of your reason for men to pay is that you won't find a good guy as time goes on, but you still want to find a guy. People usually don't get paid for the things they have to o…

Agreed. The way I saw it is that women are investing their good looks and youth on a man who at the moment is a bit lower in SMV but will later be a lot higher. That's why it was important for women to choose men who had specific good traits and not shallow ones.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/09/18 05:03 AM

I don't get why you refer to it as wasting time. If you're hanging out with someone or people you want to hang out with, is that also wasting time? It seems like you want people to pay you for your time, so if you hang out with friends or parents do you also require that they pay for your meals or entertainment?

If I understand TRP correctly, they claim that women on average start to lose their looks and fertility around 30. Also, men only age like wine if they keep an active lifestyle and focus on their career to gain wealth. If men don't do those things, then they also age like milk.

Why would having a high n-count be something to be proud of? If it's something with no inherent value like you claim, then it doesn't make sense for it to be something to brag about. I wouldn't brag about going to so many dinners and movies with friends, it would just be something I do. Women should have sex freely whenever they feel like it, sex positivity is good for everyone. That's true, more responsibilities doesn't necessarily mean more loss of time but it means that you cannot leave your responsibilities without consequences. It's harder to take larger blocks of time off when something could blow up and you were on watch. The path to getting more responsibilities usually means hard work as well, which means less vacation time. You don't magically end up with a promotion by traveling all the time. The guy who doesn't travel and works instead will get the promotion…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/17 06:41 PM
1

If you plan on never advancing in your career and never getting promoted then sure, but normally people do get promotions and hence get more responsibilities. This also applies when people start their own businesses, too. Honestly, I don't understand the argument against this. As people age, like I keep mentioning, they pile up more responsibilities. I'm more asking how you see people getting less as they age which would allow them to travel. To me, it just seems like a way for you to brag about…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/17 06:24 PM
1

How do you see that working out? The only way you'd have less responsibilities is if you didn't get a job after you finished school and didn't have kids. Getting responsibilities as you age is how normal progression of life works. The only point where you have less is after retirement, but the period between that and childhood is basically filled with you working your ass off.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/17 06:10 PM

It's just how it works. As you age, you get more responsibilities. Kids, promotions at your job, your own business, etc. Usually people don't get less responsibilities as they age.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/17 06:03 PM

While that's true, I think that traveling is something that most people enjoy, old or young. The difference is, younger people don't have as many responsibilities so they can go travel more.

I'm very active and I have noticed this as well. In the gym, it's mostly guys but when there are women they are either with a guy who is huge and much stronger than they are, or they are there alone. The women who are with guys look ok, but it's obvious that they don't go to the gym often. The ones that do are with bodybuilders. Same when I go rock climbing, the women there are only with guys who are better climbers than they are. With climbing, you actually don't need as much physical strength.…

/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 06:04 PM
1

That's a good point about it working like that because of the numbers. However, something that makes me doubt it is that when confronted with the option to go against those numbers, women usually don't take that option. They will not go for guys who are shorter, poorer, weaker, etc. I'm glad though that you don't care about that kind of stuff, but a lot of women I've met do.

I guess it depends on what you decide is part of gender norms and what isn't. Sweetness to me is mostly associated with femininity and not masculinity, but like I mentioned before I personally wouldn't count anything within those gender norms. I definitely think women want sex for their own sake, just with the top 20% of men. I also think their sex drives are lower than men's. It's indeed very hard to tell by exactly how much, but just going off of my observations my guess is that it highly impacts your chances. There are many other traits that can diminish your dating pool, but height seems to be a very big one. I'm not thinking about it as you might think. I acknowledge that it is dashing my chances by a lot just so I can manage expectations, but in my encounters I never mention height. It's just the acknowledgment of a very prevalent trend.

They're great friends, we just don't agree on all things. I told them that women getting periods wasn't my fault and I didn't see why I had to pay for something I had no choice in, and they just laughed it off and told me to be more open minded or something.

