I think the way we think of approaching as a step in a process is flawed. If we think about it as a way of building rapport and attraction, signalling confidence and fun and being interesting/interested then it fits better with OPs narrative. Go and approach, it is a part of the social toolkit. If you make yourself attractive you will get these signs, maybe not from the girl you had your eyes on originally. Then making a move will be easy. My 0.02.

YES! I really appreciate your distinction of the what "man up" means depending on context. This is what I need to hear to continue pursuing my own goals. I am a bit younger (23) and find society's influence has shaped me to not view the search for a mate as the competitive arena that it truly is (but rather believing that by being yourself you will find the one). By framing it as a competition it becomes easier to put my own needs first.

Nope they are not asking. I think think avoiding the topic might be a good approach. But when I see that people are talking about how "men need to man up" and stop using women for sex I can't help but feel guilt if some of the women I am seeing feel that way. Maybe this is me worrying about something out of my direct control. But I could do something to preempt this by bringing it up in the beginning, I am going to try that soon.

good tip about discretion - definitely something I appreciate as well because I have dealt with that reputation in the past and simply don't like the way it felt being judged. I like that line - but am I in too deep having been on a few dates and already slept with them? Should I act now and tell them or just not say anything and let it run its course? This is what is in my head. I think the answer depends on who the girl is and whether I really like spending time with them (be honest and upfron…

Asking if she remembers your name does seem like setting yourself up to fail. But with a decent response like that if she responds in the negative, it may actually build rapport and communicate attraction. My only problem is that I am godawful with names so the obvious "well do you remember mine?" could spell disaster haha.

I really like the idea of taking full responsibility for everything. That is a true leader coming through. Why is that guy/girl in the group being left out? Not your responsibility. Make it yours and include them, even if nobody notices, it is part of being a man that people want to be with.

did you feel out of your element at the "normal" people club? I'm wondering if you would have had more success at a goth/metal place but I'm also not sure if grinding is done in such a place?

I like this one, if I get a chance to use it soon I might remember how it works :) Raven - clever and tricky, creator and trickster, independent, adaptable Orca Whale - clever, strong and sometimes dangerous, playful and loving, family oriented, misunderstood lynx - rare, solitary, unknown, graceful

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
