I make roughly 40k a year, and my son’s mom got me for over half my monthly income after the first CS hearing. And that was after seeing him and supporting him non-stop for his first two years of life. Had no choice but to get a lawyer and get it lowered through more hearings. Do a DNA test first. People seem to take advantage of what they can when they can. Good luck to you.

Terrible situation. Fucking awful. Do whatever you can to keep your cool, and decreases the risk of exposing the fact that you know to your wife. Get everything straightened out and ready to go before you hit her with this news. It should be strongly in your favor, I believe. I’d save copies of all conversations between her and the strangers. Highlight dates, times, locations, etc. and even tie in what you would have been doing during these instances(working to provide, I assume). All should wor…

I just hope you have yourself ready legally, my friend. This is what happened with my ex, and I stayed. Before I knew it, she had all of her legal preparations taken care of, and I ended up getting screwed. Good luck to you, and I wish the absolute best for you and your kids.

I. Feel. This. Nothing so severe, but between paying off attorney fees, child support, and being forced to drive nearly an hour to HER place every time I want my son, it is a detrimental blow to my bank account. I am fairly certain that my CS payment is too high, and I want to get “my” attorney to help me lower it, but that’s MORE money I don’t have.. for which I’d have to work tons of overtime and forfeit time with my son. I had to move back in with my parents at nearly 30 years old. I am backe…

Do you need the alimony? Because I doubt it.

I genuinely believe that child support is nothing more than a legal scam. Complete exploitation of men. If I had sole custody of my son, I would not expect a payment from his mother.. only that she pays the expenses when my son is under her care. What more is needed? I even see my son more than his mother, make half her salary, and I am the one who pays.... what the fuck.

What are suggesting isn’t worth the risk exactly? I fear I may be misunderstanding that particular statement. I do know some people that have done that exact thing. I suppose they see it as easier or more rewarding?? Jumping from one short high to another, as opposed to sticking with it for the sake of love and commitment. I’m not really sure. Of course, what happens behind closed doors is almost always a lot more complicated than what we can make out from the outside. Maybe widespread anxiety i…

The system is fucked, yes. Incredibly bias toward women, from what I see, and based on personal experience. I know you’re pissed off. It fucking sucks like nothing else. I think people just take offense to the “whore” part. Maybe you’re completely right, but name-calling is just not a good way to express frustration or anger. Presenting the facts, however, would do wonders to prove a point, and even subtly imply the grim truth(if it is true) of the situation many men find themselves in, such as …

I am not divorced, but have been separated from my son’s mother for pretty much exactly two years now. I imagine separation in a co-parenting situation, and divorce in a co-parenting situation are basically the same, although divorce may be a little more complicated. Anyway.. Things I asked my ex’s first boyfriend after she and I ended we’re almost purely functional. I asked him if he had any real interest in being a parent at that point in life, or if he was just interested in the relationship …

Indeed, the judge’s throne, as I like to call it, is the same way here. He looked like a former frat boy without his cloak on. Peach polo, khakis, and Sperry type shoes. Very different from me. One thing is, I was told to dress accordingly, so I had a nice button up and nice pants and shoes, and here comes my son’s mother dressed in what could pass as pajamas. Sweatpants, hoodie, hair barely done, very little make up. She makes 4-5 times what I make, so I think she was pulling toward the judge’s…

Most people aren’t aware of how fucked the legal system is until they get involved in it themselves. So yeah, real fucking amusing. Ha. Ha. To OP, sorry you’re going through this. I’m going through similar scenarios, but in the lovely state of SC. I’d try gathering evidence against the 40% parent that clearly shows how or why she is unfit to keep them at all. And possibly attempt to get her to relinquish all parental rights. Have you looked into this at all?

Not divorced, but been going through similar BS with my son’s mother for 2-3 years, now. My child support is not astronomically high, but it’s just to the point where I cannot afford to live comfortably on my own, among other things. The system is severely one-sided. The resources that are there seem incredibly hard to find, as well. I tried to represent myself at the first hearing, and I was fucked the moment I stepped into court. The judge did not even read anything I had put together, and non…

Do the best you can to ignore the cunt. Also, be as nice as possible, without going out of your way one bit. Get everything on your end worked out, and you will be home free. You are awesome for being as patient as you have been. I’m also sorry for the bullshit circumstance, but I’m sure it will work out for the better. Stay positive, dude. What state do you live in?

Just don’t move too far. Kids are priority number one. Stay as close to them as possible. I only live 30 minutes from my son and his mother, and that’s far enough. Sorry for such a late second reply. Hope you’re doing well.

I’m currently trying to reach out a bit for some help. Searching for organizations and other resources that may be able to level the playing field in some way. Maybe you should try to do the same. Who knows.. can’t get much worse, so it seems.

Doesn’t that just give your ex an excuse to do less and/or to earn less? It’s so biased. It’s all in her favor. My frustration is seemingly insurmountable.

I’ve been looking into this myself. Not divorced, but ex takes so much money from me that I can no longer afford to live on my own. So, right now, I’m stuck at my parents(which isn’t the worst, but definitely not ideal). And even now, I can’t afford to save enough. Trying to decide whether to go to school and end up with a better career or to try harder to move up in current company.. I’m sorry you have to go through something similar. I believe that there is a highly overlooked imbalance of pow…