For the first point I told them that on the other side the man doesn't know the woman either, and so he's technically in danger too. They said that men are stronger and are more likely to hurt women. Second point I told them that men are expected to be the person to ask them out, so it's setup to have the guy pay anyways. If I understand trps hypergamy definition it doesn't include the physical traits unique to each sex. It includes possible traits that both men and women can have, and the male has to be superior in the ones she cares about
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 09:49 PM
1

Agreed. As humans we are able to control our primal urges and desires.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 09:43 PM
1

That's a good point if you assume that men and women are the same. If they aren't, then it's perfectly valid to believe something may exist in one sex and not the other, such as hypergamy.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 06:19 PM
0

If I understand TRP's version of hypergamy, it doesn't mean just more attractive. It means superior in ways a woman cares about. So for one woman maybe she cares that a guy is stronger and richer than she is, and another may care that a guy is better than her at baseball.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 05:33 PM
2

Savage.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 08:51 AM
1

I think when TRP refers to trading up and hypergamy, it means trading up relative to the other person. So for it to be hypergamy for men, they would have to find a woman who is superior to them, not a woman who is necessarily (but can be) superior to the previous woman. TRP will also state that women will never date down, so men can never act on hypergamy even if they have it.

If the survey was true I would be really popular. Quite the opposite though, so I'm more inclined to believe the survey is false.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/17 08:28 AM

If they view attractiveness differently though, would it be a stretch to say that may affect the rates at which they find each other attractive? For example, height is a very big factor in what women find attractive. However, men don't put as much emphasis on height. There must be another attribute that will make up for that discrepancy.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 02:59 AM

Why wouldn't most women have sex with Chad? Even if most men would love to have sex with Stacy, would they ever be in a position to?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 02:37 AM

In those carousels, would you say the rate at which both men and women hookup are the same? If an average/below average woman can get sex with Chad, can an average/below average man get sex with Stacy?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 02:34 AM
1

Even if dating sites don't work the same way as real life, if the attraction is the same then those stats should've said otherwise. It seems odd to me then that an assumption that men and women would find each other equally attractive is true, yet not seeing the whole person seems to affect the way men and women rate attractiveness. At least to me, it would seem men and women don't find each other attractive in the same ways.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 02:31 AM
1

How would the OkCupid study of 80% of men are unattractive, the 1.2% of male incel vs 0.3 of female incel, and social experiments showing differences in willingness to sleep with strangers factor into your beliefs?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 02:03 AM
4

If the average man can get sex as much as your average woman, can we assume that women and men find each other attractive at similar rates? In other words, men and women are equally picky?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 01:31 AM
4

What kind of man and woman would you say have access to these carousels? Average? Below average? And what is the carousel to you? Is it being able to get laid at all, or the ability to get laid whenever?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 01:09 AM
7

So you would say that there are roughly equal amounts of both men and women having a bunch of casual sex? Also, that after exiting the carousel, both have roughly equally changed SMV?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/17 12:57 AM
8

The only way for those two to be the same is if men and women had equal access to their respective carousels, and the effect of entering and exiting those carousels is also the same.

It would seem that Chad is a bigger threat to men than Stacy is to women unless women don't want sex from Chad at all. Am I missing something?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 01:50 AM
2

If the goal of this post was to show incels that women don't have perfect lives, then sadly I don't think this post has achieved that goal. It's true that even those in privilege still have problems, (dubbed first world problems), but to those living in the third world it looks like a bunch of rich people complaining. For the men who know they will be alone for their entire lives, watching women (the ones who have rejected them and are sometimes disgusted by them) complain about their dating liv…

That's a really good point. But if I understand it correctly, Chad gets in the way of sex AND commitment whereas Stacy only gets in the way of commitment?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 01:12 AM

Exactly. That's why I'm very confused as to why the women there are uncomfortable when I'm around them. I'm only there for their safety.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 01:09 AM

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal for the girl. I'm jealous.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 01:04 AM
1

As it should. I'm surprised that women don't realize how much easier they have it relative to most men. How much easier they have it and if its even easy is another thing, but all I know is that women definitely don't have it as hard as they think.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:58 AM

As far as I'm concerned I should be able to go as whatever I want and not be judged by anyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:54 AM

I don't think that's right. Just because certain women appeal to certain demographics doesn't mean she ONLY appeals to those demographics. It just means she has an even higher chance in that demographic.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:48 AM

I go to those every year. It's a really nice way to get blue balls.

So would you say those kinds of girls go for the top "nerd" guys? Would they be considered Chads/alphas of the nerd group?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:44 AM
1

I would consider repulsed a word to describe how women see nerds and geeks. However, it's not the same for how men view women. What I'm saying is that men don't care if you're a nerd or not for the most part. In the best case it will add points, and in the worst case it might subtract a few, but it probably won't take you out of the dating pool entirely given you've met the physical attractiveness threshold. So far in my life I've never seen a guy who rejected a girl because she was nerdy/geeky,…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:43 AM
2

I know some guys such as myself who would disagree. If we're talking about overall attractiveness then yes, it can add points because for some guys, mutual interests are a big factor. Like I said before, men have much more varied tastes. Women might be turned off by nerds/geeks, but men aren't necessarily turned off by nerdy/geeky women.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:30 AM
1

