I just got back from a camping trip. I went up one night earlier than the rest of my friends and spent the night alone in the mountains with my dog camped beside a creek. It was great to hang out with friends the next day, but I really enjoyed the quite solitude of the previous day spent alone with my own thoughts. I highly recommend getting out and camping on your own. It's great for your mind and body.

If you liked the Prince, Machiavelli also wrote 'the Discourses of Livy' which I highly recommend. He talks about the differences between republics and principalities, mostly in the context of Rome. He also wrote his own 'Art of War'. Both well worth reading.

This is a serious flaw in our system. False accusations must be dealt with harshly, if a society wants to thrive. In Roman law for example, if you were found to have falsely accused someone you could be put to death. That is how seriously they took it. We should have punishments for false accusation equal to the potential punishment the accused faced.