For sure, but at the end of the day who do they end up dating?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:22 AM

Do you think they go after Chads who aren't in nerdy social circles, or would they go after the top nerd?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/17 12:13 AM
2

Because men's preferences are usually more varied, they're more likely to notice women than women are to notice men. I really do believe that a lot of men are invisible to women, and that only a subset of very unfortunate women are invisible to men. That being said I believe that female incels definitely do exist, but pale in comparison to the number of male incels. Depending on the nerd girl she could be invisible to most men. If she's truly ugly and/or disfigured then yes, but if she's at leas…

I'm sure there are guys who fawn over Stacy types, but in my experience more women would fawn over a Chad than men would fawn over a Stacy (your definition of Stacy). From what I've seen women share sexual preferences more than men, so defining what a Stacy is relative to Chad is a bit more difficult. Another problem with this equivalence is that most women will have access to Chad sexually in one form or another, whereas most guys won't have sexual access to Stacy in any form at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/17 11:48 PM

I guess it depends on how you look at it. It seems to me that lying produces the angry TRP guys that TBP seems to hate since they feel like they wasted a bunch of time. On the other hand, if you tell them the truth, it depends on the guy. Some will give up, and some will try to become better.

As a low value man, I see a lot of shitting on people such as myself from both sides. I wouldn't know which side does it more, but to me it's hard to tell so I'm assuming both do it somewhat equally.

For me a high n-count depends on how old she is relative to the n-count, but I think 10+ is high. Any sexual act adds to it (kissing doesn't, but a bj would). I'm not sure what happens to a woman after every partner, but I would assume it gives a greater chance for her to be unsatisfied by sexual stuff given her growing experience. I have an aversion to high n-count because my physical attributes are basically below average all around and average at best, so chances are she'll think a lot less o…

I was TRP for a while but since coming here I guess I turned purple with a leaning towards TRP. Personally I don't want to ally too much with one pill, I just want the truth.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/17 03:35 AM

I think what TRP means by Chad is that Chad does not exist as a singular person, but is used to describe a group of men who share similar characteristics. So the way I understand it is there are many instances of Chad, but there isn't a single person who is deemed Chad. To make it clearer, Chad is used as a plural such as "Asian people". There isn't just one instance of "Asian people", there are many.

My hunch is that a lot of MGTOW is made up of the guys who never exited the anger phase or even doubled down on it. I'm not saying their anger isn't justified (I was in the anger phase as well, so I get it), but it does make for a very unfriendly community that I personally didn't take a liking to and who didn't take a liking to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/12/16 08:06 AM

I don't understand how I'm being miserable and hateful. If you could point it out to me, I'd be grateful. From what I've seen, a lot of the MGTOW community is pretty hateful towards women and blame them for a lot of their problems. Of course I've seen MGTOW who aren't like that, but a vast majority of people I've seen claiming to be MGTOW were very disrespectful to women and others who didn't agree with their line of reasoning.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/12/16 06:41 AM

I thought I was MGTOW at some point and joined a MGTOW forum. Those were some of the most miserable and hateful people I've ever seen on the net, and I got banned since I wasn't manly enough and didn't hate women enough. Honestly, they aren't doing themselves any favors by acting like that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_opportunity Is that your definition? If so, it still is complicated. If using that definition, there's formal and substantive equality of opportunity. Which do you argue for? My definition falls under formal, so I'm not sure why you say mine is non-standard.

Personally, I see it as a sliding scale customized for each woman. Some women who are blessed with genetics can have environmental factors that help delay or quicken it. Vice versa as well.

That's true, but even the short ones wanted tall guys. I think there were only a handful that were ok with short regardless of their own height.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/16 05:49 AM

The problem is that a lot of girls want guys who are really tall. Those 2 height threads created within the past day are proof of that.

I hope you're right, but looking at the answers in this thread helps prove that I really am since I'm so short. My point was that everyone lives in a separate reality. Some realities are brutal, and some are just rainbows and unicorns. Should people such as myself kill themselves? I personally don't think so, but we must accept the fact that our lives will not be very happy. We can make the best of what we've got though, and that's all that we can do.

You're putting words in my mouth. I even started this argument saying not everyone is equal. It is unjust, but trying to correct this might be equally unjust as well. You claim this is not complicated but it is; in fact is it very, very complicated, and since feminists think the solution is easy they think they are on morally high ground. There definitely is still discrimination and there always will be. Depending on the culture of a company, the people hiring, the current social climate, there …

Equality of opportunity has already been achieved. The lobbying to get more women into STEM should stop then. Women are free to go into those fields if they want, but if they choose not to then don't try to get them to do it. I still see a lot of feminists saying stuff like "we still don't have 50% of women in X". That's equality of outcome, and it's not just a "manosphere meme".
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/16 09:18 PM
2

I don't understand why it's hard to accept that everyone isn't equal. Some people are taller, some people are stronger, some people are smarter, etc. I think you're talking about human rights, and in that case equality of opportunity should be an accepted right for everyone. The problem is, feminism is all about equality of outcome and not opportunity.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/16 09:06 PM

Those aren't really comparable. You can lose fat, but you can't gain anymore inches. Also, when guys are talking about fat girls they are usually talking about obese. Chubby is 50/50, some guys care some guys don't. Women won't date obese guys either.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/16 08:57 PM

The problem is everyone is not equal, and people's experiences are not equally valid. The world is unfair, and assuming people are equal or even worse, trying to make them equal is on morally shaky ground.

One of the biggest problems I have is that the movement is so fractured (just as you experienced) that there are a lot of instances of "no true Scotsman" in that movement. It makes it very difficult to take any of them seriously, or even discuss issues. Feminism to me seems very hypocritical, dishonest, and ignorant. Most say they want equality, but what they really want is more rights and less responsibility. Many women still want/expect men to pay for everything even though they make their own…

Finding a woman who is ok with (and even enjoys) dating a shorter guy is only a few magnitudes more than winning the lottery. Even if women like that are out there, the odds are so low that you can't really count on it.

They were mostly good guys though, and I thought that was a requirement for women. Turns out it's not, and it's basically just looks as you point out. They just happened to be good, but even if they were pure evil there wouldn't have been a difference.

From what I've seen, most don't make too much of an effort. There are a few like myself who have tried, and still came up with nothing. The most notable example I can think of is someone called trail22 or something.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/16 09:40 AM

i. Yes, to some extent. I used to be a feminist and bought into the equality stuff, "be yourself" bullshit, disney movies, and all that feel good crap. ii. Embarrassing, but probably around 22. That's what I first started getting suspicious about my beliefs, and by 24 I was no longer a feminist and had stumbled upon TRP by chance.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/16 09:34 AM
1

That's true, but if you're a woman and not used to rejection it might hit you hard. Especially if you think you're hot shit, and these days women get so much validation that even the fat women think they are models.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/16 01:47 AM

I think they bring a sort of feminine energy and playfulness that men can't really emulate without looking super weird.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/16 01:16 AM

I half agree, but I think getting rejected for a woman might be even worse for them since it's actually easier for them in the dating scene. People expect guys to get rejected, they don't really expect women to get rejected as much.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/16 01:14 AM
2

I don't think so, I was just answering his hypothetical. Basically saying I'd want out of the game entirely.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/16 08:22 AM

I'd chose to be asexual. It's already impossible for me to have a romantic relationship with a woman, so wanting something that I can never have can get me pretty down sometimes. It would be something huge I wouldn't have to worry about, and could concentrate on other things.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/16 07:36 AM
1

Definitely bought into that when I first stumbled on it. After 2 years of self improvement I found my luck with women didn't change at all. They act as if TRP is the holy grail to get women and it has a 100% success rate, but it really doesn't.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/16 04:28 AM

Do you mean that you've seen shorter woman go for even shorter men? I'm glad you're living it and the guys you date are living it, but I have never seen it in my life outside of Japan. I've been to many places in Europe as well, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and China. Japan is the only place I saw it happen, and even then it was pretty uncommon.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/16 02:36 AM

What kind of porn then do women consume? It seems to me they would basically have to consume the same variety or more to make a case that the variety of their preferences are the same as mens. If there's a lot going on there, I'd like to get insight into what exactly is going on.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/16 07:34 AM

How do you "bone" such women then? What are the shared traits that the men who "bone" these women have?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/16 03:24 AM

In my experience women usually go for a very specific range of physical traits, and deviation from those traits is a rarity. Someone mentioned it before, but if you look at porn for men you will find so much variety it's even hard to believe sometimes. When you look at porn for women, the variety is not even comparable.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/16 03:22 AM

For some guys I bet it is a turn off, but for pretty specific reasons. I think deep down, most guys know that women usually date guys who are better than they are. If you are dumber than she is, she probably will at some point leave you. Men don't know how to react to this so they take it out on the girl for being smarter than they are.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/16 03:15 AM
2

I'm exactly what you would call a TRP washout, but I don't think most vocal incels are that. In fact, most incels probably never even consider trying TRP. I don't know for sure, but that's my guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/16 04:50 AM

At most you might be half right, but it seems like a more complicated issue. It can seem like the women of those groups certainly want them to die out by refusing to reproduce with them as if they all agreed on it, and the men of those groups enjoy seeing the "competition" get killed off. However, I don't think they consciously hate them or even know why they are repulsed by them. They are just acting on their instincts and feelings, as usual without much thought put into it.

I've read TRP for years and what I can say for sure is that they believe that the average man has it a lot tougher in terms of the SMP than the average woman, assuming both are relatively young. I don't have any specific rating in mind for both parties, but my personal belief is that your average man has around the same sexual encounter rate as a fat girl. Not obese, but a girl that is a few tens of pounds over weight and not overly ugly.

The difference lies in the numbers. Statistically, a male 5 is the average. So your average guy will have as much sex as a female 2, who is statistically not average (lower end) and more rare than an average male or female. I'm not saying I agree that a male 5 is going to have the same rates of incel as a female 2, but I think the point he's trying to make is that it's so much more common for guys that it's almost statistically irrelevant when it comes to women.

Honestly I feel a little skeptical and suspicious, but I definitely believe they can be lonely. In my experience, it takes a lot for a woman to actually be lonely and it's very easy for a man to be lonely. If they are indeed lonely, then I empathize with them. Being lonely is not fun and it's a slow, painful death.

I do hope that I'm wrong and you're right, but so far my experience is that women do judge largely on looks in addition to other factors. Women these days seem to have insanely high standards. Either that or I'm really ugly, which is entirely possible. My taller friends seem to get a lot of attention while I get none, so that's what I'm going off of.

Almost every woman I know has a height cut off, and if you look on online dating sites you'll see them all the time. I actually don't know if men have something similar in their dating profiles so you'd have to tell me. From what I've seen they don't, but I don't date men so I'm not as knowledgeable on that subject. It's interesting to claim that society standards are different from individual ones, and I hadn't given that much thought. My first reaction to that is that it would make sense if so…

I'm just talking from my experience. I haven't met a single guy who had some standard like "I only date girls with C cup and up". They might have had preferences, but no deal breakers when it came to physical appearance other than no fatties.

Another thing to keep in mind is that men's prime only comes if the man has been smart and worked on his career to build wealth and also has kept in shape by going to the gym. He still has to work for it. Women's prime is given to them by genetic lottery, but lucky for them more than 50% of them will win it. I think only the bottom 20% of women will not be able to benefit from their prime.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/16 04:39 AM

Sorry, I was a bit unclear. My point was that the men in the society don't really care outside of no fatties, so the only ones left are the women. They impose that pressure on each other outside of the men's no fatties thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/16 04:36 AM

How so? I definitely believe that the top 10% of men have their pick so they can trade up if they wanted, but I find it very hard to believe that your average man has that same kind of power.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/16 04:34 AM

I agree with that. I'm still not sure what you're trying to imply with that though. Are you saying that the average man does have the power since the male wall extends longer than the female one?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/16 04:30 AM

In my experience guys aren't very critical of women's appearance. Most have a "no fatties" rule but outside of that, they don't seem to care about much else.

There's some men out there that have the power to do that, but I don't think your average guy has what it takes to be able to keep trading up wives every time one of them hits the wall.

I think bringing up aging is very important, since what he says only applies to younger people. In the later ages, it seems that the SM is kinder to men. I see it as fair, since one is an early bloomer and the other is a late bloomer. Each has their time to shine, just not as the same time.

Well to be honest most research is basically something like: we took x samples, and found y to correlate with it. Not all these kinds of studies (especially studies to do with human behavior) have iron clad correlations from one trait to another, or one trait causing some sort of behavior. As for most of TRP's theories, like I mentioned above, those were mostly formed from trends observed by many men. I can't say if they truly believe them at face value, but from what I understand they use extre…

I agree with everything you've said. I'm a 5'6 Asian male and dating is the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I'm accomplished in all other parts of my life except that area. I've found that a successful dating life is the only part in life that can't be accomplished through hard work and dedication. It's the genetic lottery and if you lose, tough luck.

Depends on the belief. If it's something you don't concentrate on in your life, then you don't need evidence. I believe aliens exist and I have no evidence, but I don't base my life around anything that has to do with aliens. However, if I believed that all people are untrustworthy I would probably need evidence since it impacts my everyday life and can have huge consequences. You didn't mention it here (or maybe I can't read) but in the other post you said the lack of confidence in dating is displaced somewhere else, and I've noticed this is true too. I think some incels are destined to be doomed, but some of it has to do with what you just said. If an incel is unlucky enough to get weird parents that raise them a lot differently than their peers, the children are quickly outcast and are kept out of having the experience of relationships and sex because they were never taught to be normal. It is really hard to undo all of that especially in adulthood, so it's a compounding effect that further cripples the incel.

In my experience it's a huge turn off for women. Just this last Friday I was talking to a girl in my muay thai class and she noted that I always wear data themed t-shirts (I'm a software engineer so I get them for free sometimes). She asked if I was a data analyst or if I work with data and I told her no, and her immediate response was that I couldn't be that boring. I think it's because the media and pop culture is the exact opposite of what TRP advocates, and in fact many of TRPs members bought into the media themselves only to find out everything they heard from the media was wrong. I was one of those people, so this is just my perspective. I also think that women consume more media than men, so it doesn't surprise me that most media would cater to them.

To be honest women don't have to tell us, most incels can see what women really think through their actions. I don't think a lot of women empathize with incels; I've seen the opposite and what TRP says in this department is true. They disgust women to a whole other level that it's really surprising. In my experience, incels aren't even treated as human beings by women.

I'm Asian and I was into TRP for years until I found out it only really works for white guys. I followed a lot of their teachings and applied them in my life but nothing improved in my encounters with the opposite sex. TRP doesn't give advice to minorities because they understand that women just don't find non-whites as attractive, and they aren't in the business of making you feel good. They are in the business of what works, and what works is being tall and white. I don't blame TRP for having …

I've never measured myself but I don't have a micro penis. The thing is, I've never seen a woman want a small penis but I see women talking about huge dongers all the time. There must be some reason for that, and I believe it is because women love huge dongers.

I thought I did get that point, and I totally agree with what you just said. I mentioned before that women usually won't just look at one trait, like height, and just go off of that. I don't think there are many women that are like that, and the ones that are that way are very silly. Instead, women look for multiple traits and the combination of those traits naturally allows her to grow admiration and respect for the guy. The time trade off then seems to not be worth it; I can get 100% guaranteed return if I go rock climbing, go to the gym, or play video games. It's not too hard to refute. Even if it's not explicitly stated, the argument only works under the assumption that women's love is based on admiration and respect. Most arguments people make have hidden biases and assumptions that they don't outright state, and finding out what those are and proving those wrong are a great way to refute arguments. For this one, I'd simply argue that women's love isn't based solely on admiration and respect. You say it's not provable and you're somewhat right, bu…

If I understand correctly, you're saying the argument is stupid because it's hard to refute. I don't think that's a valid criticism of an argument unless the argument is infallible (this one is definitely fallible). The basis of the argument is under the assumption that women's love is based on admiration and respect whereas men's love isn't. In order for there to be admiration and respect, a person has to be better than another in some aspect. This of course doesn't automatically make one perso…

One thing I do agree about with TRP is that women want guys who are better than they are. I get where you're coming from with the point about it being silly that TRP claims to know women better than themselves, but in some aspects they might. It has to do with numbers and statistics, but more importantly how those match up with people's experiences. Most guys on TRP have been hurt, and are trying to make sense of it. They live in very different realities than non-TRP, and that's why most people think they're crazy. When someone comes in and spouts a preference that doesn't seem to match up with their experience, of course there will be some people who are skeptical. Oh yeah, there's definitely some groups that won't do well, but I'm saying your average guy isn't going to have such a huge racial preference that he won't date any girls that are of a particular ethnicity. You may have guys that have preferences, but they still will make exceptions. I don't find a lot of guys out there that have hard race requirements, and those that do are still single. For white men I'm suspecting that they really don't have a huge racial preference and are probably not exclusively targeting Asian women. I think most men are like this only because most men can't afford to have huge limiting factors like that in their dating preferences. Women on the other hand can, and so they do. Very true, and I agree. Your situation differs in that you had involuntarily shown your body parts, whereas these cosplayers are showing them of their own volition. If they made that choice, they should be aware of the attention they'll get, and also the kinds of attention. If not, they are ignorant and will learn the hard way. If they know and don't want certain kinds of attention (and know they can't deal with it), then they shouldn't do it. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I have no idea. Honestly, people who know rape is wrong and still do it won't be stopped easily. There must be at least one approach that can have decent results, but I'm not smart enough to know what it is.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I want to know what that percentage is though, because if it isn't that big then I'd argue the time and effort should be spent on more important things. Not to say this isn't an important issue, but maybe a different approach or something.

I never thought of it that way. Kudos to that person.

I'd be interested to see how much rape has declined ever since these types of posters went mainstream. I assume that they won't have much effect since people already know rape is bad, and those who wouldn't rape wouldn't have done so anyways and those that would have already know it's wrong and a poster probably isn't going to change their mind. Nonetheless, I'd be very surprised if these posters did make an impact.

How would you describe the Men's Rights Movement in your own words? Hmm I'm not sure....it means so much to so many people but I'd say it's a group of people who see the problems men have today, and are trying to solve those problems. It's not about superiority over women or anti-feminism, but simply making sure men are treated as human beings and get the rights they deserve. How do you feel being a part of this group has affected your life? It has had its ups and downs. I feel liberated in a wa…

How: I was bored one night, and clicking the "Random" link in the top nav to just visit random subreddits. Came across Men's Rights and was immediately interested, since at the time I identified as a feminist. I had never heard of Men's Rights but even though I was a feminist, the name itself didn't seem very harmful to me. In fact, I thought to myself "hey wait, men can have rights too. I wonder what they're all about." So I started poking around and spent the entire night reading links. Stayed…

Thanks for clearing that up. I only recently started posting, been lurking for basically 9 months or so. Anyways, I do acknowledge my ignorance and I'm glad you called me out and explained things a little better. Feminism seems to take a lot from sociology, and correct me if I'm wrong due to my ignorance, but it should be some form of sociology. When I say that, I mean they should be using the exact methods sociologists use to prove theories and points. They probably do this in the academic worl…

I don't really like it, but at the moment I don't see how this can hurt us too badly. I see this stuff in magnitudes more in feminist areas.

I was a feminist until I came to this subreddit. When I first saw this place I thought to myself "Men's rights....what's that?" It more like I was really curious to see what was going on here, but when I actually saw that the people of this subreddit had very valid arguments and were very mature and well mannered, I began to question myself. I wouldn't join feminism even if they started fighting for men's rights. I believe men's rights should fight for men's rights. I think it's very odd to have…

There is a huge problem I'm seeing when arguing or discussing things with feminists. They really like to bring up some sort of comparison war, like women are more oppressed than men or women have it worse than men. Such arguments are a waste of time unless you have compiled all instances of suffering for both genders, assigned them accurate measurements, and then compared the two. Has anyone done that? Not that I know if. Since there is no concrete proof, only observations of specific instances …

From the definitions I've seen, they seem pretty ok to me. What are some definitions you know of and what's wrong with them?
/r/MensRights01/12/12 09:26 AM

I don't know if I'd say that for sure, but it is definitely very ambiguous and highly plausible that what you're saying is true.
/r/MensRights01/12/12 09:25 AM

Yeah, after discussing a bit with the people at /r/AskFeminism I see a lot of people saying stuff like their arguments are based on sociology and stuff. It's possible, but the entire field of sociology is a bit questionable to me. Mainly since it's not really a science, more on us making observations and testing to see if they're true in very specific environments. I might be wrong, but that's what it seems like to me.
/r/MensRights01/12/12 09:24 AM

Yeah I read that definition but it's different than the ones I got in my thread in AskFeminism.

That is a pretty good question, and I am too ignorant to answer it. It does seem pretty possible to me that someone can embrace the idea of equal rights for women, thus being called feminist but not believe that sexism is the result of patriarchy. After discussing the definition, I'm a little closer to a definition in that I have several clear definitions but I still don't have one true, widely accepted definition.

That can't be true; there must be some feminist argument(s) that have substance and evidence backing it. I find it hard to believe that an entire system is based solely on emotion and belief. Now that I think about it religion is like that and its pretty widespread so I'm confused again.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 07:23 PM

I see, that makes things a lot clearer. Would patriarchy imply a bad system (i.e. a system where a lot of that stuff is held by men is bad) or is it just a simple observation, like how we would say China has a lot of people?
/r/MensRights30/11/12 05:56 PM

I see. So there definitely is a group of men who control the entirety of America who gather every so often and plan on how to disadvantage women. Who are these men, and what do they have to gain from this? (I know you're being sarcastic, but just humor me).

I like that. Sounds pretty neat. I assume it's pronounced key-ear-ree-archy. This is assuming gender neutrality, right?

Just an observation, I find it funny that at this moment I've gotten more replies and definitions on patriarchy on MensRights than I have on AskFeminists, who use the word as justification for a large portion of their argument.

I'm not creative enough to come up with a good word for it, but I really do hope someone comes up with a nice name for it soon so people can start using it. Using "patriarchy" is really misleading and it seems the longer we use it in place of this new magical word, the more damage will be done in the form of spreading ignorance and promoting a sort of mob/groupthink mentality.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 08:21 AM

Thanks a bunch, that does make things a lot clearer. I can now see why feminists so strongly use the patriarchy as an argument, since we are expected to conform to gender roles. However, I do not see how the US is a patriarchy in the sense that men have more rights than women. Is there such a word for a system that isn't dominated by either gender, but strictly enforces set gender roles? Although, this is all assuming that feminists are using the definition of patriarchy that you have provided a…

Thanks for the video. I like her reasoning and explanations; she provides more than I've seen any feminist do. She brings up a lot of questions I'm asking myself except that she also has an answer.

Hm, I don't really get what you mean by the last part (no one believes in heaven and hell anymore), since it seems many people are still religious. Even if patriarchy had a clear definition, it still doesn't seem like a scientific way of explaining why men are bad. A scientific way of doing that would be doing many studies in various areas proving men are bad and then presenting the unbiased evidence. This makes me wonder if you are correct (and I actually hope you're wrong), that this very vagu…

I see, I like that definition. But is it the definition that feminists have accepted and use? My entire confusion is based around 2 questions, which is not only the definition of patriarchy but its application as a sound argument. They imply that patriarchy and oppression go hand in hand, and this definition doesn't seem like it fits their definition. In fact, some seem to believe patriarchy oppresses both genders but then that's weird because if both are equally oppressed, then could it be that…

If that's true, then that's kind of disappointing. I was looking forward to having a logically sound definition of patriarchy so I could better understand the arguments of feminists who use it as some sort of proof/argument. This just makes me wonder if something has no clear definition, how was it able to become such a powerful argument? Now I'm even more confused. I read the stuff on AskFeminism about patriarchy and the only definition I like was that it's the enforcement of gender roles but l…

Stupid question, but is this a widely accept definition by a majority of feminists? I know it comes from the Encyclopedia of Feminism, but it seems there are many types of feminism and conversely many definitions of patriarchy. I guess I should also ask, is patriarchy one of the terms with one definition or is it something that everyone defines on their own? If it's the latter then I can see a lot of feminist arguments crumbling, which answers my second question (if it can be applied as a valid …

Did I miss something, because they didn't really seem to talk about the topic at hand that much (feminism encouraging violence in women). It seemed to jump around a lot and this Peaches person just talked a lot about herself and her experiences.

At first glance it looks pretty bad, but I wanna hear more about the husband. Did he have a history of abusing her? Was he an alcoholic? There's a bit of crucial information missing that can make this event either a grave injustice, or just a woman protecting herself. The huge change of character during the 911 call to the police isn't very reassuring though, and that in itself is also very questionable.

Not in a sense it is discrimination, IT IS DISCRIMINATION. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/discrimination "treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit" You're giving certain people of a certain group (women) different treatment based solely on the fact that they are part of that group (letting people with a vagina play for free) …

Same here. Women don't seem to know how easy they really have it, and seeing complaints on facebook and in general just really piss me off to no end. Walking around at night scares the shit out of me too, it's not just women. It's dangerous overall for everyone. That "living in fear" thing really annoys me too. Anyone can live in fear if they believe everything and everyone is out to get them. How about living with the very real fear of having all your current and future earnings given away, or …

I'm kind of in the same boat as you with my friend, except she's not as read up on our issues. Whenever I try and bring something up where men are disadvantaged or where women are highly advantaged, she always says it's relative and only applies to a small percentage of the population, no matter what the issue is. I've stopped trying to convince her since she gets mad at me easily. You should do the same thing too. Just try and keep your thoughts to yourself, you're lucky that your friend at lea…

I don't think she has any evidence to back up her claims, just saying stuff like it depends on the situation but in the end she thinks its all fair. That's why I thought that showing proof would help my argument since she has none. I am interested in the truth, not just trying to argue. I really do want to believe this is all real, and I want everyone to be aware of this issue as well.

I just wanted to make a few friends aware that this issue does in fact exist, but some are just dismissing it. Thanks for the advice though, she does seem to not want to believe anything I'm saying so I'll just leave it at that.

I probably should've reworded the title, or given it a different one. I really want to provide to her a good argument that this problem does exist and that it is indeed real, but she refuses to believe it and says it's situational. When I thought about it, incidents posted here are just a few out of potentially hundreds of thousands of its kind. Is there some sort of proof I can just give her to show that it is indeed not limited to a few cases, or some sort of argument?
